Hotel Napa Mermaid

This sanctuary-like hotel has plenty of designer style – and its location is second to none.

Completely rebuilt in 2007, the Napa Mermaid is the epitome of fresh, modern design. Its pool area is ultra-stylish, with cream loungers and sofas on the sundeck. And there’s a chic cocktail bar for the evenings.

It’s in a quiet part of town, just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Ayia Napa. Across the road is Grecian Beach, so sea views are par for the course.

We ve been to this hotel for a weekend and were nicely welcomed by the reception staff. Our room was a sea view room, however its right in front of a busy road so bear that in mind when you book a sea view room. Our room was nice, had a complimentary bottle of still water, coffee/tea facilities and also various toiletries in the bathroom. It had a small balcony with a sea view which was amazing especially at sunset/sunrise. I heard the hotel has been recently renovated and I have to say that they ve done a good job. The facilities are brand new (pool, bar, restaurant etc) and also the spa/gym is very nice indeed. Also it should be noted that the hotel staff are very polite, professional and helpful. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choices available. The towel issue which was mentioned in an earlier review is really something the management of the hotel should look into. People just leave their towels on the pool sunbeds and then disappear. A good suggestion regarding this issue, if I may, will be for the pool staff to vacate sunbeds that have not been used for over an hour. Its just not fair for other hotel guests to not be able to get a sunbed and spend some quality time by the pool. When we saw this, we decided to go to the beach which is about 100 metres from the hotel. Unfortunately we had to pay for the sunbeds there, 7.50 euros for two sunbeds and an umbrella. Not fair, but had no choice really. Another thing I wanted to mention was the noise at night hours which can be very frustrating. Noise coming from other hotels nearby, noise coming from the hotel"s live bar music, noise from motorcycles passing through and also the buses. We close the balcony door to ease the "pain" a little bit. Overall a pleasant stay but next time I will try something different as the area is full of hotels.More

Quite sadly, I think it was our last time in Napa Mermaid

We've spent another week at Napa Mermaid in the beginning of August. I used to come here for 5 years because it was my guaranteed flawless vacation spot. Sadly, it is no more. Do get me right, I still think this hotel is better than the most in Ayia-Napa, its just comparing to previous years it got a bit worse... My concerns are mainly service wise - we stayed in a junior suite / paid 230 euro per night - no water in room upon arrival, was only brought after we asked - no towels in room after cleaning, only realized that after getting into the shower. Called both housekeeping and reception numerous times to no avail, had to dress and go down to the reception myself - last day we had a late check-out till 4pm. Came to room at 3 to find the bed linen was changed apparently for new guests and with a really spotty bedsheet put over it. I mean spotty. Not ours. Seriously spotty with the kind of spots you'd not want to see. And my pills from the bedstand was lying under the bedstand. How charming. - not all drinks are available at the pool bar. When do you realize this? As soon as you choose something which is not available, but not in advance. - some of the Andama staff were really hard to understand, language wise. One more thing that I am not tired of repeating over and over again - The towel game. It really got ugly this year at one point with 34 sunbeds booked by 9 am with no one on them till 11. And first ones were booked as early as 7.30am. Yes, its true you'd probably be able to find a spot somewhere. But perhaps not the one you'd prefer and the one you'll be watching being empty with a towel over it for most of the day. Our 'neighbours' of 4 days by the pool - a scandinavian family of 4 would hardly spend an hour altogether throught the day on their booked sunbeds. I wish the hotel would really do smth about it, as other hotels do. On the brighter side there were some renovation done over the winter and now the hotel sports a new Spa, new tennis court and bright pink (quite a questionnable choice of color though) pool towels. Clientele wise there are lost of scandinavians at the hotel (and in Ayia-Napa) this year. Mainly young and noisy ones. A previous reviewer said 'luckily not too many Russians'... Well, young scandinavians may be worse, believe me...More

Would like to be back soon

We stayed in this great place for one week from 28/7-4/8. It was one of the best vacations I have had. The hotel has been renovated 7 year ago, but still feels up-to-date. We were received in the reception by a nice woman, and check in was very quick, we didn´t even pay deposit - the woman said they trust their guests, and that was nice to hear. Even 5* hotels doesn’t have that service. Konstantin took our bags to the room on the 1st floor. It was the first room from the road. Don’t be afraid of the comments that says that rooms are very small - they are not. Plenty of space. Room were light and comfy. Bathroom was big and clean like the rest of the room. Nice rainshower. Very soft towels and good amenities and they were filled every day. We had a corner balcony with a sideview to the sea and furniture. Hotel is just 100m away from the nice Maistrali beach with the azure blue water. There is minibar in the room but little pricy and free safe box. Area around the pool was very clean, cozy, beautiful and comfy. Nice comfy sunbeds and even though the hotel were busy, we never had to “fight” to get a place. Pool area is situated well and you can see the sea from there. The bar was great, cocktails cost from 6 to 8 euro, same price as in the Ayia Napa town. Nice seating area with cabanas and soft sofas. All staff were nice and helpful with everything! The Hotel is situated just a short 15 min walk from the very busy, noisy and loud center of town, and on the way you will find many restaurants, shops and the like. Actually very nice to come back to the hotel at night, where it's calm and silent. We didn´t eat in the hotel restaurant in evenings, but lunch was great. Hotel has fitness room and spa area, but we didn´t try it. You get free nice pink towel which you can also take to the beach. On the beach you can get 2 sunbeds + umbrella for 7.50 euro. Free wifi, which some of the days we could even use at the beach, but you can also get free wifi on Maistrali beach too. Breakfast was big, tasty and varied, you can find something for all tastes. We enjoyed the hotel area very much, and all guests behaved nicely and luckily not too many Russians (which do not always behave as they should), but be aware that 70% of tourists in Cyprus are Russians. I would wish that this hotel was totally childfree, because the last two days there was a few families with kids, fortunately they were at the beach all day, and first came to the pool in late afternoon. All In all, great hotel, with helpful staff and nice atmosphereMore

amazing hotel

Me and my husband absolutely love this hotel, we went back in June for our 6th time! The hotel is beautiful, the staff are brilliant so welcoming and friendly. The food is very very Good. I totally relax when we go there, the location is fab, it's only 1minute from the beach, 5minutes from bars and restaurants and 10 to 15minutes from the night clubs. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any one. This time when we went I was pregnant and the staff couldn't do any more for me.More
