Wedding day

A fab hotel staff really make you feel welcome . We had our nephews wedding there and they go out of there way to make it a special day no matter how big or small your wedding party is. The rooms are good and food is excellent and if you want something they will try to accommodate you nothing is to much trouble. Little touches like cool flannels given out round the pool make this a special place. The staff work so hard.More

Great location but no where near a 4 star quality

At €275 a night, at a so called 4 star hotel you would expect near perfection. If you think I am exaggerating, I invite you to look at the photos I have uploaded with this review. The only reason I have not given a poor review is because my partner and I really enjoyed the pool and beach area. But back to the subject. As you can see from the attached photos, our bed was so inviting to come back to every day. 4 star quality right? And what can I say about the pillows, as soon as you placed your head on them, you were touching the mattress (not to mention the immaculate condition they were in, NOT). To make maters worst, I had to ask on a DAILY basis for facial towels and bath mats. Yes, a bath mat was rarely left for us. Now, you would also expect a 4 star hotel to have a business center right? Wrong. In this case, staff would kindly direct you to their partner hotel just a few meters down the road right? Wrong again. It almost seemed a nuisance to ask. When you go on a holiday and stay at what is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, you have certain expectations. After all you are paying for a level of quality and comfort. Unfortunately, Grecian Sands has a long way to go to achieve such 4 star standards. Maybe take a look at your partner hotel Grecian Bay for some inspiration. There is no apology needed from the hotel management. Your apologetic energy should be best placed on achieving 4 star service for your clients rather than spending it replying to online negative/average reviews.More

Lovely Location

We stayed from 15th July for one week to celebrate a special wedding anniversary and had a lovely time. The location of the hotel is ideal and spoilt for choice when it came to swimming in the sea or the pool. The sunbeds were plentiful and we enjoyed the waiter service when needing a refreshing drink (just press the button attached to each sun shade). We were offered ice cold face towels as well each day brought round by one of the members of staff, very nice touch. The staff were all friendly, breakfast was varied and your eggs/omelettes were cooked to order in front of you. Eating breakfast overlooking the sea was lovely. The walk from the hotel into the centre towards Ayia Napa took between 15/20 mins depending on how fast you walked, or a taxi was about 8 euros. The restaurants were varied and we never had a bad meal. Needless to say the night life in Ayia Napa should be left for the young! Would definitely stay at this hotel again.More

Great hotel

We had a really great time at Grecian Sands Hotel. We found the room to be clean although not of the standard as depicted in their photos. On arrival at the hotel, we were placed in a room with twin beds, not a double bed room as requested when we booked our room early on in the year. The gentleman in reception was not overly keen to change us to a double bed, even though the hotel was not very full at the time, but did so when we insisted. We found most of the staff to be pleasant but the reception staff would probably benefit from a bit more training. I would give the service 5/5 except for the reception staff.More

Ayia Napa, but not what you'd expect

I first stayed in this hotel 18 years ago. I recognised the name as I was browsing the internet, looking for a hotel. I remember even back then, it was a really nice hotel, right by the beach. Rooms are fairly spacious, and we were lucky to have a side sea view, which we wasn't expecting. Most of the hotel has free Wi-Fi, even in the rooms, and the safety deposit box was free. It's electronic, and a bit temperamental, and refused to open on two occasions, but a quick call to reception, and someone came up and re programmed it, so no hardship. Air con was also free. Rooms are cleaned every day, and towels and flannels changed daily also. You get cards for beach towels, and just hand them in at night, and get clean ones. We stayed on a b&b basis, and the breakfast was plentiful. Lots of choice, hot English fried breakfast, an egg station that you can have your eggs fried, poached, omelette etc... Cereals, fruits, yogurts, breads, pastries, hams, too much to choose from, and something for everyone. The rooms have uk plug sockets, as well as European ones. There are hairdryers in the room, but its the ones where you have to hold down the switch for it to work. There is a lot of sunbeds around the pool, and by the back of hotel, near the beach. These are free. Down on the beach, you have to pay for them, as it's not part of the hotel. If going down to the beach, be careful, as the stone steps are very uneven. Towels are put on sunbeds really early, and its a shame the managers don't remove them, but we never had a problem finding one. There is a small café down on the beach, but we only went there once, as its too expensive. There is a small chapel in the gardens of the hotel, as this is a hotel that caters for weddings, and we saw two weddings while we were there. The restaurants and bars just outside the hotel, are quite reasonable, and the hotel is at the quiet end of Ayia Napa, so no clubbers, and noisy music. Its a 15 mins walk to the clubbing end, past the harbour, and there is also a fair ground. The walk from the town back to the hotel, is slightly uphill, but there are buses that go right past the hotel. The restaurants seem to get cheaper, the closer to the noisier area, with a big selection to choose from. Mexican, Greek, English, Chinese etc... Lots of car hire places, and beach buggies, quad bikes, mopeds, cycles. Boat trip to Famagusta was a nice day out. It gets very hot during the day, even when I went in June, I got sun burnt, even though I used sun tan lotion. This hotel, has a hairdressers, and gym, sauna, and just up the road, they have a sister hotel called Grecian Bay, which is 5* and you can use their facilities. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends, and will definitely go again. Didn't really see much for children, although there was a play area behind the pool. No entertainment to speak of either, but there is too much to do, outside.More
