It was OK not amazing
We stayed here as part of a package holiday from Thomson, was sold as a Platinum hotel, so we expected a bit more then the norm and we were left disappointed. Pros: next to the beach, excellent drink selection, the staff were generally polite and accomodating. Bulgarian and Asian resturants were a nice change from the normal buffet. Cons: our room had the worst view I have ever come across (pictures attached to the review), it was overlooking a half finished shell of a hotel, with homeless people living inside hanging up their laundry. There were two fly tips on this site, and was a great eyesore to look at. The room was next to the main road, and was loud at night. The swiming pool although looked large and inviting was at least 4oC colder then the sea, and hence only the hardiest souls ever dips their toes in. I never saw anybody spend any great lenth of time in thei pool. This wass a great shame to me as I am an avid swimmer and really enjoy outdoor pools normally. The sunloungers although plentiful, were often in the shade of the hotel. I honestly believe that if we were given a room with a sea view, I would have rated this four star, however our room was awful, and the freezing swimming pool really tipped the balance.More

First and not the last visit!!
Young couple! Sunny Beach is SO CHEAP!!! Everything about the hotel was perfect! A little quiet but not far from excitement! Gorgeous large rooms, fab views, AMAZING FOOD, cold pool, perfect location 5 minute walk from Sunny Beach, peaceful distance away from noise yet perfect walking distance to enjoy the bars, markets, 5d cinema, dress up shops, shisha bars, restaurants and clubs in Sunny Beach every night!!! All Inclusive runs out at 11pm... afterwards walk into sunny beach and find the 1 Lev big beer restaurant 40p for a 'big beer' is AMAZING! Beach front, close enough to hotel to nip back for drinks or the bathroom however there are 'happy hour every hour' bars on the beach for some REAL cocktails! Amazing sea and beautiful beach. Couple of grumpy elders who didn't like me and my boyfriend giggling quietly by the pool, but I'm sure they wont be there again!!! Fab place, will be returning!!!!!More

Hotel was great but nothing to do when it rains!
We had an all inclusive week in the Hotel Rui Helios last week of September. It rained for 4 days out of the 7 we were there - so much for the average temps being 25deg in September and the rainfall below average - they lied!!! The hotel was really good but by the end of the week the food was getting repetitive. Rooms were lovely and we had one overlooking the pool area. The pool wasn't used much as the water was freezing - it was better going for a dip in the sea! Only the brave entered the pool......! The week we were there, all the attractions were starting to close and by the end of the week most things were boarded up and everyone gone. The holiday rep was no-where to be seen in the hotel either, just a phone number to contact if there was anything wrong. We were told before we went that the hotel had a beach bar which was also all inclusive to us but when we got there the beach bar had all been boarded up - we were a bit disappointed with that. Don't go on the Market and Malls Tour - it's rubbish!! A complete waste of money. We went to Khan's tent and it was okay, but if you didn't want beer or wine, the drinks were very pricey. The acts they had on were superb though. Definately won't be rushing back to Bulgaria.More
Great as always
We had another great stay at Riu Helios this summer (6 nights in late August , early Sept.). This was our 4th visit at the place and everything was great. Clean room and bathroom, very good food, polite staff. Most of the staff is the same from last years at the bars and restaurants. Very nice team, helpful and always ready to assist with a smile which is very good, considering the late season when usually the staff is tired. The animation team was new and definitely doing a very good job on the evening shows. We were really impressed and it was fun every night. The hotel was not full and it was easy to find sunbeds on the pools which is always an issue in high season. We'll definitely visit again.More

Just got back from this hotel and were impressed. Have stayed in several RIU hotels and this one is well up to par. Hotel is clean as a new pin and the rooms are large and comfortable. The food on offer is good quality and varied and the drinks did not seem to be watered down as they are in some places, Unlike many RIU hotels this one is right in the middle of things - not that there are many things to be in the middle of but that is probably due to the fact that we were right at end of season. Still, we went for a rest and that is what we got. Took a taxi to Nessebar old town - to be honest a bit disappointing some lovely buildings but great accent on retail and shops were selling basically same things as Sunny Beach but they cost more. So we jumped back in the taxi and came back to the hotel for a nice lunch and a sit by the pool. All in all most enjoyable week and would visit again without hesitation.More
