With its collection of pebbly beaches, warm crystal waters and a long promenade winding around an indented bay, Rabac is the best known holiday spot on Istria's eastern coast. Centred around a picturesque old village and harbour, the town has been increasing in popularity with visitors since the mid 19th century, attracted by the wonderfully clear seas of its coves and hideaway inlets. This former fishing village has all the attractions one would expect of a seaside resort, including numerous cafes, bars and restaurants, and the nearby hilltop town of Labin offers numerous folklore concerts and events throughout the summer months. The resort is very peaceful at the beginning and end of the season, however, in high summer it comes alive with its very popular local festivals.

Once you have worked up an appetite, why not drop into one of the several cafes and restaurants in which to try the local dishes, particularly the fresh fish caught by the local fisherman or the pasta dishes influenced by Rabac's proximity to Italy. If you still have the energy, there are a few pubs and discos for dancing into the night.
There is a small selection of shops selling tourist goods and regional souvenirs. Some good bargains can be found if you shop around. For even more shopping opportunities, take the short trip to Pula which has all the variety you would expect from Istria's largest city.
There are several boat excursions you can take around the coastline at sunset and day trips to further explore the surrounding towns and villages. There are excellent sports and recreational facilities on offer, as well as picturesque walks along the sea and inspiring cultural scenery. Overlooking Rabac is the hillstop town of Labin with its restored pastel-coloured houses, fascinating museum detailing the town's mining past, and a crowning fortress with dramatic views down to your resort and across to Cres Island. Local cultural activities such as Labin's folklore concerts at the end of July and a knight's lancing tournament in Barban in August provide a real taste of Istrian traditions.
