The Sunrise Beach Hotel’s best bits include an on-the-beach setting and a handy sunbed allocation system.
Thanks to its beachfront position, you can flip-flop between the hotel’s pool and the sea in a few steps. Protaras’ main strip isn’t much further away, where you’ll find a clutch of authentic tavernas.
One of the hotel’s big draws is its dine-around programme. It means you can have dinner in a choice of restaurants in the area, which serve the likes of American, Asian, Italian and Greek cuisine.

Marcello's Italian restaurant*
You'll find the restaurant in front of the hotel where you'll come across a large terrace that you can dine on. The kitchen is open for you to see meals being freshly made. Expect authentic recipes such as pastas, risotto, pizzas being made in the wood fire oven and a fine wine list. You'll need to book a table in advance here, bookings are limited to one reservation per week. Highchairs are available.
The lagoon like pool shines crystal clear waters because of the cloudless blue sky. You'll get views of the beach and there are sunbeds with parasols on the terrace.
Othello lounge bar*
A big must while staying in the hotel is to visit this bar. It's where the night comes alive. The entertainment in the evening is live singing acts, live instrument acts, dance shows and magic.

My family love staying here
First stayed at this Hotel over 11 years ago and we are still returning. Love the hotel, the location and the staff. It's perfectly placed on the main strip in Protaras and right on the beach. The staff are friendly and welcoming. My girls were very young when we first went so they now feel at home here. The staff look out for them and the girls feel happy and secure. Lovely family atmosphere and we have made some lovely friends over the years. The food at the hotel is divine and always lots to chose from. There are a number of places to dine, either in the hotel or in restaurants owned by the hotel on the main strip, so not far to go but nice for a change of scenery. Breakfast is lovely with an amazing choice, cooked or continental, they have everything you could want. We usually go at Easter so you take a chance with the weather but having said that we have had some of the best weather, lots of sun but not unbearably hot with maybe one or 2 rainy/dull days out of the 10-14 days we usually go for. I also like the way the hotel allocates you a sunbed for the duration of your stay. If you want to move to another area of the pool that is taken, you ask the pool attendants if they can let you have those beds when the guests using them have left. We will be back next Easter, can't wait.More

Best Med Holiday we've ever had.
The Sunrise Beach Hotel in Protaras did not disappoint. We were a couple traveling with our 18 year old son. We booked a suite and the room was lovely. Our son was initially disappointed by the fact that his bed was a temporary camp bed type but it proved to be very quiet and comfortable so no problem. The main bed was huge and very comfortable. The room has windows with balconies on two sides being on the corner of the building and four floors up the view in both directions is spectacular especially at night when the promenade and hotels are lit up. The resort is relatively small, you can walk the length of it quite easily but there is a good selection of bars and restaurants of different types. We liked the Cheers bar during the day, the lunches are very good value with large portions. There are plenty of supermarkets and shops with the usual range and tourist stuff. The Raj Indian restaurant was really good in the evening as well as the Hotel restaurants. The Reef sports bar and restaurant in the hotel was our sons favourite he got to watch football and tennis on the big screens while eating. The staff were all really nice and friendly throughout the hotel from the maids to the manager we chatted with them all and they couldn't do enough for us. Every request was met if at all possible. The guy's at the beach bar were great and our favourite waiter Florris deserves a mention. The staff tend to come back and work there every year with a winter break in the middle. We were there during the last week of the season in October but the hotel didn't run out of anything and the service was still great. The sister hotel next door the Sunrise Pearl has a spa we could use and looked very modern. Our facilities were very good, games room, indoor and outdoor pools etc. only slight complaint would be the temperature of the outdoor pool, due to the position of it and the time of year it was cold. For swimming the sea was lovely, warm and safe, we snorkelled every day and with the beach right outside the hotel it was convenient too. The beach was clean and the water sports were right by the hotel garden. The jet skis were great and our son used them 3 times. The captain who runs the water sports is local and has been there years everything feel safe and the guys are helpful. We rarely return to the same hotel but for the Sunrise Beach we may make an exception.More

Most relaxing holiday
Lovely hotel with excellent staff who made sure we enjoyed our holiday. Great idea that you are allocated sunbeds for the duration of our stay. Entertainment team were first class. Stayed on bed and breakfast basis but would consider half board if we returned.More

Nice holiday but underwhelmed
We travelled here as a couple the end of October to spend two weeks doing nothing, away from our hectic lifestyles at home and some much needed sun. Having gone half board it wasn't exactly a cheap holiday so we were expecting good things. Our initial impressions were very good, we got allocated room 307 which is a partial sea view overlooking the garden/wedding area. A lovely outlook, but unfortunately very noisy as from 11:30pm-2:00am all you can hear is the bars on the main strip playing ridiculously loud music. We found the rooms accommodating, a good size and in good condition and they were well cleaned daily. We spent each day in the garden area but you do need to choose your loungers carefully as the sun does disappear behind the hotel/trees later in the day so better to be closer to the beach. The beach is lovely and the water fantastic, we didn't spend any time in or even near the pool, as the majority was in shade and the pool is not heated. Going half board we did have the choice of the 4 external restaurants as well as the onsite Panoramic (Buffet style) and this is one thing we did enjoy. The food was fantastic and the option of dining out gives some nice variety. The one negative of the Panoramic however is the staff, who we felt were a little too attentive and at times we felt a little rushed. The moment your cutlery touched the plate they would be over to you to remove your plate. It's not that the staff are rude but at times it did spoil the "dining experience". Also, for the last week the Greek restaurant was closed which limited our choice somewhat. Make sure you do book (if you can get the booking machine to work) as we were turned away from the Reef bar one evening despite it looking half empty. We particularly liked the Italian. In terms of the staff I wouldn't say they warrant the reviews some people have given them on here. We don't tend to ask for much whenever we are away but the times I did ask I didn't find them too helpful and a little bit snotty (especially those at reception) Maybe that was due to the fact it was end of season and they were ready to go home and the last few days before the hotel was due to close, we did feel the standards had dropped quite a bit. We also felt the hotel had somewhat of a clique with some of the guests and most definitely had their favourites, possibly returning guests and those of the older generation. That said the hotel is more geared to older people. To sum up we enjoyed our stay here, we had a relaxing 2 weeks which was our aim, but can certainly agree with being a little underwhelmed by the hotel and its staff. We have stayed in 4/5 star places all over the world and do not expect too much but I would say this just about scrapes a 4. Things that would help:- an iron in the room, better wifi connection, more consistent tv channels (the English ones disappeared half way through the holiday as they cancelled the subscription) a heated pool, more welcoming staff. I would definitely recommend Protaras though the place is fantastic.More
A perfect family holiday!
The sunrise beach hotel was a beautiful, clean and friendly hotel to stay in for our holiday. It is right by the beach, had a great kids club, water sports, crystal clear warm water and the food was wonderful with a great selection. We had allocated sun beds all week which meant no getting up early to get one! (Choose a bed in the garden area as the sun is there longer than anywhere else ) We went with our 5 & 8 year old and they loved it too. We also went with my parents and had an adjoining room after we emailed before our holiday. They were only too happy to help. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were so friendly and helpful as was our Thompson rep Big John! We went at the end of October and the weather was perfect. Not too hot or cold. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will hopefully be back!More
