It’s all about location at Hotel Aloe. It’s set slightly back from the seafront in Kato Paphos, just footsteps from one of the best beaches in the area. A gentle 15-minute walk along the coastal path will take you to the harbour, so all the must-sees like the Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Castle are within easy reach. Plus there’s a bus stop close by with a regular service to Upper Paphos’s market and Coral Bay.
The hotel itself is the epitome of pared down panache, which means it’s simply decorated but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The lobby has a drawing room look to it, with over-sized arm chairs, Victorian-style wall panels and lamp-lit side tables. The bedrooms are spacious and come with satellite TVs and private balconies. And there’s a small bar and a sauna at your disposal, too.
Food-wise, there’s a banquet of dining options. Take your pick from open-air dining at the gourmet poolside eatery. Or dine by candlelight in the classically-styled Mediterranean Restaurant. But the best way to start the day is with a buffet breakfast at Café Paradiso – closely followed by their authentic Cypriot lunch.
It’s the pool area make this place stand out from the crowd, though. There are three in total - a spacious indoor number, a rectangular pool surrounded by sunbeds, and a lake-like affair that’s criss-crossed by bridges, sprinkled with fountains and trimmed by palms. It’s the ideal setting for some downtime in the sun and a poolside bar completes this picture of relaxation.
