With just seven guest rooms, the Hotel Pasike prides itself on the warm, personal service it offers. Furniture has been carefully chosen to match the sympathetic renovation of this building as it was the family home of the owner, and the patina of antique wood adds to the charm and cosiness of the interior. At the Konoba at the front of the hotel you should take the opportunity to be served wonderful traditional dishes by staff dressed in authentic Dalmatian costume.
Trogir is a place of palaces and personality; a wonderful and unique island old town whose remarkable streets have been recognised as such by Unesco, and proclaimed a World Heritage Site. Its 15th-century walls enclose a delightful maze of backstreets and a jumble of Romanesque and Renaissance architectural styles which jostle sholders amiably and with suprising harmony. Trogir's history dates back to 3 BC, and though its monuments are rather more recent, there is a palpable air of history on the tiny island which houses the old town. Top of the list of attractions has to be the cathedral, whose west portal features extraordinarily intricate depictions of Bible scenes and life in the early 13th century when they were carved. These and other delights are on the doorstep of the friendly Hotel Pasike, though the charm begins within the walls themselves.
The location is unsurpassable; all amenities are within easy walking distance, whilst further afield, Split and Sibenik are within striking distance for fascinating day-trips. For dinner, the local restaurants are valued here for their variety as much as their quality. The local speciality of lignje na zaru - grilled squid - should not be missed.
