Hotel Alexander the Great Beach

A beachside spot, an infinity pool and a new entertainment venue are the big draws at this recently refurbished hotel.

This hotel has one of the best postcodes in Paphos. It’s right by a sandy, Blue Flag beach, and just a 5-minute walk from the shops, bars and restaurants in the stylish harbour.

Following a big refurb in 2013, the hotel now has an infinity pool with a swim-up bar. Rooms had a makeover, too, and feature things like Smart TVs. Five restaurants – including a stylish Japanese – complete the scene.

Another great stay

We keep coming back to this hotel! This was our third visit in the last twelve months, and it never fails to impress. All of the staff work so very hard to make the hotel the special place it is, and so many of them have been there a long time, including Philippa, the guest relations manager, who we first met about 21 years ago!. They bring a special level of service in the restaurants, from breakfast staff through to dinner staff. Raj, Paula, Quentin and Adi go out of their way to make us feel welcome. Even the staff whose job it is to clear the plates make it seem as though it is a pleasure for them to be able to do this! All the bar staff work so hard in high temperatures, and often remember your order from last time. This year they introduced a call system by the serenity pool whereby you just have to press a button and somebody comes along to take your drinks order without you even having to get up from your sunbed. The ladies who clean are also unfailingly cheerful, and provide such a good service. It is always lovely to return to your room after dinner to find your bathroom has been tidied up and all damp towels replaced, as well as your bed having been turned down with a chocolate on the pillow! The food was ,as always, excellent on this occasion, with new choices and new menus in the a la carte restaurants. We enjoyed most of the entertainment, but were a little disappointed that the quizzes are now only held once a week, as we always enjoy those!More

Fantastic place to stay!

Myself and my girlfriend spent our first holiday here this August. We arrive very late one night but you would not have thought it, there were helpful staff on hand to assist us check and get our bags to our room. The hotel it's self was excellent, clean and well presented and full of fantastic staff. We were bed and breakfast as we wanted to explore Cyprus as much as possible, breakfast was excellent with too much to pick from!!!! All the staff were incredibly kind and helpful and always smiling. The location of the hotel is perfect to walk into the town or harbour, it takes no more than 10 mins and the sun bed operation works very well so that you have the same beds for the week. The only small issue we had was out side sea view room, you could see the sea but you had to stand right on the right hand side of the balcony which was annoying. I wouldn't pay extra for this again as it was a bit cheeky of the hotel to charge it, however, when we addressed this with the hotel staff they offered us another room. Overall a fantastic stay and we will be back! More

Fantastic Hotel

Myself, my husband and 2 children enjoyed a 10 day holiday at the Alexander the Great from the 23rd of July. This was our second visit to the hotel and we has an amazing time. Pros to this hotel: Sunbed allocation. is a brilliant idea, u just see pool attendant on your first day and give him an idea of where u would like your sunbeds. You keep these sunbeds for the duration on your stay. Beach towels. Clean Beach towels are provided everyday. So that saves room on your suitcase. Kids club. I can not reccomend this enough. My children aged 7 and 3 went to the club every day for a few hours. It kept them out of the sun and they enjoyed crafe activities. Etc. A big shout out to Vicki and Becky who where really lovely and put my children and ease. Food. The food was varied and very fresh. We were half board and we enjoyed 2 nights at the orchard and it was fantastic. Raj who works there.(and also breakfast) was really nice and friendly always asking us how we were and that if we were having a nice holiday. He always spoke to our children which they liked and my daughter liked him cos he always had a smile and laugh with her. Bar and waiting staff. All very friendly and quick with our drinks nothing was ever a problem. Pool. Pool was lovely and warm esp in the afternoon when the sun had been shining on it all morning. Kanika all stars. The entertainment was great from the kids disco to main act. I couldnt fault it at all. They only small gribe i had the whole holiday was the reception staff. I only had to go to reception maybe 4 times and although they were efficient they never really had smiles on there faces. I would reccommend this hotel to everyone and hopefully we will be back agim one day.More

Lornacwatt,

Brilliant stay

This was our 3rd stay at this wonderful hotel. The first time our Daughter was married here, the second we celebrated my 60th Birthday with family. This time our Daughter surprised my Husband with a 4 night stay for his 65th Birthday. We stayed half board plus this time, and loved the selection of food for the evening meal. We are not normally lovers of hotel entertainment, but the Kanika All Stars were very professional, and well worth watching. We look forward to our next stay.More

Well worth a stay in this hotel

Breakfast was very good it caters for all tastes. Evening meal is well worth paying the extra it's 5 star dining with three specialised restaurant Italian Greek & Asian all very good, fine dining at its best. The rooms have very comfortable beds, our room only had a walk in shower plenty of towels soaps also two beach towels. There was a show on outside most nights but we were out a every night so I didn't see it. Pools are clean and enjoyable, they allocated you your own sun beds and mark them with your room number for your duration so no fuss looking for sun beds. The WIFI at first was good but it's on and off if you want good wifi for FaceTime etc its best to go to the hogs head pub it's free and just up the road. There are plenty of friendly staff so the services was good. The beach opposite the hotel is sand but in the water there are pebbles they are hard on the feet as you get in a pair of swimming shoes would help. We had a very pleasant stay I could recommend this hotel and would use it again.More
