Hotel Alexander the Great Beach

A beachside spot, an infinity pool and a new entertainment venue are the big draws at this recently refurbished hotel.

This hotel has one of the best postcodes in Paphos. It’s right by a sandy, Blue Flag beach, and just a 5-minute walk from the shops, bars and restaurants in the stylish harbour.

Following a big refurb in 2013, the hotel now has an infinity pool with a swim-up bar. Rooms had a makeover, too, and feature things like Smart TVs. Six restaurants – including a stylish Japanese – complete the scene.

Lovely venue

We have recently returned from a weeks holiday spent at Alexander The Great. Our room had a balcony with a sea view, which we paid extra for, but it was well worth it. Hotel was lovely and clean, staff friendly and helpful. We were on bed and breakfast tariff, which enabled us to sample the cuisine of local Tavernas and restaurants, which for us, was an added bonus. WIFI at the hotel was a real issue. A little niggle for me was that there was no conditioner supplied alongside the shampoo and shower gel.More

My husband and me stayed here for 2 weeks from14th June 2015. The hotel is amazing. I stayed here in 2012 with my mum for a week before the hotel was modernised. It is better now than it was then. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel special. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. The pool area was immaculate and you have to see the pool attendant to book your sun loungers. You have the same ones for your full stay. We are going back next year about the same time. If it's comfort and friendliness you want, then this is the place for you. Well worth the extra you pay. The champagne and flowers in our room for our anniversary was a great surprise for my husband. Go on, get yourself to Alexander The Great where everyone is treated that little bit extra. Loved it and loved the staff. I could say much more, but nothing bad at all. 😊More

Amazing hotel & location, extremely dedicated staff

When we arrived we knew from the word go it was going to be a great stay. As we walked towards the entrance with our suitcases the porter immediately took them from us. We were then invited to sit down with a complimentary drink in the beautiful, spacious lobby and fill out a registration form. We were shown round our room and shown how everything worked, with nothing left to question other than where the iron was... That was our only fault; it was on the third floor so it was a short walk down the corridor and an elevator ride away to iron all our clothes in the room upstairs. However the irons did work very well. The option of being able change our dinner for lunch at the hotel was very useful as it left us the choice of going out for dinner instead. The Japanese restaurant outside was incredible, amazing food particularly with the choice of having vegetarian sushi instead of the traditional (I'm not a vegetarian but it was offered to everyone anyway) the staff were so attentive; topping up water the moment we finished a glass and talking us through the menu. Raj in particular was great. The buffet restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food was great, so much selection. Lunch was a buffet too and there was different food every day, nothing was reused, and again it was really good. We didn't eat at the Italian restaurant as we went out for a few nights but it looked good too. The only restaurant that wasn't as good was the Limanaki taverna as it was mezze and we felt the food wasn't as fresh (being kept warm) however it was nice to try some traditional Cypriot dishes and most of it was very pleasant. The bar prices were very reasonable, about €5 for a standard cocktail and all alcohol was branded so you knew you were getting the best. The pool area is amazing and they give you your own sunbeds for the week so you don't have to rush to find them each morning. There is a 'private' beach right in front of the hotel which is quiet and the sea is lovely. You do have to pay for the sunbeds down there but there is plenty of space for lying on the sand. I would definitely recommend walking along to the harbour and finding the 'Wave Dancer' stall. They'll tell you all about it but it's an amazing boat trip in the evening with dinner, dancing, live music and fireworks, so worth it. One other point I would make is that make sure you put a do not disturb sign on your door when appropriate as there is a cleaning service in the morning and a turn down service in the evening! Overall we had an amazing holiday and we'd definitely return.More

Another wonderful holiday at this amazing hotel

Arrived 9th June for a 2 week stay. We have stayed at this hotel so many times we have lost count! The hotel is a wonderful place to stay and in a lovely position in Paphos. Without exception every member of their staff cannot do enough for you. We had a lovely lady cleaning our room (218). She was an absolute delight always smiling, laughing and met any small requests we made without any problem. Special mention to Leoni who we always email before we come with our requests which are always met. A lovely lady. Also met Phillipa Guest Relations lady for the first time this year and what an efficient lovely lady also. Over all the years we have been, whatever problem we have had (and they have been small) have been sorted as quickly as possible. We always go bed and breakfast as it is part of our holiday to go out and find somewhere to eat. Breakfasts are amazing. So much choice and lovely area to sit outside to eat. This year there were quite a few people in wheelchairs and guests with other disabilities and we were very impressed as to how much all the staff helped these guests and made sure they were happy, even going and getting some of their breakfast for them. There is no point in us saying about the wonderful swimming pool area etc as review after review write about the facilities. We have already booked again for next year!More

Excellent Holiday in June

On arrival at the Hotel the Reception were very helpful and guided us to the restaurant after a late evening arrival. There was a slight problem with our "Booked" room which was sorted out by the Hotel within 24 hours Many Thanks. Our sea view room with Balcony was fine (rather small Balcony compared with most others) The Breakfasts were OK but rest of the food was excellent especially the Italian Restaurant (Fine Dining). The allocation of sun beds for the duration of holiday was very good. All staff were helpful and friendly.More
