The family-friendly Valamar Crystal counts a close-to-it-all setting, a relaxing pool set-up, and lots of things to do as highlights.
This place has clinched a seafront spot in a pine forest clearing. You can walk to the ragged shoreline in a few minutes, and the Roman town of Porec is just a bit further on.
The hotel is well geared up for families, with lots of activities and separate pools for children and adults. Décor is cool and contemporary – rooms come with beech furniture and brightly painted feature walls.
The hotel's kids' club is for ages 4-12 years. Children have so much to do at this club called 'Maro' with games, sports and activities. They have their own bar with as much to drink as they need - and ice-creams and snacks by the pool in the afternoons.
Stayed here for 2 weeks as a couple who has visited Croatia on 2 previous holidays. The hotel and staff were bright and cheerful and the room was spotlessly clean and kept so by Klara our maid. As my birthday was during the second week for a surprise my husband ordered some flowers to be delivered to our room and so a gorgeous bouquet of a dozen red roses appeared whilst we were at breakfast. Our room was to the rear of the hotel where it was very quiet. The food and bar service was very good but very busy on Gala nights. We only used the swimming pool once as sunbeds were reserved early by the invisible families on their day trips !!!The resort was full of activities for young and old. Plenty of sun beds and umbrellas for hire and safe for swimming. Will definitely return again to Istria.More

Great Time from 10 to 84 yrs old.
Travelled on 21/7/15 as a family including my mother of 84 with mobility problems and uses a scooter to get around. We have visited Croatia before and knew that disabled access was not brilliant, but had no problems at all with the Valamar Crystal, the hotel had given us rooms 306/307 which where both excellent one with a bath with overhead shower the other a shower cubicle so we could chose which was best for my mum. Also there is access to the dining room from this floor. The staff where wonderful always on hand to help (yes I know its their job) but went far above what was expected of them. We loved the badges they wore saying how long they had worked at the hotel and the hand prints above the stairs in the dining room which were that of the staff , the dining manager explained that all their hands together made the hotel work. Tereza and Ana looked after us at meal times fetching things if my mum was struggling with the buffet, again a little kindness meant so much. The hotel grounds are well maintained beautiful the walk into Porec is easy but we did use the noddy train several times both ways which is a nice trip to see the surrounding area and coastline. The pools of the three hotels are clean and well maintained we used the seawater pool at the Valamar Crystal the most but also enjoyed the Valamar Diamant chlorinated pool. The pool towels are free to use and of good Quality you can change them as often as you like. Entertainment was above average we loved Valamar night the best though. Our only complaint isn't about the hotel but about the segways and scooters that use the coastal path they are hired to any one with little experience and saw several near misses of inexperienced riders and pedestrians, they really are a menace. On the whole though we loved our stay here.More

Very good hotel for a summer trip in Europe
Overall, our stay was good. The hotel is very busy in an area which is very poor to such hotel and services. They are good in making good programs for the whole family. Every night, there is a party for the kids and another for adults. Everyday, there is a schedule of different actions to be done fro every person in the family. The Swimming pool is very good containing Jacuzzi. Beach is not attractive but in two minutes walking. Beach sports are also available like Bicycles, Jet Skies, Banana Boats. Rooms are not very conferrable as we felt the heat different nights due to air-condition. I made a complain first day and found the engineer two days later. Toiletries and towels are not best quality. You better bring yours. Food is very good in Breakfast and Dinner. Reception staff are not as kind as sport and activity staff. After all, we had a good time.More

Fantastic Hotel in a Wonderful Location
I returned yesterday after spending 11 days there with my son aged 14, travelling as a single parent. It was a wonderful holiday and we were both very sad to leave. Our room was perfect (334), on the side of the hotel overlooking the sea through the pine trees and a little childrens play area. It was nice and quiet and clean with a lovely large balcony which got the sun late afternoon/early evening.
The staff in every area bar, pool, reception, restaurant, cleaning and maintenance were smart and professional all the time and not at all pushy. They were very helpful when approached.
In the morning we usually went for breakfast early (7.30am) and the restaurant was spotless with a nice selection of food. The Croatians seem to be keen on coffee and don't really understand tea. There were tea pots and cold milk but no little milk jugs, so myself and the other tea drinkers ended up using a second tea pot to put the milk in. It's a minor critisism.
My son tried the pool once but didn't really like it as it was small and cramped and salt-water I think. So after breakfast we tended to pick up our towels and find a sunbed under a tree. The gardens are gorgeous and spacious so not at all cramped up with others. Its also a very short walk down to the sea where there is so much much available to do. There's mini-golf, trampolines, climbing set up in the trees, a track for little quad bikes and mopeds. There really is something for every age group. Nobody visiting here would be bored. My son loved hiring a segway and did so 3 times whilst I sat in the bar drinking wine and watching the sun go down - perfect!
If you want to go into Porec centre you can either walk ( 15 minutes) or catch a little train at just 10 kuna (£1 approx) each person each way. We did a bit of both, when it was cooler we would walk and when it was too hot we'd wait for the train. It is worth a trip to the centre for a wander round, have an ice-cream and check out the various boat trips.
The only negative to this holiday was that there were dogs in the hotel and on the grounds which did unsettle me slightly, I've never come across this before. I'm scared of some dogs, but these were small "posh" dogs and most of the owners were responsible. Only on two occasions did I have to report to reception that there was mess on the gardens. If you don't mind dogs I wouldn't let this put you off. But as I say for me it was an issue.
To summarise....a beautiful area with lots going on, lovely, well-located hotel hotel with smart, professional staff and a short flight from England (2hrs 10 mins) and a speedy transfer. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday to friends and I would love to book again for next year!More

Lovely Hotel in Great Location
We weren't very impressed initially as there was loud music and dancing in the bar which backs onto reception ; we arrived at about 10pm. We were pleased, however, that dinner had been held for us even at that hour. All was well for the week ; the location of the Crystal is great. The gardens are well kept and extensive, and beyond them is the sea, and a walk along a promenade and through trees to Porec - about 30 minutes, or a little train can transport you. The staff in the Crystal are extremely friendly, and the reception staff are most helpful. Breakfast and dinner are amazing ; all buffet and the problem was trying to decide what to eat as there was such a huge choice. The swimming pool Is large with lots of sunbeds. The crystal clear sea is accessed from platforms, as there are few gritty sandy beaches. I would highly recommend this hotel, and Porec which is a lovely town.More
