Valamar Crystal

The family-friendly Valamar Crystal counts a close-to-it-all setting, a relaxing pool set-up, and lots of things to do as highlights.

This place has clinched a seafront spot in a pine forest clearing. You can walk to the ragged shoreline in a few minutes, and the Roman town of Porec is just a bit further on.

The hotel is well geared up for families, with lots of activities and separate pools for children and adults. Décor is cool and contemporary – rooms come with beech furniture and brightly painted feature walls.

October visit

Visited the Valamar Crystal on a coach trip and pleasantly surprised with the hotel and its staff. Due to unforeseen circumstances we arrived too late for dinner but the hotel left an excellent cold meal for our arrival. The rooms were very clean and superbly furnished and ours was on the ground floor at the back with a lovely big balcony looking towards the sea. The whole area is clean and well maintained and the seating area overlooking the pool was large and comfortable. We walked along the coastal path into Porec just in time to take a boat trip (which left at mid-day) to Lim Fjord. The trip cost approx £10 each for four hours. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and the buffet meals were excellent (hence the pounds we put on while there). There was not one single moan about the food as there was something for everyone. The only little downside was please take mosquito deterrent/cream as although it was the end of the mosquito season we had several bites and also the air conditioning had been switched off and it was warm at night.More

September visit

Pleasant hotel about an hour from Pula airport, there is a nice fifteen minute walk away from traffic, beautiful sea views and through woodland into the town of Porec. The path also used by cyclists and the regular road train for those not wanting to walk. The town of Porec consists of lovely cobbled streets with numerous places for coffee, lunches and the delicious ice cream all available at a very reasonable price. At the hotel there was plenty of choice to eat at breakfast, dinner good, although a little repetitive. Pool area very nice, well kept and clean and although there was a non reservation policy, this wasn't adhered to with Germans reserving areas from early morning and not appearing until later in the afternoon. The WiFi was free, however a different code was used each day available from reception.More

Worth its 4 stars

We went on a group tour and was very pleased with the hotel and its location. Very quiet area but only a short 15 minute walk into the town along a delightful coastal path. The hotel was modern with a nice bar area and good outside seating with large umbrellas overlooking the well attended gardens and sea. We had a very nice room with a large balcony overlooking the pinewoods and sea. Very good breakfasts and dinner was all that you could ask for- plenty of choice and freshly cooked, although the restaurant did have a bit of a canteen feel about it. Croatia is inexpensive even the hotel drinks were not overpriced. A bottle of the house white wine was £8.70 and by the glass £2.18!! At bars in town you could get two cups of coffee for about £1.80 or a glass of wine for the same price. Food was also good value, I had lunchtime pasta and fish dishes for about £4 each.Wi Fi available in lounge area.More

Superb Hotel, Great Location, Excellent Food, Great Staff & 2 Hrs from Bham!

Well, what can we say. This is the first time to Croatia having been to Egypt for three years and then Norway. We avoided Croatia as it has been very expensive in the past, although it is now more reasonable. We originally booked via Thomson to stay at the Island Hotel, Fortuna, however, we were contacted and advised that the hotel was closing early due to extensive renovations etc and out hotel was changed to the Valamar Crysyal. This is a 4 star hotel in a great location surrounded by pine trees. We were on the 4th floor and the room was well appointed and clean. The beds were a little firm but fine and the room was cleaned every day by Ana who was a lovely friendly lady. Breakfasts were buffet style and were superb, everything you could want for breakfast was available. Your coffee cup will never be empty and was forever being topped up. Lovely. Dinner was also superb, some nights were themed (fish, local, etc) and the food was freshly cooked and excellent quality. We couldn't fault the breakfast or dinner, honestly. The poolside area was great, the waiters (especially Radaovan) were excellent. Unlike Egypt, you can eat everything without fear. Another bonus is that you can drink the tap water too, although the water is very limescale heavy. The location of the hotel was amazing too, a short walk took you to the coast. Turn right, follow the coast and after 15 minutes walking you will come to the delightful town of Porec. We really really REALLY enjoyed this holiday and we're already planning next years holiday to the Istria Peninsula, might even be the same hotel!More

Dont miss this one

An excellent hotel situated in a delightful wooded area and well worthy of its 4 Stars.Rooms are well appointed and for those dining in, the food is of very good quality with both breakfast and dinner offering a wide choice to suit all tastes. The pool area and adjacent restaurant could not be better. For those going to Porec [pronounced PORRIDGE as in breakfast ] a pleasant 20 min walk can be taken on the coastal path with woodland on one side and sea on the other.Alternatively bicycles can be hired at reasonable cost or you can catch the frequent road train [very cheap] or hitch a ride in a rickshaw! Well recommended.More
