Narcissos Aparthotel

in Protaras , Larnaca Region T rating: 3

  • Close to the beach
  • On the edge of Protaras
  • Large swimming pool
This place puts the centre of Protaras and popular Fig Tree Bay within easy reach.
The Narcissos Aparthotel makes a great base for exploring. It’s set on the edge of Protaras, about a 30-minute walk from the town’s main strip of bars and restaurants. If you don’t fancy walking, the bus only takes five minutes, and it stops just outside the hotel. And, because this place is set just off a main road, taxis are really easy to come by, too.

The apartments themselves are on the basic side, but they’re kitted out with everything you need. That means kitchenettes come as standard, so you can rustle up snacks and light bites. And all rooms have balconies, too – most of which look out towards the pool.

Speaking of which, the pool is the hotel’s best feature. It’s big and curvy, with palms and loungers lined up around the water’s edge.

In terms of food, buffets are the order of the day. Breakfast is a full English, lunch offers a good choice and theme buffets are laid on each night for dinner.

When you want to head to the beach, meanwhile, you’ve got a couple of options. The nearest sandy stretch is a ten-minute walk away, and it’s lined with parasols and loungers. Plus, Fig Tree Bay is five minutes away by bus. A long, golden stretch in the centre of Protaras, it’s one of the most popular beaches on the island.

Your guide to Protaras, Larnaca Region

“Less boisterous than Ayia Napa but with bags of Cypriot charm, Protaras is brimming with holiday fun.”

Less famous and frenetic than its noisy neighbour, Ayia Napa, Protaras is every bit as beautiful. With white sands, twinkling turquoise sea and more sizzling sunshine than you can shake a hat at, this is one paradise slice of Cyprus. The most popular beaches are Fig Tree Bay to the south of the centre and Pernera Beach to the north. But there’s a string of sandy coves and rocky inlets in between. So you’re not short on sun-trap spots to choose from. Scuba divers home-in on the rugged Cape Greco headland. Whereas snorkellers favour Fig Tree Bay. And all the beaches have plenty of watersports on offer too – from pedaloes and windsurfers to jet skis and parasailing, there’s a million and one ways to get wet here. Shopping-wise, there are plenty of gift shops and mini-markets peppering Protaras, and a couple of supermarkets in nearby Paralimni. And this purpose built resort has no shortage of eateries and entertainment options. Tavernas, restaurants and fast food choices sprinkle the streets. Feast on a traditional meze, twirl spaghetti round your fork or grab a hunger-busting burger – the choices are endless. The nightlife’s not on Ayia Napa’s scale but there's plenty of live music and karaoke bars, a handful of discos and a ‘light and water’ show. For a fun-packed beach holiday, Protaras is practically perfect in every way.
