Honeymoon - great service, great staff
My husband and I arrived here for our honeymoon and from start to finish it's has been amazing. There were only a couple of thing we noticed when arriving and it wasn't anything much but other honeymooners had banners on their doors and we didn't, also other people had a bottle of champagne in their room and we didn't. The hotel is lovely and clean, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing! It's great that you have the different restaurants...our favourite was the Italian. Most days we were in the adults swim up bar area on the Bali beds and the atmosphere was so chilled. Occasionally it did get a little bit loud with wedding guests but they weren't there for long. Around the adult pool, there was one person in particular who was always so happy and smiling and just a genuinely lovely lady, her name is Bettyna (Bettyna the Mexican 😂). She is great with people and she made our days so good and put a smile on everyone's face. Overall would recommend and would visit again. More

Everything was wonderful except for the loud music playing at night which kept us and kids awake. This was disappointing as we had hoped for a relaxing week. Aside from this it was a fun trip. Pools, food and staff were great. More
Staying here currently. We are normally happy tourists and easy to please. Some good reviews here on TripAdvisor, so there has to be good service, we just can't seem to find it. My wife is so disappointed, it may damage her ability to give the place a chance, during the rest of our stay. Half tempted to change flight schedule and go home. But I am a persistent person, who sees a fair number of good reviews. So am going to start tomorrow with open mind. Will update review at end of week, if we feel differently. The positives - the kids club has been a treat for our 7 year old (yesterday while he was playing at kids area water park, staff showed up with a trash can full of half filled water balloons- parents and kids gathered to throw at each other. Loads of fun). Resort is fairly nice. Room is what we need and generally what was expected. Bell staff seemed quality. Beach bar with swings was fun. Beach playground was fun for our guy. Otherwise, disappointing. Beach is not good, as others have explained. Food is adequate but definitely not great. Staff seems tired and often not smiling at all. Today I was at poolside on kid's side for an hour and no pool drink service. I have only seen one server, and she left early on. Not serving anyone. I carry plenty of cash to tip well. I can't find anyone to give money to. 😩 Check-in took over an hour. They switched our room to "specialty area" before we arrived, but then said we could only have room if we did a timeshare meeting. When they finally told us the condition, we said, no thanks. We just wanted to get in our room, and get to beach or pool. She (Teresa) was upset/disappointed. Then she rudely sent us to the bell man to go to our reduced quality room, since we didn't want to do a timeshare. When we got there, the room was someone else's (their name was on envelope stuck in door) and also not the type of room we reserved. The bellman was wonderful about it, directing and helping us back to check-in. We didn't express anger or frustration, but still he patted my back and said sorry a couple of times. We went back to try again. By now I was upset, but don't like to express it. I just said, get us to the room type that I reserved. Not better, not different and don't tell me why I would like something else. Again we went to the bell stand. Different bellman, but still quality. He was great. Our room was correct. I tipped him very well. It wasn't his fault. 3 hours after our plane landed, we were in our room. Part of the time was our reserved non-stop transportation referred by the hotel, did not leave the airport for 45 minutes after we got to them. I never found out what they were waiting on, but they told me that they were waiting for the people, that they had planned to ride with us. Passport problems, they said. Today we tried room service. They said under 45 minute delivery time, so we booked food. It took over almost 2 hours. Our 7 year old missed an hour of his reserved kid's club time. They forgot part of our food order. Dinner last night at the Italian restaurant was ok. Food was fine, not great. Server was fine, not great. Hostess, was not pleasant at all. I don't think she was happy being at work. Never smiled with anyone. We waited awhile to get to a table, even though plenty of tables were open. It was weird. After we were seated, they started using signaling devices, so people knew what time to be seated, but there were still plenty of open tables. Dress code for meals is strange too. Very upscale, which plenty of people ignore. I don't get why you have upscale dress code for a beach resort. No swimwear makes sense, as a dress code. Some request for shirts and shoes, I get. But long pants??? Who goes to a Mexican beach resort and packs pants? When I go to Hawaii, I never wear socks, let alone pants. Dress code asks ladies to preferably wear dresses. What? If this place was really that nice, it might make sense, but it is average. Just average, with with poor service, so far anyway. We have been to Cancun 3 times in 10 months (Westin and Belmond), so know what to expect. Hawaii a few weeks ago (Westin and St. Regis were very nice). Cabo in May (in which the Dreams had happy service people, so good a great review from me) Hopefully next few days surprises us. This evening we had a great time. Frustrated and just in a bad mood, we went to dinner. Zocalo, the Mexican restaurant that hasn't gotten good reviews. Dinner was fine, but the waiter---- made our evening. Nathaniel just brought fun to dinner. Pictures with Mexican sombreros, ice cream, etc. He was fun. We needed the mood change. We had pork tacos, a chicken dish and a fish burrito. The chicken was very good, and the rest was average. But add good atmosphere and all is good for us 3. I tipped really well and he suggested we come back tomorrow. We might. Afterwards, we spent time in lobby listening to live guitar music and having drinks from Mojito bar. The bar was busy, with most people carrying drinks out to the lobby. It also was busy from patrons sitting, talking and having drinks. A lady sat at the front of the bar, selling cigars of various types. She was very friendly but I don't smoke. But was tempted by the feel of the place. Staff makes a resort and this place seems to have some good ones but not enough. Overall, this place would not get us to return. More

specific review whilst still enjoying holiday 🌞🌞 Full review to follow
Love this place! I must say that from the minute we arrived the service and attention has been second to none. A special big shout out to the fitness duo Jorg and Luis who put us through our paces in the morning with yoga at 8am on the beach ( I haven't attended - my husband has) followed by Boot Camp at 10 same place. Don't get me wrong it is hard, they work you hard and it is my ambition to complete a FULL session before this holiday is over...I blame the temperature for my inability to complete.😆 All areas are covered - cardio / upper body / lower body / strength training on a rotation basis so it's great to know you won't be subject to the same torture 2 days running. I recommend this activity to everyone, it really sets you up for the rest of the day. Guilt free eating, drinking and lounging 👍👍More
