Tucked on the coast, the Oasis Canoa couldn't have a more idyllic location if it tried. Think gently swaying coconut palms. Translucent turquoise seas. And brilliant white sands. If all that sounds a bit too much like hard work, make a beeline for the pool. Cocooned by palm trees and surrounded by thatched roofed bars, the lagoon-like pool is a tropical oasis of calm – perfect for some lazy days in the sun. Simply pull up a lounger, unfurl a towel and settle back for some quality chill out time. So facilities and location-wise, this hotel gets a big tick.

But what about the accommodation? Built in little bungalow blocks and speckled with garden villas, it looks a bit like an Indian village. And inside, the rooms boast king-size beds or two doubles and are kitted out with all mod cons like coffee-making facilities, satellite TVs and fridges.

Just back after 2 weeks in the Canoa Coral. Rooms were basic and definitely in need of upgrading however they were cleaned very well every day. Towels and bed linen changed every 3 days. The mimi bar was supposed to be replenished daily but this... more on this review
