Hotel Sunrise Beach

The Sunrise Beach Hotel’s best bits include an on-the-beach setting and a handy sunbed allocation system.

Thanks to its beachfront position, you can flip-flop between the hotel’s pool and the sea in a few steps. Protaras’ main strip isn’t much further away, where you’ll find a clutch of authentic tavernas.

One of the hotel’s big draws is its dine-around programme. It means you can have dinner in a choice of restaurants in the area, which serve the likes of American, Asian, Italian and Greek cuisine.

Marcello's Italian restaurant*

You'll find the restaurant in front of the hotel where you'll come across a large terrace that you can dine on. The kitchen is open for you to see meals being freshly made. Expect authentic recipes such as pastas, risotto, pizzas being made in the wood fire oven and a fine wine list. You'll need to book a table in advance here, bookings are limited to one reservation per week. Highchairs are available.

Outdoor pool

The lagoon like pool shines crystal clear waters because of the cloudless blue sky. You'll get views of the beach and there are sunbeds with parasols on the terrace.

Othello lounge bar*

A big must while staying in the hotel is to visit this bar. It's where the night comes alive. The entertainment in the evening is live singing acts, live instrument acts, dance shows and magic.

Most relaxing holiday

Lovely hotel with excellent staff who made sure we enjoyed our holiday. Great idea that you are allocated sunbeds for the duration of our stay. Entertainment team were first class. Stayed on bed and breakfast basis but would consider half board if we returned.More

Nice holiday but underwhelmed

We travelled here as a couple the end of October to spend two weeks doing nothing, away from our hectic lifestyles at home and some much needed sun. Having gone half board it wasn't exactly a cheap holiday so we were expecting good things. Our initial impressions were very good, we got allocated room 307 which is a partial sea view overlooking the garden/wedding area. A lovely outlook, but unfortunately very noisy as from 11:30pm-2:00am all you can hear is the bars on the main strip playing ridiculously loud music. We found the rooms accommodating, a good size and in good condition and they were well cleaned daily. We spent each day in the garden area but you do need to choose your loungers carefully as the sun does disappear behind the hotel/trees later in the day so better to be closer to the beach. The beach is lovely and the water fantastic, we didn't spend any time in or even near the pool, as the majority was in shade and the pool is not heated. Going half board we did have the choice of the 4 external restaurants as well as the onsite Panoramic (Buffet style) and this is one thing we did enjoy. The food was fantastic and the option of dining out gives some nice variety. The one negative of the Panoramic however is the staff, who we felt were a little too attentive and at times we felt a little rushed. The moment your cutlery touched the plate they would be over to you to remove your plate. It's not that the staff are rude but at times it did spoil the "dining experience". Also, for the last week the Greek restaurant was closed which limited our choice somewhat. Make sure you do book (if you can get the booking machine to work) as we were turned away from the Reef bar one evening despite it looking half empty. We particularly liked the Italian. In terms of the staff I wouldn't say they warrant the reviews some people have given them on here. We don't tend to ask for much whenever we are away but the times I did ask I didn't find them too helpful and a little bit snotty (especially those at reception) Maybe that was due to the fact it was end of season and they were ready to go home and the last few days before the hotel was due to close, we did feel the standards had dropped quite a bit. We also felt the hotel had somewhat of a clique with some of the guests and most definitely had their favourites, possibly returning guests and those of the older generation. That said the hotel is more geared to older people. To sum up we enjoyed our stay here, we had a relaxing 2 weeks which was our aim, but can certainly agree with being a little underwhelmed by the hotel and its staff. We have stayed in 4/5 star places all over the world and do not expect too much but I would say this just about scrapes a 4. Things that would help:- an iron in the room, better wifi connection, more consistent tv channels (the English ones disappeared half way through the holiday as they cancelled the subscription) a heated pool, more welcoming staff. I would definitely recommend Protaras though the place is fantastic.More

A perfect family holiday!

The sunrise beach hotel was a beautiful, clean and friendly hotel to stay in for our holiday. It is right by the beach, had a great kids club, water sports, crystal clear warm water and the food was wonderful with a great selection. We had allocated sun beds all week which meant no getting up early to get one! (Choose a bed in the garden area as the sun is there longer than anywhere else ) We went with our 5 & 8 year old and they loved it too. We also went with my parents and had an adjoining room after we emailed before our holiday. They were only too happy to help. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were so friendly and helpful as was our Thompson rep Big John! We went at the end of October and the weather was perfect. Not too hot or cold. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will hopefully be back!More

Golden Holiday 2014

This was a great holiday. The hotel was very good...cleanliness being excellent. Food and the ambience of the dining room very good indeed. We had a sea view room and the comfort of this room was excellent and the view great. If I were to fault this hotel at all it would be that I feel a separate room should be used for children's nightly entertainment as it was difficult for adults to find a seat in the bar/lounge area when this was in action. That said, I still enjoyed seeing the children enjoying themselves. But overall a quiet, restful and totally relaxing holiday. A special mention is made of Justine in the Othello Bar who is a great asset for the hotel.More

June R,

A nice hotel

We found the hotel to be alright. The public areas were well presented The room we stayed in 233 was a bit tired single beds that drifted apart bathroom had end of season look Reception staff very un helpfull asked for two things and they failed on both counts. Wi fi Internet in rooms is rubbish not to bad at pool. Like the booking system for sun beds Breakfast was first class and Som fried lovely eggs and made waffles to die for. He was a really lovely guy if you took the time to talk to him. Hotel should give him a bigger role. Four restaurant s attached to hotel were excellent. Night time entertainment was poor however it was the end of season. To sum up it is classed with Thomson as five star I would rate it four going on three however it is close to beach clean but pricey for drinksMore
