The Barceló Maya Colonial and the Barceló Maya Tropical hotels are set on a pristine beach, in the middle of a tropical national park.

The neighbouring Barceló Maya Colonial and Barceló Maya Tropical are 2 of 5 hotels that make up the Barceló Maya Beach Resort. This palm-cloaked complex is perfect if you want to escape the rest of the world – it’s bordered by a tropical national park, and fronted by a 2-kilometre-long slither of white sand.

You can flit between the facilities of each hotel. Both have a swimming pool just a few steps from the beach, which are edged by tropical plants and shrubs. You’ve also got access to a tranquil spa, which boasts 25 treatment cabins, a floatation tank and a Mayan steam bath. Here, you can book in for the likes of deep tissue massages and honey-infused body scrubs.

Six restaurants open for business at mealtimes, including 2 international buffet eateries and 4 speciality restaurants. There’s the Santa Fe steakhouse that’s well-known for its fantastic fillets, the Capri Italian, the Marenostrum seafood place and, finally, Kyoto, which offers well-presented Japanese cuisine.
