The family-friendly Valamar Crystal counts a close-to-it-all setting, a relaxing pool set-up, and lots of things to do as highlights.
This place has clinched a seafront spot in a pine forest clearing. You can walk to the ragged shoreline in a few minutes, and the Roman town of Porec is just a bit further on.
The hotel is well geared up for families, with lots of activities and separate pools for children and adults. Décor is cool and contemporary – rooms come with beech furniture and brightly painted feature walls.
The hotel's kids' club is for ages 4-12 years. Children have so much to do at this club called 'Maro' with games, sports and activities. They have their own bar with as much to drink as they need - and ice-creams and snacks by the pool in the afternoons.

Stayed in small single room with park view. Air condition (ie. heating those days) didn't work but all other things make you forget about that one thing. Abundant breakfast (one of the best I've seen in hotels) and kind personel make you feel very cosy. Would like to come back again!More
2nd time, and still love it
Just had a week here, and loved all of it. (We came 2 years ago). The lobby has been decorated, and the furniture, blinds and lights in there have all been replaced since we last came. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean, never a leaf/bit of paper/cigarette end etc anywhere.
The range of different foods at both breakfast and dinner was huge and varied. The staff are all very obliging, friendly and hard-working.
The entertainment was good, although there wasn't any for last night or the night before, as the football was shown on tv - not that it bothered us anyway.
We loved this hotel, and Porec itself, 2 years ago, and still loved it this time. I definitely want to go back (having been to several countries, I've never wanted to go anywhere else for even a 2nd time)
As before, I couldn't find a single thing to not like.More

What can I say. Firstly no negatives only positives. The hotel is situated in its own beautiful grounds sloping gently down to the sea. The lounge/ bar areas are spacious with very comfortable seating to relax after a busy day. The restaurant is large with plenty of tables and the staff are quick to clear crockery between courses and were helpful and friendly. The show cooking is fantastic and although buffet you can be certain everything is freshly cooked and hasnt been hanging around. The salad choices are excellent and every night there was a selection of hot meats and fish , vegetables and sides as well as pizzas and risotto. If anything the desserts could have been a bit more varied. The wine was good and cheap.Breakfasts were also show cooking with bacon sausages, muchrooms, etc etc and eggs cooked to order as well as pancakes cooked in front of you. We had to change our excursion with Thomsons so had to book one through the hotel which was simple and the young lady was very polite and helpful. There are lots to choose from directly from the hotel. The walk into Porec takes around 15 minutes through the woods along the edge of the sea andis very pretty with several bars on the way.One thing which helped to make our holiday very memorable was the very comfortable bed. After so many holidays abroad sleeping on a" board" this was luxury and you should be proud Valamar Crystal.I forgot to say that the pool is beautiful and the salt water was lovely to swim in. Part of the pool has a jacuzzi. I would say this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and Croatia is a beautiful country so we will be back next year. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.More
Fantastic stay, excellent hotel and location! A must stay!
We stayed here for a week on the recommendations of family members who had been here and to other areas of Istria previously.
We were not disappointed! The hotel itself is pleasant from reception and throughout. Our check in was quick and efficient and we were able to check in as soon as we arrived at 10:30am. The room was small but perfectly functional and clean. The only downside of the room was that we had 2 single beds pushed together rather than a double bed that we had booked. We had a nice view of the pool through the trees and the balcony area was very pleasant. The bathroom looked quite new and the shower was brilliant! There was no problem with water pressure or temperature at busy times which you often find in a big hotel. As well as bath towels, the hotel provide large blue towels for use by the pool or the beach.
The staff were friendly and helpful and always greeted us with a smile. The housekeeping was excellent throughout our entire stay and the room was always cleaned before we returned from breakfast.
The food had a great selection, from typical English choices to the more local options and there was a variety of fish and meats.
We were expecting to just go to the reception bar if we wanted to use the WiFi but the signal was excellent at every part of the hotel (better than ours at home!) which was an added bonus.
We would say the hotel is in the perfect location, just minutes from the sea and only a short (and very lovely) walk into Porec. There are lots of bars and water sports along the coastline with areas to sunbathe all the way with steps down into the sea.
We would HIGHLY recommend staying at Valamar Crystal when visiting Porec whether you are travelling alone, in a couple, group or a family. The atmosphere is relaxed and you couldn't ask for more from a hotel in terms of cleanliness, good food and excellent staff.More
Lovely Hotel And Staff
Stayed here for a week on my first visit to Croatia. All staff at hotel were very helpful and friendly. I had a room on the fifth floor, and as a single traveller was quite surprised to have the same size and standard of room as other couples, which was a bonus as I had not paid a single supplement either.
I used the outdoor pool and hot tub on several occasions, plenty of sunbeds around the pool and dotted around the grounds. Also a terrace above the pool with another outdoor seating area.
Food was plentiful and all very fresh at breakfast and dinner. Service from waiting staff was excellent, and drinks were all reasonably priced, a bottle of wine in the hotel was about £10.
Location of hotel is a 15minute leisurely stroll to the centre of Porec. There's a little train that runs not far from the hotel and was only about £1 to go into town if you preferred not to walk.
The only thing I would say is that if you are going to have a day out in Rovinj and are considering catching the bus, please double check return bus times. Thomson reps provided several of us at this and other nearby hotels with incorrect return bus timetables, and being faced with no return buses from 3.00pm until 8:20pm we ended up having to get taxis back to the hotel...which was very costly and as usual reps were unapologetic.
Also the BBQ cruise to Rovinj/Vsar that Thomsons offer can be booked for cheaper with the man selling the excursions by the little hut, just as you leave the back of the hotel and head towards the walk way into Porec. You get picked up at the hotel and taken to exactly the same boat, for the same trip as you would booking through Thomsons.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone. If you are a solo traveller it is lovely to stay in and I felt very comfortable wandering into Porec by myself, and the Croatians were all very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning some time soonMore
