Monte Mulini  

Brand new and ultra-modern, you'd expect Monte Mulini to look out of place in its national park setting, but it doesn't. Quite the reverse. Its glass panelling reflects the forest and sea views, making it look like a Kew Garden's glass house. And the clean lines are surprisingly subtle, detracting nothing from the beauty of Zlatni Rt park forest and the pebble beach below.

As for the pool area, it takes centre stage in front of the glass-fronted lobby. Its turquoise lengths are fringed by parasols, sunbeds and a pool bar where you can order a refreshing drink. Plus there's an indoor pool, sauna and steam room tucked away in the wellness centre. This is where you'll find the treatment rooms for massage and beauty therapies, too.

Inside, they've mixed bold designs with traditional touches. Take the bedrooms for instance. Decorated in natural shades they're tasteful, cosy and come with modern antique-style furniture. And flatscreen satellite TVs, soft lighting and generous balconies complete the look. While stone floors and complimentary bathrobes extend the luxury into the bathrooms.

There's more of the same modest elegance in the restaurant. With tiled floors, open stonework and wrought iron chandeliers it's got a Spanish Bodega feel to it. Plump-cushioned red chairs provide a bit of colour to the white and putty palette. And a tasty fusion of local and international cuisine is served with a side order of sea views.
