Hotel Alexander the Great Beach

A beachside spot, an infinity pool and a new entertainment venue are the big draws at this recently refurbished hotel.

This hotel has one of the best postcodes in Paphos. It’s right by a sandy, Blue Flag beach, and just a 5-minute walk from the shops, bars and restaurants in the stylish harbour.

Following a big refurb in 2013, the hotel now has an infinity pool with a swim-up bar. Rooms had a makeover, too, and feature things like Smart TVs. Six restaurants – including a stylish Japanese – complete the scene.

Amazing amazing amazing

Where do I start with this place. We were met by a clerk who took both of our bags off us and straight up to our room for us while we were waiting downstairs with nice cold juice which was brought out to us on arrival. First impressions of the hotel were amazing, clean and modern. The hotel room was lovely and couldn't fault it at all. The maid entered our room 3 times a day to replace towels and make the bed and leave chocolate on the pillows at night. Never felt so looked after in a hotel before. The diners were fantastic. We had the chance to eat at all 3 restaurants; Italian, Greek and Japanese. All 3 of which were at the same high standard as the hotel suggests. The buffet was equally as nice as you are waited on for the drinks by extremely friendly staff who are happy to help in any way possible. The staff stayed the same for many of the meals and they start to recognise you and start conversations and show an interest. The hotel is in a great location as it's easily walkable down to the harbour which we did every night. 10-15 minute walk with a nice scenery along the way. The hotel made the holiday for us and we feel if we stayed at another hotel that the holiday would have been a completely different experience. Recommend the hotel to everyone going to Paphos for a nice relaxing holiday.More

maciuoliver,

Hotel Spa is very old

Very old, dirty, spa, showers broken in woman. water liking everywhere. roof in shower full of mould. the floor in shower is the same for both showers, so if someone showers in on cabin. water comes to other cabin because it one common floor for both showers. Though hotel itself is nice. But spa is terrible, old tiles from Troyan war times. Maybe Alexander the great himself laid them up ))))More

Excellent Choice

Just returned from a really great holiday at a great hotel. Excellent room ( se view) excellent food, decent sized pool and great location. Couple of warnings, Thomson customers only get late check out rooms and kids pool is small so kids end up in large pool, adult only pool is not big enough to swim in.More

Great hotel but poor entertainment

This was our second holiday to the lovely ATG hotel. The excellent reviews are in the main accurate but a couple of small issues are worthy of negative comment. The negatives first. The entertainment is provided by the hotel animation team who work very hard to entertain but they are no professionals! The quality of performance is not the best and very karaoke in style, for the standard of the hotel. in fairness my daughter is now grown up and I am sure lots of families will not be so critical. Last October we went to Lanzarote and the hotel used international acts who were tribute bands such as the Drifters and Abba. ATG need to look at this. My only other negatives are the continual wedding parties who obviously bring large amounts of revenue with them but large groups of wedding guests means copious amounts of alcohol and this year one group in particular were very noisy and shouting out profanities. Be aware that these groups can in some cases monopolise areas of the hotel such as the pool bar & swimming pool. The beach is a municipal beach with very steep and quite dangerous steps. It is not great and very rarely used by us. The positives by far outweigh the negatives and they include subbed allocation and a choice of grassed areas overlooking the sea (beds A10 to A12 are awesome) or poolside. The food is varied and very good choices in the main buffet restaurant and the atmosphere is awesome with piano music and no sounds of plates being scraped!! the italian and Japenese restaurants are awesome. We loved the Japanese which is a fine dining experience and managed by the brilliant host Raj who will do anything to ensure you enjoy your meals. The restaurant is called Kiku and has it's own Facebook page which you should visit to see the way food is presented. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are without exception fantastic. The waiters and waitresses work so hard in searing heat during the day at the pool bar and in the main bars during the evening. special mention this year to Bence who has personality and character. He is passionate about his job and I wanted to give him a 50 euro tip. He said he would have to give it to the bar manager as all tips are shared. This disappointed me as I wanted to show him how much he was appreciated and it meant he could not benefit in the way he deserved to be. My top man is Raj who is a total professional who together with his fantastic chefs and waiting staff make it the main reason for returning. we would have given this hotel a 5 star rating but the entertainment whilst great for kids was not brilliant. Some of the team could sing but the atmosphere in the harbour area was more entertaining for us. One other negative is the poor wi-fi reception which only really works well in the lobby. Well done to ATG as my negative points are only small.More

Simply Stunning!

I know why the hotel is 5 star, it is amazing! Just the little touches make a huge difference to someone's stay, for example there are freshly cleaned towels in the toilets to dry your hands which you then put in a laundry basket. The cleaners are definitely on top of their game! I couldn't find one spot of dirt or dust. The views are gorgeous. Their is an indoor and outdoor pool which have a bar literally in the pool which do the most refreshing cocktails, mock tails and milk shakes. Their is a small private beach within the hotel. The rooms are lovely too, the shower is so posh! Definitely would recommend!More
