Castelletto

They say the best things come in small packages - and that's certainly true of the Hotel Castelletto. Made up of just 13 guestrooms, it's incredibly homely. And this intimate feel extends beyond the hotel's diminutive dimensions. The staff go out of their way to make each and every guest feel welcome. Ask anyone who's been here and they're bound to say the same thing – that the service is excellent. The Castelletto is managed by a lovely Croatian couple and they believe it's the little things that make a big difference. Welcome drinks are often served. Now and again impromptu wine tastings are hosted. And they like to mark guests' special occasions with a little something, too. The hotel itself was built in the early 1980s and had a facelift back in 2004 when it was fully refurbished. Rooms are decorated in earthy colours and offer up studio-like facilities like ovens, hobs, fridges, microwaves and dishwashers, so you can rustle up a little something should the mood take you. Breakfast is taken care of though. The buffet's loaded with cereals, fruit and cold meats and there are usually boiled or scrambled eggs. And you can choose to eat outside in the garden or by the swimming pool. As to location, the Castelletto sits at the top of a hill overlooking Cavtat. It's about a 5 to 10 minute walk down to the harbour, plus there's a bus stop for those little forays into town and to the pebble beach. It's worth pointing out that some aircraft noise may be heard as the hotel's close to the airport but this tends not to interrupt proceedings too much. All in all, the Castelletto is a lovely little hotel that's great for couples.
