Hotel Avanti

The Hotel Avanti gives you easy access to the beach and Paphos' town centre. There's a lot going on back at the property, too, with a big pool and an impressive list of sports, activities and entertainment.

One of the Hotel Avanti’s major draws is its location. The property is a short walk from the beach, and you’ll find shops, restaurants and bars on your doorstep. Better still, you’re within easy reach of Paphos’ harbour and pretty old town – it’ll take you around 20 minutes on foot.

The swimming pool also deserves some credit. It’s a big, curvy number that snakes its way around a terrace that’s dotted with loungers, parasols and palms. There’s a swim-up bar, as well, so you can sip coffee and cocktails without moving from the water. Smaller guests aren’t forgotten, either – they get their own pint-sized pool.

In terms of what else is going on, days are pretty lively, with games, sports and competitions laid on. It’s a similar vibe come sundown – the restaurant hosts regular themed nights, with Greek, Mediterranean and Cypriot cuisine. Plus, karaoke, live music and dancing are all on the agenda. Guests may also use the facilities of Avanti Village.

Good for families

We visited as a family of 4; 2 adults & 2 children aged 4 & 5 for a week just before October half term. Check-in was very smooth & easy. Good reception staff. Greeted with a glass of juice each, unpleasant in flavour but the thought was there! We had a room on the first floor with twin beds & bunk beds for the children. There wasn't much space in the room but it was adequate. The bunk beds were much better than having sofa beds but they were quite wobbly & it's probably a good job the children aren't much heavier! Free wifi in the rooms & throughout the hotel was an absolute bonus as it meant the children could watch TV on their tablets as there isn't many choices for channels on the set in the rooms. The room has air-conditioning which works very well. The bathroom is fine & perfectly serviceable but in desperate need of a refurb. There is daily maid service but this is a cursory make the beds, sweep & mop around. The outdoor pool is nice & lots of beds available for the time of year but I imagine it would be a struggle to find loungers when the hotel is full. The indoor pool wasn't due to be heated until November & quite small but fine if you want to get out of the sun for a while. We also used the pool in the sister Avanti Village one day which was quite busy but had a nice 'lazy river' that the children enjoyed. The hotel provides a laundry service but it would have been useful if there was a self-service machine & dryers. There's a little shop in the hotel lobby but with no fridges it's worth a walk to the shop across the road instead. We were on a bed & breakfast basis. Breakfast was a good choice & always stocked up. The made to order pancakes & eggs were excellent. We paid for dinner in the hotel restaurant one night & it made us glad we hadn't chosen a different board basis! We went on the 'Chinese' night & the food was quite salty & swimming in grease. Certainly not up to much. There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity so it's not hard to find an alternative though it, of course, can work out quite expensive. The children enjoyed the nightly mini-disco but the staff were not overly enthusiastic (tired at the end of the season maybe?). There was prize bingo & quizzes after the disco & then nightly 'entertainment' which quite frankly, was shockingly poor! Driving is easy in Cyprus as they drive on the same side of the road as the UK. We hired a car from the shop next to the Pharmacy which although wasn't the cheapest,it was a fully inclusive package unlike most of the other car hire places. The Kings Shopping Mall is worth a visit & for those with small children, a lifesaver if it rains because there is a lovely indoor soft play centre. The walk into Paphos itself is flat & takes about 20 minutes along the coastal path. It's a nice, easy walk with lovely views. To summarise, the Avanti Hotel is a nice place for a holiday but in need of some room renovations which would certainly be a massive improvement. The public areas are to a nice standard already so if the rest of the hotel was brought in line, it would certainly be worth a return trip.More

Amazing hotel and staff

Best hotel in Paphos, As long as it stays in the same family, I'll be visiting many a more times. When we visit it's like going home to see our extended family, as everyone there makes you feel comfortable More

The total relaxation holiday

This was the second time my wife and I had visited Cyprus, the decision to stay once again at the Avanti was never in question and once again the hotel and its staff did not disappoint. From the moment we walked into reception we were warmly welcomed and this continued throughout our stay. Even with the numbers of people staying, it is remarkable how individual staff members remember what you want which makes you feel so special. All areas of the hotel are so well kept and the cleaning regime is excellent. We have already decided that we will be back in Cyprus again next year and there is only one hotel we will be staying at, the Avanti. Thanks to you all.More

Good hotel made great by its staff

Clean and comfortable hotel in a good fairly quiet location, apart from hotel being built opposite, within 20 mins walk along the coastal path to the harbour area with a few shops and restaurants and a short bus ride to main paphos town. Regular local buses stop right outside hotel as does the bus to the airport costing 1.5 euros so don't waste money on expensive taxis or coach transfers. Several small tourist attractions locally, enough to give an insight into its long history. Staff all very friendly and helpful with excellent English. my only critisism was the pools indoor and outdoor were not heated and very cold and could have served more Cypriot food in restaurant but there was always plenty.More

Sarah C,

Great holiday experience

Three generations had a great family holiday whilst at the Avanti Hotel at the end of October/beginning November 2014. Just before the season end it was quiet but still with a good atmosphere. Everything works really well here. Reception were really helpful, Zoe in particular, the pools and gardens are immaculate, there's entertainment if you want it and the rooms are clean and spacious. We were half board and really happy with the service and variety of food offered throughout the week. Breakfast in particular offers everything you could possibly want - fresh pancakes became our daily favourite, but it was hard to ignore the full English, fruit and yoghurt and pastries. Location couldn't have been better for us as we hired a car. Not in the thick of Paphos but easy access to everywhere. Suspect things a little noisier with the main season nightlife, all we had to deal with were the rather dramatic thunder storms. We would return without hesitation and highly recommend the hotel.More
