Hotel Napa Mermaid

This sanctuary-like hotel has plenty of designer style – and its location is second to none.

Completely rebuilt in 2007, the Napa Mermaid is the epitome of fresh, modern design. Its pool area is ultra-stylish, with cream loungers and sofas on the sundeck. And there’s a chic cocktail bar for the evenings.

It’s in a quiet part of town, just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Ayia Napa. Across the road is Grecian Beach, so sea views are par for the course.

Lovely hotel, amazing pool

I recently stayed at the Napa Mermaid (11th March until 15th March). I found the stay very relaxing and the service within the hotel is absolutely top notch. Particular highlights include the stunning view from the balcony, the pool and spa (very new and in fantastic condition), the bar and the overall décor. The breakfast room (dining hall) has an absolutely stunning view of the sea and the food is amazing. With all those positive comments in mind you may wondering why I didn't give this hotel 5 stars. Sadly I felt I could not give an excellent review as there are some very minor drawbacks which I think could be easily fixed. I have noted these have been mentioned previously and it does seem that any comments made are taken on board. The issues I found were that the showers were not adjustable in the room, at 6 foot 7 I generally don't fault a place for this but my partner who is closed to 5'10 found she was also having to duck to wash. As stated previously the air conditioning is not provided during the winter/spring, I generally quite enjoy this with any stay even in what might be considered milder conditions for locals. Finally (and this is perhaps a tad picky), I think that there are some limitations on the availability of English channels. I must admit I was rarely in the room so this was a fairly limited issue for me but it is something that is a slight draw back when it comes to giving an excellent rating. All in all I very much enjoyed my stay and would definitely visit this hotel again the future. As said it is very close to excellent and I can understand why others may give 5 and certainly wouldn't dream of giving any less than 4. Shall I say it's a very very strong 4 stars!More

Excellent Staff, lovely hotel

We stayed here for one night after flying into Larnaca airport. We were welcomed by a very polite lady who informed us we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite. Despite arriving an hour or so before check in time, they gave us the room straight away. The suite (number 254) was lovely, overlooking the pool and facing the sea. The suite was quite large with a big glass shower cubicle, separate toilet and two wash basins. Pool towels, bath robes and slippers were available in the bathroom as well as plenty of soaps, shampoo etc. The large comfortable bed was in the middle of the room with a duvet (not blankets) and a sitting area with a sofa, coffee table and work desk was at the far end of the room with patio doors leading out to the balcony. The room had plenty of wardrobe space, a safe, tea/coffee facilities and complimentary water. The Wifi worked very well, was free and was available throughout the hotel. The best part was the balcony, well furnished, sheltered and facing directly over the pool towards the sea (the sunset was very pretty). Despite the temperature being only in the high teens we were able to sit out there well into the evening. The location is a little out of the town centre (10 minute walk) it was quieter which suited us and close to the beach just across the road. The Breakfast - included in the rate we were pleasantly surprised at the choice and quality. Cereals, fruit, pastries and breads, cold cuts, several cooked items, tea, coffee, juices etc....they even served porridge! The staff regularly replenished the food and cleared the tables. We would recommend the hotel if you want a quieter more relaxed holiday. We would not recommend it for people who want to stay in the heart of the night clubs, bars etc, but if you are looking for a quieter, very comfortable and friendly break in Ayia Napa this is a great place to stay. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. As we left the cleaner wished us a pleasant flight and every member of staff we encountered spoke to us. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.More

Good value for money- renovated hotel..

Nicely renovated hotel in good location of Ayia Napa. Rooms were clean and modern but could do with some sound proofing as you could clearly hear noise from next door rooms and the hall way. Staff were friendly and polite and the breakfast buffet was substantial. Good value for money. Spa was small but nice addition and the Elemis Massage was excellent.More

minx0r28,

Pretty Good, but one disappointment.

We stayed for a couple of nights in Feb 2015. We arrived by car, and it's on the east side of the town, which I think appears the better side of town. The lady at reception was most helpful, and gave us a room on the 4th floor looking west - good for sunsets. The room was great. Slippers, robes and thick towels are provided, with good TV and room safe. The bathroom was compact, with a window to the room - with a roller blind for privacy! Lovely clean room, modern and tidy. Rooms have a terrace with a table and two chairs. The hotel has a gym and health spa. The receptionist there was most charming and helpful. The indoor pool was warm, with enough loungers for us every time we visited. Great sauna, and steam room. The gym was pretty good, with plenty of machines. We used the hotel bar, hosted by a friendly barman. On our first night we decided to fine at the hotel, as there didn't appear to be restaurants nearby. (February and cold outside!) The evening meal was a la carte, or buffet. We chose buffet, and I'm afraid to say we were disappointed. Maybe we were late in the evening? But, the wine waiter couldn't supply our first three choices of wine, and it's a little bit like dining in a well lit dining room. That was my only gripe, but it's not the best dining experience, accompanied by a very sullen waitress - we all have bad days, but don't bring them to my holidays! Oh wel That said, I had breakfast in the same room, twice, which was great. Lots of choice, and everything we expected was there. I would stay at this hotel again, and the price was great for our stay. It's pretty good, and close to very good, but one might consider a walk out for a romantic meal!More

Gorgeous Hotel - just great!

We arrived for a two night stay on 16th February. Drove up from Mandria, Paphos and arrived early but no problem for the Hotel. Check in - Lovely greeting by the receptionist, I apologised for being too early (1230) but it wasn't a problem. Just name needed and fill out usual paperwork - best of the lot we were upgraded to a "Junior Suite"!! The Room - Just wow! Huge room with his and hers sinks in the bathroom, extra king size bed, lovely lounge with two flat screen TV's, big sofa and chair. Massive sea and pool facing balcony, fluffy towels, slippers etc. Water in the fridge, minibar, tea and coffee etc. Loads of storage, more lights than a disco in the room etc. etc. Huge walk in shower was great with massive drench showerhead. Spotlessly clean. The bar - Lovely modern bar with inside and outside choice of comfy seats or bar stools at the bar. Service with a smile, savouries with the drinks and reasonably priced too. The restaurant - We were only B and B but asked at reception about the restaurant and was told for 20 euros each we could have the buffet. Good choice, it was a huge spread and we hit it lucky with "Cyprus night" with all the usual suspects - Kleftico, Stifado, vine leaves etc. etc. So well prepared and such a choice! The pool - Huge pool but obviously with the time of year we didn't go in. Lovely loungers all around and we did manage and hour or two of sunning and reading a book. The Spa - Most excellent facility if you want to relax, exercise, get Treatments. Very clean and with a lovely friendly receptionist to cater for any questions or requests. The area - Situated at the north end of the town, easy to get to on the ring road above Ayia Napa and only 15 minutes walk to the harbour. Few restaurants nearby but a lot closed due to off season. We ate out the first night in the "Eleana" - 5 minutes away and it was lovely. Overall - As nice a hotel as you can imagine, very clean and fresh - go and try it before the rush of summer! ENJOY :)More
