We've just returned from our holiday, 11 nights at this hotel, and already we're looking to book again for next year. We first visited at this time last year and we were pleasantly surprised at the hotel. The staff are lovely, the location is great, right next to the beach, the food and drinks are plentiful and there is almost always a very good choice. We never had trouble getting sunbeds around the pools. The rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard. The manager is visible around the hotel site every day. There are hundreds of shops, bars, restaurants etc in close proximity to the hotel but the hotel itself is not noisy. We found the local stall holders to be friendly and not at all pushy. Two must visit places are Nessebar ( bus or boat or walk along the beach) and a night at Khans Tent. We had a great holiday at this hotel & will definitely return.More
Great hotel - shame about Bulgaria
You could not fault this hotel it was spotless!! Receptionists were always polite and help with any problems. Only bad point i can say was that the hotel was full of Germans who in general are very rude and have no manners what so ever!! The food was ok, the Asian and Bulgarian restaurants were great and never had a problem booking into them. Bar staff were great always quick to serve. Never had a problem getting a sunbed by the pool. Bulgaria it self is great if your young or on a stag do and jus want to party, as alcohol is very cheap and there's loads of bars clubs strip clubs to keep you busy all night, going as a couple or a family I could think of a lot more nicer places to go, in sayin that I'm glad I went to experience the place but don't think I'll be going back. We are a family with 2 big boys and booked 2 rooms.Big rooms, nice and clean. Breakfast had everything, lunch was mostly poor, dinner mostly good. We had 2 evenings in Bulgarian restaurant (you can book as many evenings as you want) and enjoyed the food . One evening in the Asian restaurant but we didn't like it, food was too sweet for our taste. We had a problem because we arrived at 2 pm and we couldn't get towels. They had programm only in the morning and in the afternoon you could only give the dirty towels away. We complained at the reception and one of the employees gave us 2 towels from their staff room (nice gesture). All in all, we would gladly repeat the experience of staying in this hotel.More

Fantastic first trip
We went to Riu Helios on a first family holiday as a party of 3 (myself, son 16, daughter 14). Arrived in middle of a thunderstorm and thought what have we let ourselves in for. Received a very friendly welcome at hotel, checkin went very smoothly and we were shown to our room. Got about 4 hours sleep, then got up for breakfast. Opened the balcony doors and the heat just hits you. The meals were very good, always plenty of choice The hotel is spotless, a team of cleaners is on 24 hour duty. Rooms are cleaned daily, and the maids are fantastic. Our maid (Hatche) couldn't do enough for us. The animation team work very hard, all day from Monday to Saturday (they deserve a day off on Sunday) with darts, shooting, water polo, boules, beach volleyball during the day, as well as kids clubs, then the evening entertainment at night. The only down side is the cocktails in the bar. They are not fresh but made from a syrup, but this is the norm for most of the hotels in the area. We had a 6th floor room overlooking the pool with a sea view. Well worth it, especially if you wake to see the sunrise over the bay at 06:30. My son and I have been today to book up for next year. Bobby, Yana and the rest of the animation team, beware, the Wolfpack is coming back !!!!! If you want great cocktails very cheap, go out the beach gates and walk into the Watermill bar. See Vladi, Asen, Deso and the crew. We went in a group, ordered 15 cocktails (happy hour turned it into 30) 4 bottles of Becks beer, 4 bottles of Magners, 4 cokes and a huge plate of cheesy chips for 110 leva (about £40)More

Feel safe at Riu Helios while in Bulgaria!
Riu Helios is among the best things experienced in Bulgaria. We liked lots of things: very good location, comfortable rooms, excellent food at any time of the day, Bulgarian and Asian restaurants are worth visiting, two swimming pools, direct access to the beach, well-kept area, very polite and efficient staff, etc. Doctor's office is located right at the hotel, which turned out to be extremely helpful, since lots of people get sick because of the dirty water of the Black Sea. On the negative side, a couple of things should be mentioned as well: very slow lifts, quite poor animation programme, mediocre quality of cocktails served at the hotel's bars, unavailability of good coffee anywhere at the hotel. Would definitely return to Riu Helios hotel, but never to Bulgaria!More
