Villa Marilena Sunset II

in Argaka , Paphos Region

The Marilena Sunset is a villa lovers' dream. In fact, it’s a dream for anyone who is in need of some serious R&R.
Sat proudly on top of a hill this white washed villa boasts some spectacular views out to sea. You’ll constantly be reminded of how close you are to a golden slice of sand to call your own.

Inside you’ll find four spacious bedrooms and a living area with all mod cons – satellite TV, CD player, even a DVD player. But who wants to watch films when you’ve got such great scenery outside? So fling open the patio doors and check out the glorious view and garden. There’s a spacious deck area, sunbeds and a shimmering pool.

And what better way to accompany a sunbathing session than with a barbecue? Flip some meat onto the grill and gather everyone round the table for an al fresco feast. Sleeping up to six people, the Marilena Sunset is ideal for families or maybe a group of friends. All this may sound great, but there’s one massive problem - once you’ve arrived, you won’t want to go home.

Your guide to Argaka, Paphos Region

“Apple orchards, grapevines and greenery form the timeless setting of this typical Cypriot village - an escapists’ idyll.”

If you fancy a glimpse of what Cyprus was like without tourism, Argaka is probably the place for you. An hour’s drive from the popular resort of Paphos, this little village in the coastal hills has more prickly pear trees than places to party… though frequent and lively local weddings up the tempo temporarily. The thousand-strong population is served by a handful of shops, a scattering of coffee bars, two tavernas and a couple of churches. But there’s more to explore in the surrounding area. Ayia Marina, five minutes away, has an atmospheric Byzantine church intriguingly set in a forest. There are long country walks where the air is filled with the sound of cicadas and the scent of wild thyme. And there are scary mountain roads to secluded little hamlets. Stop off for a leisurely lunch at some local taverna – a mixed horiatiki (village) salad, sprinkled with feta, plump olives and lemon juice. The simple pleasures are the best …

We stayed at the Marilena Sunset II at the start of October 2008. The villa is fabulous! Set on the hill in Agia Marina (it says Nea Dimmata on the Thomson website which is incorrect) - it has 4 lovely bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. There was only 2 of us... more on this review
