Lovely break in sunny Cyprus
We travelled to Cyprus early October for a week and stayed at the Family Life Nausicaa Beach. We were a bit apprehensive about booking a family hotel as we don't have children and I was 26wks pregnant at the time. However we were not disappointed! Had a lovely apartment close to the main restaurant with spacious kitchen/dining area and patio, room was clean and bright. Slight problem with ants in the bathroom but the reception provided us with some spray to eradicate the problem! The food was amazing, so much variety and choice throughout the day and each evening had a theme so the menu was constantly changing. Plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit, pasta, meat dishes, fish, live cooking every day & all food items listed allergens which I thought was very good for people with dietary requirements. There were also lots of desserts to choose from! You have the option to dine inside or outside and there is also a snack bar near the pool which provides burgers, pasta, sandwiches etc if you don't want a full meal. Sylvia in the restaurant greeted us with a smile every day and showed us to our table, she was very attentive and made us feel very welcome. There were lots of drinks to choose from, as I was pregnant I sadly could not try all the many cocktails on offer but Stavros would make me special non-alcoholic cocktails! There are two pools and a baby pool although we only used the main pool and lots of sun beds across the complex. The sea is literally on the doorstep of the hotel and there are steps down from the promenade making it perfect for a swim everyday. You can also walk along from the hotel to the beach in less than 5 minutes. There are also activity classes on every day (I tried yoga which was good) and the kids club looked a lot of fun which ended in a parade around the pool each afternoon! We went in October as we wanted a bit of last minute sun outside school holidays so thought there would be no children however it was Scandinavian school holidays so there were lots! However this wasn't a problem and we enjoyed the holiday & watched the evening entertainment even if it was aimed at kids! Could do with a bit more adult entertainment as shows tended to finish by 10pm but the acts were good. All in all this was a fabulous holiday and we would definitely consider returning now that our little boy has arrived as it is great for families as well as couples.More
Fabulous hotel but dissappointing evening entertainment
We stayed in August 2016 and had a large 2 bedroom apartment with a very large balcony and sea view. This was on the 3rd floor with no lift so please be aware of this if you have buggies etc to get up there as it can become very tiring going up and down all the stairs in the heat. Also, the rooms are not cleaned every day but you have a card in your room telling you what days there will be no service. Beds were extremely comfortable. Kitchenette was very useful. Hotel is in a wonderful position, supermarket within 3 minutes walk and very close to the beach which offered a good variety of waterspouts. We didn't really use the beach and chose to go down the steps into the sea as the water was crystal clear and beautiful colours from this position. The pools were a bit boring looking and too small for the amount of people in high summer, and I would have liked to have a seen a pool with a few slides in it with it being a family hotel. Baby pool was very small but was covered by a canopy and had a very small slide. Towels are removed from sunbeds if you are not sitting on them before 9. I think this an excellent policy and one that more hotels should follow. Saves getting up at silly o'clock ti reserve a bed. Lots of sunbeds in garden area's overlooking the sea too but some of these areas could do with being re-turfed as it was like walking on mud in some parts. Noticed a lot people coming and sitting in these areas and using the pool who were not hotel guests as they didn't have wristbands and looked like locals. Its easy for them to access the hotel as it's a very open area. Management should perhaps have security checking that everyone has paid to stay in the hotel as it wasn't nice to see people using the pool and sunbeds for free when we had paid thousands of pounds! Food was delicious in both buffet and speciality restaurant - my only complaint was that the buffet restaurant was too small for the amount of people using it, and we often had to wait to be seated or join a long queue for the food. Snack bar was open all day has a good variety of food including healthy wraps/sandwhiches which was nice. Plenty of popcorn, donuts, waffles and ice cream in the afternoons too. Staff were very pleasant all over the hotel and the entertainment staff were very friendly too. Evening Entertainment was very basic compared to what we have experienced in the past - even in some 3 star resorts. There was a kids disco each night and then usually some sort of quiz show or competition. Very lucky if you got a singer on for 45 mins and even then they finished early - usually by 10. Not everybody wants to watch quiz shows and mini disco or go bed early every night. Most people got bored, and this caused lack of atmosphere with only a few staying until the end which wasn't late anyway. There is a bar by the pool where some people who got bored with the entertainment sat around, but there was no background music here either and people had nothing to do but play cards, Everyone we spoke to said something else would have been nice and the entertainment finished too early. We sometimes went into the town to watch some more interesting acts and to have a bit of atmosphere. Even families with young children want to have some fun in the evening! I think TUI need to look at paying some tributes or other acts to come in more often. The Protaras strip was lively and busy with lots of good shops, bars and restaurants and a mini funfair for the kids. We would like to come and stay in this hotel again but it is very expensive this year and i don't think the hotel offer anything extra for loyal returning guests as some hotels do. Also we would like to see an improvement in the evening entertainment.More
A relaxing break
The staff here are friendly and helpful and the rooms clean, spacious and functional. Not 4 * in our opinion, definitely lacking the 'wow' factor. A few scruffy bits in our room which you don't expect in a 4* hotel. The food was lovely although the queues left a lot to be desired. The Chinese night was the best and the food on this night was really tasty. We chilled by the smaller of the 2 pools everyday, the Aqua aerobics took place here and the 2 men that took the classes were full of enthusiasm and a credit to the hotel. The bar staff at this pool were also a credit to the hotel. We had no trouble getting a sun bed everyday as we are early risers, it was amusing to see towels and property being removed if it was left 'reserving' a sun bed before the allowed hours. Good on the hotel for insisting on this policy, too many people in resorts seem to think their towels need a holiday and don't visit them for hours! The TUI reps were better than normal, not pushy but just giving good information then leaving you alone if that was your wish. We walked into town a couple of times, not the best town we have visited but it was very busy and there are rides for young kids and lots of restaurants if you get fed up with the all inclusive menu. We enjoyed our much needed break but as the name of the hotel suggests it is probably best suited to families with small children. A big thank you to the staff and management for leaving us alone to enjoy our break.More
Beautiful, clean and friendly
Currently staying in family life for a week holiday. I've got to say this is the best hotel I've been too and I have travelled a lot... Greeted upon arrival with a glass of champers and a friendly receptionist. It seems Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff , and they are always happy to help! Possibly the best located hotel around protaras , with steps straight down to the sea! If you're looking for a all inclusive , luxury holiday , this is the hotel for you! Also very child friendly and it seems a lot for them to do . More
Relaxing and great food
Nausica was a really nice hotel with pleasant staff and wonderful food. When we first arrived to the hotel in the middle of the night the lights in our apartment didnât work. The staff then offered us some Champagne and food while we were waiting for an electrician to fix the problem. We really felt welcome thanks to their treatment.More
