Management of the hotel must congratulate the fantastic staff working at the Riu Helios. Loveliest team we've come across in any hotel. The lady who cleaned our room 4154 was so happy every morning it was a pleasure to see her. The animation team could not be faulted. All dedicated to their job , friendly and encouraging but certainly not too pushy. Always had time to chat and worked their socks off morning to night. Lots of varied activities during the day and a fair mixture of evening entertainment.
The bar staff were fab too, quick on the ball service always with a smile. They were fantastic with my son and his friends who were aged 10 to 14 . I'm sure at times the boys were a little loud and annoying but the bar staff took time to chat with them, high fived them as they passed and taught them card tricks. Absolute stars they were.
Hotel is great, plenty of sunbeds lovely clean rooms, various seating areas both inside and out. Food in main restaurant was very good , nice range of meat dishes, excellently cooked vegetables ( compliments to the veg chef) beautiful salads and a great range of deserts and icecream. Beautiful pizzas, chips, burgers and hot dogs are available every meal time so even fussy kids would be happy here. The restaurant is kept imaculatly clean , again staff here work really hard and do a superb job. Only negatives were the soups (of which I'm a big fan) were not to my taste most of the time and the coffee isn't great. But having read this in a previous review I took my own.
We loved the Asian restaurant so much we went twice. A must if you book this hotel food was gorgeous. Really great snack bar too, certainly not left over food from main restaurant or plain cake etc which some hotels provide . Pizzas were freshly cooked, burgers, fries, hotdogs, sandwiches, salad, fruit, cakes and icecream all available till 5pm . Smashing for kids who just want to pick throughout the day. The snack bar also had hot and cold drinks machines as well as lager and wine taps to help yourself to, rather than always going to the bar which was great.
Location was great half an hour run from airport and situated right on the beach. Plenty of shops and bars just outside of hotel. Trips to Nessebar, waterpark and Khan's Tent all 10/15 minutes away on bus.
WiFi isn't an essential for me and even my 11 year old didn't miss it. We didn't even use the total 90 minute free we were given. We face timed home once from hotel and decided against paying for more. Instead we went to bar 3 minute walk from hotel and used their free WiFi a couple of times.
I do think safety deposit boxes should be part of the AI deal . The 55 lev for 11 days was my biggest negative with hotel.
Overall I would definately recommend the hotel and will certainly be looking at Riu hotels next time I book a holiday.More

Great Hotel great holliday
My Wife and our two grown up grand kids 13 17 had a week in Riu Helios from 3-10 August. We had an up grade two bedroom room. We could not have asked for more. The room over looked the pool and beach. The hotel was clean and the food was great. The Asian restaurant was Brilliant we went twice. Just outside the hotel was loads of shops and just a short walk was a fun fair with rides just like Thorp Park. I would recommend this hotel to grown ups with or without children. A great Hotel A great holiday.More

Fabtastice Family Holiday
This was my first all inc holiday and I will definately go back. We stayed at the Rui Helios Hotel from 07/08/2015 - 17/08/2015 and had a really great holiday. We travelled as a party of 3 adults and two children aged 6 and 8 years old. We arrived just after 10pm on the Friday evening and were checked in quickly and were given bottles of water. We then went out for a bite to eat and there was plenty of choice in regards to restaurants.
The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well presented. We had a room overlookng the pool on the second floor and during the day we got glorious sunshine. The wifi was a bit poor, but it wasnt an issue as we were too busy having a great time.
We ate at the snack bar and main resturant mainly and dined twice at the Asian resturan (which you have to book 24 hrs in advance). All restaurants were very clean and staff worked hard to clear tables quickly.
Both pool areas were always clean and there was a life guard present, who would regulary walk around the pool There was always plently of sun loungers available and the atmosphere around the pool was famility oriented.
The animation team were very engaging and managed to get myself and sister to join in with the games. The kids club kept the boys entertained and they really enjoyed making t shirts and going on the treasure hunts. The kids disco was alright, a bit repetative for the adults but again the boys really enjoyed it. The entertainment was alright on the nights that we went and we particualry enjoyed the African Dance show.
The hotel is loacted near to the busy strip and you can walk through the hotel grounds to access the beach.
The strip does get very busy at night and even though it is close to the hotel, the sound is blocked out by the double glazing.
Everything is close by and easy to access, buses, shops etc. There are two aqua parks near by and they were cheap entry fees for the day.
It was our first time to Bulgaria and we are looking to book againMore

Not a typical Riu Hotel
This is not a typical Riu hotel, we are avid Riu customers, and this hotel falls short in quite a lot of the Riu behaviours and values, only glad we have stayed in others before. If this had been or first Riu experience , would never use the chain again.
We found staff rude, lazy and unhelpful in the restaurant and bar areas.
Bar staff got drunk, drinking shots with customers, lifeguards were present, but never seen except to give towels out, or on their mobiles.
I will say the hotel is lovely and well maintained, housekeeping, reception and animation team do work hard and are very pleasant, and helpful.
The management need to address staff attitudes, and manage the staff in the above areas, as they seam to be just left to do what they want. There's more, but the page is not big enough. One thing we won't be back, and it's the first Riu hotel we would not return to. Highly disappointed .More
