Guide to Supetar

'The pretty harbour town of Supetar, on the north coast of the island of Brac, is one of the liveliest destinations in the Adriatic.'

Supetar is named in honour of St Peter and sits on an inviting horseshoe-shaped cove. The long sandy beaches, edged with fragrant pine trees, are the main attraction. Shellfish served in various exotic flavoured sauces is a particular speciality of many of the town's restaurants. For getting out and about there's a regular bus service. Alternatively, being the main entry point on Brac, you can hire a car, motorbike or bicycle very easily. Once you've got your transport sorted take off and explore Kopacina Cave where Neolithic remains have been found, or see some of the many prehistoric hill forts and burial mounds scattered around the island. You'll discover interesting churches and traces of occupation by Greeks, Illyrians, Romans and more recently, the Turks, French and Austrians.
