You know you're in for something special when the name 'grand' is in a hotel name. And the attractive Oasis Marien is no exception. Service and attention to detail are big watchwords here. How's this for starters? When you arrive, you'll be greeted with a refreshing glass of juice - usually trimmed with frosted sugar around the edge. And it's the little touches like this that make the big difference. Service aside, what about the hotel itself? Well, the lobby itself is rather swanky with a thatched vaulted ceiling, a huge leaf-design chandelier and polished marble floors. Plus it's sprinkled with plump wicker chairs, chunky wood tables and little garden areas with tropical flowers and splaying palms. The grounds are just as eager to make an impression too, with tranquil water features, flower-strewn pagodas and pretty patios. And at the centre of it all is the lake-sized pool. With bridges, islands and waterfalls, it twists off in all directions – definitely not your run-of-the-mill swimming pool. What's more, there's plenty of space out on the sun terrace for you to lounge in style. It's very much a case of bestseller out, sunglasses on and chill. And with the 'Tubano' pool bar on hand, what more could you need? For a change of scene, simply pad down to the honey-coloured sands or take your pick from the top-notch facilities. There are plenty of watersports and sports to try. And you can even have lessons in Merengue dancing or Spanish. As to the food, it's really good. You can make a beeline for the elegant ambience of 'El Cayuco' buffet restaurant whichever meal time it is. And by night you can also try out one of the a la carte eateries. If you fancy going Italian head for circular-shaped 'Rigoletto' which is raised and overlooks the pool and gardens. Or for Tex-Mex fare, try 'Santa Fe Grill' with its fairy-lit entrance and beach views. A grand hideaway with a laid-back heart, the Oasis Marien is the perfect place to escape from it all.
