Inspired by the Italian Renaissance, this hotel radiates romance. Take the lobby. With its winding staircase, marble pillars and ornate fountain, it's more like an Italian palazzo. And the same goes for the bedrooms which have dark wood furnishings, four-poster beds and rich fabrics. It's not just the decor and ambience that give it a Mediterranean flavour, though. The resort has gone one step further and signed up chefs and musicians from Italy, too. The Italian theme doesn't detract from the resort's Jamaican spirit though. For one, it's set on one of the best beaches in Ocho Rios – a beautiful white strip framed by palm trees. And the tropical grounds don't let you forget where you are, either. Taking pride of place here are two swimming pools. One of them is Jamaica's largest and even has a mini version of the famous Dunn's River Falls, which is only minutes away - hence the hotel's name. As for dining, there's a choice of 5 restaurants including four a la carte like the romantic II Capitano, which serves regional Italian dishes, and chic Kimonos, specialising in Oriental cuisine. Facilities are in no short supply either. There's a contemporary Red Lane (R) Spa with a steam room, sauna and a menu of beauty treatments. On the sports front, you've got everything from tennis courts and a fitness centre to sailing and windsurfing. Golf is the real talking point though. Not only is there a 9-hole pitch and putt course onsite, you also get free green fees and transport to the elite 18-hole Sandals Golf and Country Club – complete with mandatory caddies.
