A rose by any other name just isn't the Rose Hall. Chic, classy and full of charm, this deluxe beachfront hotel was once a well-known 18th-century sugar plantation, and still evokes the island's historic allure. Sitting right on the shores of the Caribbean Sea – it's cocooned among four hundred acres of tropical grounds. But it's not just the setting that'll whip your breath away – its newly furbished look has most definitely got the wow factor. Cool and contemporary, the chic new decor is really something to write home about. We're talking bedrooms with coffee and cream palettes, white-tiled flooring and flat-screen televisions. Bathrooms with granite counters, limestone tiles and spa features. And a stylish lobby with dark hardwood furnishings, sophisticated sofas and attractive art pieces.
Style aside, the Rose Hall is impressive in every other way, too. Starting with Lilliput Beach, which isn't as small as it sounds - this stretch of porcelain-white sands is right on your doorstep. And what's more – it's owned by the hotel, so you're guaranteed your own private piece of paradise. It's hard to resist the watersports on offer here too, from snorkelling and windsurfing to kayaking and sailing. When you fancy some sand-free fun, pad back up to base and head for Sugar Mill Falls, the Caribbean's largest waterpark, which resides here. Flit your way between the three terraced lagoon pools, float past waterfalls, or shoot down the waterslides. And when you need to refuel, there are two swim-up pool bars where you can grab a frost-cold drink.
Of course, you might want to take advantage of the first-class facilities while you're here. How about hitting the links of the Rose Hall's 18-hole championship Cinnamon Hill Ocean Golf Course? Designed by Robert Von Hagge, it's one of Jamaica's top courses. Maybe a workout at the Fitness and Aerobic Centre is more up your street? In which case there's a state-of-the-art gym and loads of classes to choose from here. Or perhaps you'll join in the daily activity programme which could include anything from nature walks to volleyball? Decisions, decisions. Eating here is a delight too and there's a world of flavours to choose from when it comes to both dishes and eateries. From sumptuous dining areas decorated in rich colours to romantic, open-air courtyards to opulent restaurants reminiscent of a Georgian manor house, it's all down to a matter of taste. And now there's the new village square-style La Brasserie to try, with cuisine from around the globe. The ultimate Caribbean getaway – come try this tropical treasure for size.
