The family-friendly Valamar Crystal counts a close-to-it-all setting, a relaxing pool set-up, and lots of things to do as highlights.
This place has clinched a seafront spot in a pine forest clearing. You can walk to the ragged shoreline in a few minutes, and the Roman town of Porec is just a bit further on.
The hotel is well geared up for families, with lots of activities and separate pools for children and adults. Décor is cool and contemporary – rooms come with beech furniture and brightly painted feature walls.

Beautiful and Relaxing
We have just returned from a 2 week break in beautiful Porec - this was our third visit to what has become our favourite place in the world. The previous 2 visits we stayed at the Valamar Isabella on the island, which is an amazing place. This year however, the price for the Isabella went up by something silly, around £1200, which for us was not sustainable. So we chose the Crystal instead. We were worried that we would be staring wistfully over to the island wishing we had been staying there. However, we needn't have worried - the Crystal is a perfectly lovely hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Not once did we wish we were back on the island - in fact we didn't even bother to go over and visit it - we were more than happy where we were. The crystal is set back slightly from the sea front, in a wooded area, a short walk away from the town. We found the walk to the town more than manageable, only around 20 minutes, and it was a lovely way to walk off a bit of dinner. The walk back is a bit lonely on a night, but you can get to noddy train if needed. Room was fine, and quite big, view over the surrounding wooded area. Bathroom was nice but shower not the biggest. No 2 person showers this year!:) The buffet was lovely, with plenty of choice and all beautifully presented. We did find that it was better to wait until around 8pm before going in as on the rare occasions we were a little earlier it does get very hectic in there. But the staff work very hard to keep things working. I loved the pool area - the pool itself was nice and warm, slightly salted but not overpowering, and it was never too busy. In fact, we never once found a problem with getting loungers, no matter what time of day we showed up - for once it seems that the hotel wasn't plagued with people trying to block the beds all day. There are signs up all over advising people that they can't do this and it seemed to work. The evening entertainment was standard hotel fare, but you can take your pick from entertainment in each of the 2 Valamar hotels (one on each side of the Crystal). But we preferred to stroll into town each evening. Overall, I had a wonderful time and if the Isabella is now being priced for people with more money than sense then I would not hesitate to return to the Crystal - I don't know why we were worried.More
This was our first time in Croatia. The hotel is nicely situated close to the beach and within easy reach of the centre of Porec. The hotel was very pleasant and all the staff were very friendly and eager to please. There was plenty of space to sit around the pool or on the terrace. Buffet style meals had plenty of food and waiting staff on hand to provide drinks and clear away between courses. Evening entertainment was available every night on the terrace where you could relax with an after dinner drink. The swimming pools at both the Crystal and Diament hotels were excellent as were the poolside cafes.More
A lovely holiday
Just returned from a week at this Hotel. We enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful, obliging and worked very hard any queries were dealt with quickly and with a smile. Our room, 410, on the fourth floor, was peaceful and spacious, and kept spotlessly clean as was the rest of the Hotel. There was good choice of food both at Breakfast and Dinner so no need to go hungry. The first hour at Dinner did get busy at times but again the staff worked hard to ensure guests got seated and drinks served promptly. At the rear of the Hotel there is plenty of room to sit out, in pleasant surroundings, in the sun or in the shade and for those that wished an excellent pool.. All in all a good holiday, and for those that like a cuppa in their room it it possible to hire a kettle from receptionMore

Good hotel overall but let down over a few issues
We came to this hotel recently with another couple of friends. On the positive side, the room was very comfortable and probably the most comfortable bed I have had in a hotel when I have holidayed abroad. Nice balcony although didn't sit out on it. Decent bathroom with shower, and the maid kept everything clean and shipshape. Food was in general good , although the evenings were a bit samey after a few days, especially the desserts which were a bit bland, but there was plenty of fruit. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. There was plenty of room to sit out under the trees on sunbeds as long as you got out early enough to put your towel on them. Negatives. Felt having to pay for water at dinner a bit much at 28 k. a bottle. We only did that twice and then realised how much we would have to pay at the end of the week, so we took our own bottle of water in every time. I don't like doing things like this really but in the heat that we had there , needed the water and didn't feel we should be paying for it. The air conditioning for us was a little noisy and we would rather sleep with the French doors open anyway, however we couldn't as there was a generator nearby which had a humming noise and on most nights there was something outside which went " beep beep " most nights. The noddy train which seemed a great idea was impossible to get on at our hotel to go into Porec after dinner as it was always full from the stop before so we gave up trying and walked instead. The bars nearby were a dead loss and very dreary we thought. The shop in the hotel was pathetic, open very few hours in a day ( why) and not open at all on a sunday, and there was very little in it really but when we occasionally fancied a chocolate bar it was shut. Perhaps it was so you felt tempted to use stuff from the mini bar in the room. We weren't tempted at these prices though. Overall we had a reasonable break with friends but would not recommend it to others. Sorry. We just feel that with a few tweaks things could be so much better.More

Perfect summer getaway
My son and I took a quick weekend getaway to the Valamar resort in Porec and stayed in the Valamar Crystal hotel. It's definitely a resort complex with buffet breakfast and dinner included. The hotel is right near the beach with a lovely (saltwater) outdoor pool and quick beach access. The entire area is serviced by a plethora of facilities - a trampoline and adventure park, multiple restaurants, beach access, boat and jetski rental, parasailing... Even a little tourist tram to take you into Porec old town. It was the perfect summer getaway - I wish we'd booked a week instead of a weekend.More
