This smart-looking hotel scores a double coup – it sits on the beach and has a great pool scene, too.
The Hotel Riu Helios Bay stretches out alongside a sandy beach, so it’s ideal in terms of location. What’s more, it’s less than a 5-minute walk from the pretty town of Obzor.
With whitewashed walls, arched balconies and a terracotta roof, this place is classically good-looking. And in terms of accommodation, plush carpets and mahogany furniture stand out against cream walls. It's had a full refurb for May 2017, with a refresh to all rooms, a bigger main restaurant and lobby area, and a brand new karaoke bar.

Have just returned from a lovely 2 week holiday in Obzor staying at the Riu Helios Bay. We found the hotel staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very well maintained and very clean. The restaurant has a good selection of hot and cold buffet but we found that by the second week the food was a bit repetitive. The pool and outside areas are well looked after but you do need to be up around 7 in the morning to get sun beds. I did witness the management removing towels from beds not been used around 11 ish which I personally think is a good thing. The pool area does lack music which most other hotels I've been in have had, this does add to the pleasure of relaxing by the pool. This may make me sound like a grumpy old man but I feel the hotel needs to enforce some of it's own rules, such as the rules for the jacuzzi. These say things like only 15 minutes per stay and no under 12 year olds. Each time I tried to used the jacuzzi I found it full of small children using it like a splash pool jumping in and out, even saw someone giving a child swimming lessons in it. None of the hotel staff seem to notice or care about these matters. My other complaint would be people walking around in the indoor pool side restaurant in just swim wear. It only takes 30 seconds to put a t-shirt on. After saying these things I still found this a lovely hotel to holiday in.More

Very clean friendly hotel
We have just returned from a week at Helios Bay and it is a fantastic hotel. The hotel is completely spotless and all of the staff are helpful and friendly. There is a lot of variety at dinner and the Asian restaurant is especially good. The rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious. The one issue we had was getting a subbed near the pool on one day but there are other beds away from the pool on a little beach within the hotel. A great relaxing holiday in a fantastic hotel. More

Excellent holiday once again
We have been to this hotel five times and it seems to get better and better. The reception staff were always extremely helpful and the bar staff were excellent. The hotel has undergone changes over the winter and the renovations are in good taste. The food is good with plenty of choice - not sure why people complain about the food when it would be difficult not to find something you like. Everywhere was extremely clean which is a credit to the staff. Paying for beds and umbrellas on the beach is a negative and put extra pressure on finding beds around the pool but it is to be hoped the hotel can sort this out for the future. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and we will hopefully return next year. Finally a big thank you to Bilyana, the Assistant Manager - she is a real asset to the hotel and nothing is too much trouble for herMore
We have just returned from a week away at the Riu Helios Bay - what a fantastic time! Myself, partner and 8 year old son really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean, the staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. The food is good, plenty of choice in the main restaurant, the Spanish restaurant is a bit repetitive during the day but is good for snacking and lunch. There is a dress code for the restaurant but I have to say a lot of people didn't adhere to it (men should wear trousers) and at lunch some people were just wearing their swimwear....overall it is a brilliant place and I wouldn't hesitate to book to go back another time.More
We have been to this hotel for the 3rd time and again had a fantastic time, the renovations they have done are great. The hotel is is spotlessly clean a great credit to the cleaning staff.Food is good plenty of choice to cater for all tastes.Pool good but if you want a sunbed you have to be up early as most have gone by 8.30am.My only criticism was the entertainment, not as good as the previous 2 visits.Great credit to bube and Alex on the animation team they were fantastic they were the only ones to make the effort to interact and engage with conversation with us.Bar staff great especially niki.Would go back for 4th time? Yes I would.More
