"Best Anniversary vacation
We Have rEcently returned from a wonderful vacation at Azul Five, we chose this resort as the reviews on TripAdvisor was very very good. I contacted the hotel prior to leaving to explain that it was our anniversary and that we would really like to have a room that was in a quiet place and not too near the children's Play area, not that we have any problem with children we have our own young grandchildren, but this was our anniversary vacation. We what delighted on our arrival to find that we had been given a sky suite in the new Essence section overlooking one of the pools. these rooms are beautiful very new and very comfortable bed a kitchen a dining area and a sitting room with a nice balcony overlooking the pool and the rooftop terrace with asitting area and hot tub and great views. We also had reserved the anniversary package, which included a decorated suite with rose petals following a Romantic dinner at the beach and also a tropical floral arrangement and breakfast in bed the morning after our dinner, there were a couple of Spa specials which we did note take advantage of. It also included our Wifi. Unfortunately our romantic dinner at the beach had to be moved inside as the weather did not cooperate, the restaurant made a big effort to make it a romantic dinner the meal was excellent but having a window cleaner climbing up the window behind this wall while we were eating was a little bit strange. Our room was decorated three times with fresh rose petals, towel swans, and hearts, they did a beautiful job. Our breakfast in bed did not show up the next morning, we had had room service a couple of mornings before which was wonderful and served within 20 minutes of ordering. So that morning we went to the wonderful bistro for breakfast. We met Cristian at the Brassiere Bistro who was looking after Food Services, so immediatialy followed up to see what he could do to rectify our gourmet breakfast. We chose a dinner at the Italian Restaurant, and they made sure we had had a lovely dinner & evening with Omar for our waiter, so thank you Cristian for taking care of us. Apart from a few I am not going to mention every staff member that we 3met as quite frankly I do not remember their names, they work hard and long hours, they all are polite and friendly. Only one staff member bordered on being rude at the front desk, I inquired about the welcome back club as we have also stayed at El Dorado Royale. I was asking about the tee shirts, her reply was that we could not combine the Anniversary Package with the welcome back.........and surely we would prefer a romantic dinner for two over free tee shirts! Bearing in mind the dinner was served from a restaurant that did not require reservations and we could eat there any time. The best bar is the 1910, great staff Rene and Wilder are great, the service is top notch, however busy they. They give the place a fun atmosphere. Too bad it closes at 11pm just as everyone is ready to party for a little longer. Our favourite lunch place is the poolside Grill in the Essence section, great team of staff with great food, fish tacos are the best, with the tuna crostana a close 2nd. So sorry I have forgotten the name of the hostess, she is charming, Mr & Mrs Best say thank for the great service. We met some very nice people, from across Canada and the USA, particularly enjoyed our new friends from Toronto who we hope to see again soon. We will not return to Azul Fives, we are beach people and found the it a long walk, the resort should run a shuttle to the beach and restaurants. This resort appeals to couples with babies and very young children. Consequently they do not cater to the couples who want to dine later and have the entainment after dinner. We missed most of the entertainment as it seemed to begin at 7:30, as we were going to dinner. The Sky bar, great location but was a huge disappointment, empty everytime we checked it out We had a great 10 days vacation, a welcome break from our Canadian winter. Fabulous Food, Super Service, Absolutley wonderful suites, comfortable beds, even Cheeky Monkys, top shelf drinks. Many thanks to Maryse for our beautiful suite and making our Anniversary so very special. Maybe we will try another of your top rated Karisma resorts More

Azul Five was one of the nicest, friendliest resorts. Excellent food, great restaurants (particularly for a person with celiac). Everyone was aware and always asked at the restaurants about allergies. Extremely clean and well maintained grounds. Beautiful flowers and shrubs everywhere. The only challenge was our room's shower that leaked, and it seemed that it was a problem throughout our building but staff was extremely accommodating. Pools were cold but nice. Rooms were large and super comfy beds. We were there for a wedding and the wedding was beautiful. Great location. Beach area was narrow but nice and you could walk for miles in both directions. I would return. More
This is our second time here. Since a year ago they have added a whole new section of restaurants, bars, retail, new gym, accommodations and pools. All very nicely done and the new common is a great meeting place. The gin bar rocks! Nightly shows in the common area. Kids club is well staffed and a they love going there. The Gourmet Inclusive food is the best. This place is hard to beat in terms of quality, luxury and service. Beach is nice but the pools are so attractive that we spent most of our there. Stayed in a penthouse this time, with the roof top area. My preference would be to be back down in the condo at pool level. If you do stay here it's worth every cent to do the all-inclusive. The new poolside bar and grill has amazing food. Wear your stretchy pants! Will be going again next year. Only thing that could make this stay better is more days.More
We just returned from a week vacation at Azul Fives. We had a wonderful time. The resort is beautiful, clean and the staff is very friendly. We stayed in building 10 in a 2 bedroom sky suite. The rooms are large and nicely decorated, they are starting to show their age though. Just a little maintenance needed, no major issues. The only negative thing I would say about the rooms are the pillows. They are extremely lumpy and just really bad! That's an easy fix though. We loved having the rooftop patio! The food was very good. As some others have said, it's an all-inclusive so you need to keep that in mind. We consider ourselves foodies. We search out the best restaurants where ever we are, so nothing blew us away. That being said, we enjoyed every meal we had. The kids club was great! All the counselors were friendly, you can tell that they actually like children and enjoy their job. Ithalia especially! Our girls really liked her and had a good time playing with her. Our kids are still at the age where they like spending time with mom & dad, so we didn't take advantage of dropping them at the kids club. We would have felt very comfortable doing that though. We were told that they were at 100% occupancy, but it did not feel crowded. It was easy to find a chair by the pools or on the beach. We never waited for a table at any of the restaurants. Overall, it was a great resort and we would love to go again!More

Very nice resort in beautiful Playa Del Carmen. Our stay was short - arrived Thursday and left early Sunday morning but we left wishing for more time. The villas were spacious and spotlessly clean. Service was good everywhere - Polo took great care of us at the pool and on the beach! The spa was wonderful. Food is good but not outstanding. More
