The family-friendly Valamar Crystal counts a close-to-it-all setting, a relaxing pool set-up, and lots of things to do as highlights.
This place has clinched a seafront spot in a pine forest clearing. You can walk to the ragged shoreline in a few minutes, and the Roman town of Porec is just a bit further on.
The hotel is well geared up for families, with lots of activities and separate pools for children and adults. Décor is cool and contemporary – rooms come with beech furniture and brightly painted feature walls.

Disappointed after 30 years coming here â freezing pools and arrogant about it
My family have been regular guests in this hotel for over 30 years and were always happy with the service, the beautiful location and, foremost, the wonderful staff that used to work here. Our experience this May has, however, made us consider whether we would ever want to stay here again. Our main problem was the outdoor swimming pool which is advertised to be filled with 'heated sea water' While twenty or ten years ago, there was never an issue with that, the hotel's understanding of what 'heated' means has obviously changed in the last couple of years. The water temperature was merely 20â21 celsius, which is a big deal in May when the sea is even colder. This was especially an issue for my grandparents who cannot cope with the long walk to the old town anymore, leaving them with the pool area as the only suitable activity. No surprise that the pools were mostly empty while the hotel was not. We complained and were confronted with an incredibly arrogant response from the lady at the front desk, who was obviously completely unconcerned about the guests' wellbeing. It seems that recently the hotel management has changed its focus from providing a pleasant experience to making money with as little investment as possible. Another surprise at the end of our stay was that they have introduced an additional parking fee for the guests (even though that the hotel is in a remote location with an abundance of parking spaces on the grounds). I have a great deal of nostalgia for this place and some incredibly friendly staff still work here, however if my last stay was my only stay here, I would have said that the staff was hit and miss and the overall experience was pretty disappointing and low value for money. The Valamar chain has several hotels and resorts, with a focus on Istria. Like many other hotels, the Crystal is a Yugoslav-era building which had been re-furbished. Despite the architectural constraints of the time - narrow rooms, lots of visible concrete - it is now a modern, clean, nicely decorated hotel. Very close to the beach. Friendly and competent staff - most speak German and English fluently. Great breakfast buffet. Reasonably priced (but not inexpensive). Sadly, parking must be paid per day (3 Euro). 3 well maintained indoor tennis courts. Within walking distance to Porec old town. Well situated - if you have a car - to visit the nearby attractions of Istria. Altogether the Crystal is to be recommended for a short holiday.More

Just came back after 2 weeks holiday at this amazing hotel. ..We couldn't belive how friendly the staff were from the cleaning ladies ( Stana) to the reception. Our room looked onto the pine forest and was a joy to open the balcony every morning and smell them . We were very impressed with the food in the restaurant as so many countries to cater for. Thank you so much for our holiday we loved being waited on sitting on the terrace around the pool and lounge area . We will definitely be back . More
