This sanctuary-like hotel has plenty of designer style – and its location is second to none.
Completely rebuilt in 2007, the Napa Mermaid is the epitome of fresh, modern design. Its pool area is ultra-stylish, with cream loungers and sofas on the sundeck. And there’s a chic cocktail bar for the evenings.
It’s in a quiet part of town, just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Ayia Napa. Across the road is Grecian Beach, so sea views are par for the course.
Offering themed buffet dinners and fine dining in the trendy, modern set restaurant. Snacks and à la carte meal options are also available here. Smart casual dress code is required at dinner, gentleman are asked to wear long trousers. Children's early meals and highchairs are available.
Sad that i am writing this about a hotel my family and I visited last year then it was a pleasant experience as we loved the room, the hotel, the breakfast, the pool the everything but the standards were not as good this year seriously dropped. Could it be the austerity impact i don't know. I am a bit peeved at the alarming surcharge upon arrival for my two children which were incidentally in the same room as i had originally booked anyway. I expected to pay something but not over £700 so in total i paid £2300 for 1 week without flights for BB...for 7 days. Prior to my arrival i had stayed at the Kemerli Konak in the North in Kyrenia for 8 days for £800 two rooms and half board it was superb high stars and food exceptional. Anyway with this hotel I could not book the children in in first instance even though it was a two bedrooom via booking.com so i expected to pay perhaps £300 if that. it was a two bedroom grand suite.. i was taken back at the 1050 euro = £734 surcharge for 2 kids ages 13 and 11.what it was for they could not explain.
when we got to the room i was even more upset as the room had that lived in unclean feel...it was not like this last year there was no hint of anyone else living in the room we had last year. this year there were traces of the previous occupants, hairs on floor and the toilets just unbelievable. the pictures on line must have been photoshopped. it was tatty, loose tiles my daughter cut her foot. that aside there was broken glass on the floor it was just dirty. so i told front desk they sent someone up immediately, the cleaner bless her took out the toilet brush in front of me and started cleaning the toilet i know it sounds too much but it made me feel sick i had to ask her to stop it was so bad. so we left the room for them to give it that extra clean...it was the same when we returned so i did it myself... the back of the toilet had a layer of thick dirt had not been touch in a looooooonnng time. the tile was re-grouted only to be loose again. The bathroom had list on its screen and it smelt of damp.
anyway when we left the room for them to clean it we went for a swim. the pool area was dirty and lacked attention, the bar sticky, rubbish over flowing in the bins. grass growing in the steps leading into the pool... what a difference year makes.
spa don't bother, the masseuse will make you wait (at least 15 minutes) until her hair is blowed dryer before she invites you to come in for a massage..kidding right...i kid you not.
when i paid the 1050 euro i did not make too much of a fuss save to ask what it was for although i tried to get my head round what it was for....it certainly was not for the extra cleaning...they gave us food vouchers for 3 days one meal sitting...no disrespect but even the standards of the food went right down that Ayia Napa hill
your wi fi was also pants and switched off at 11pm...
now I'm sure the manager will respond with a comeback i was too fussy or something but look £2300 for BB i expect quality not a tatty tired room that needed a holiday too. the beds in our room were the worst i had slept in and got very little sleep in the room
Napa Mermaid you took my money but you did not provide the standard i expected its a shame a big shame
so value for money this year no I felt ripped offMore
Gorgeous hotel. Excellent service!
Outstanding hotel. Great staff who are attentive and ready to help. Clean and comfortable. Great position. Away from the trash and noise in Agia Napa. Could not have asked for more. Cannot imagine anyone speaking badly about this place! Had a great time!More

It deserves the best score
A hotel which will give you more than its expected. The best breakfast and dinner I ever had in a 4 star hotel. The rooms have anything you need. The staff wears clothes and a smile. We only had a little issue and the Hotels Manager really made everything right and made us feel that the guest are the priority and not the money. Excellent. Both for tourists and Cypriots who want a romantic weekend.More

Many customer facing staff lack basic English
In fairness, my wife and I were very impressed with this hotel- to the extent it felt far better than its official 3 star rating.
The breakfasts were excellent in range and freshness, with staff cleaning tables quickly and efficiently.
The rooms were usually cleaned well and early on in the day. We liked the fact new beach towels (in addition to bath towels) were provided twice a day. Though, we did have to make requests to get the beds changed.
The location of the hotel is also good- around 100-200m walk from the beach, in a quiet, family orientated part of town, but only a 5minute/ 8 Euro cab to town- plus, there are usually cabs parked directly outside the hotel.
The reception is run by a Swiss lady, so is effortlessly multi-lingual and run with Swiss levels of efficiency.
The evening drinks area (Andama bar?) is a wonderful, open air place to relax before leaving the hotel to get dinner. Andreas and Natalya deliver excellent service at all times.
However, throughout our stay we increasingly found that staff had difficulty understanding English. For example, room service did no understand the request for an iron and ironing board. (The iron had to be arranged through reception and had a number of crawling insects when it arrived). The spa staff did not understand the request to use their courtesy rooms- which, when used, lacked a supply of hot water!
So, generally a good place, but could do with paying more attention to the 'small' things.More
