Hugging a big, beautiful bay, red-roofed Loviste has quiet bayside break written all over it. Located on the far northern tip of Croatia's Peljesac Peninsula, there's an unmistakably out-of-the-way feel here that's deeply soothing. A little fishing village with only about 250 inhabitants, the rhythm of life here is ultra-restful. Villagers make simple livings from fishing and running the few, good quality konoba sprinkled along the pretty harbourside. Or head for the buzzier beach at Viganj where windsurfing and kite-surfing rule the waves. Away from Loviste, set off for the vineyards cloaking Peljesac's interior, enjoying a memorable day tasting the peninsula's very own wines. Visit Ston, a gorgeous walled town close by or set sail for stunning Dubrovnik from Orebic. As a finale, return to Loviste to watch a glorious sunset set the bay blazing in radiant pinks and reds.
