An introduction to Varadero

There's no doubt it's got one of the best beaches in the world, but holidays in Varadero have more to offer than soft sands and wild watersports. For starters there's some pretty dramatic scenery, with the beach set on a sweeping bay at the tip of the Punta Hicacos peninsula. Then there's the downtown area, with its typical Cuban atmosphere, well stocked shops, great restaurants and lively after dark scene.

There's one concept that's inextricably linked with the name of Varadero, all inclusive holidays. That's why, whether you're a long-term getaway planner or like to jet off on a whim for one of those last minute holidays, Varadero is a good choice. You'll have everything you need for a good time in and around your hotel. What's more, there are all kinds of styles to choose from, including family favourites like the Iberostar Tainos and the Playa De Oro, quieter 'couple' orientated establishments such as Brisas Del Caribe and the Tryp Peninsula Varadero, and luxury properties like Paradisus Varadero and the famous Sandals Royal Hicacos.

This is the Caribbean, so we're not exactly talking bargain holidays. Varadero, however, is pretty good value for money compared to some of the more exclusive islands. And the Cuba experience is worth every penny. After all, where else in the world could you enjoy such great beach life, then later light up an after-dinner cigar at Al Capone's former holiday home (the wonderfully named 'Casa de Al')?

My-self and partner went to varadero, 19-april/03-may 2006. Recommend all excursions offered.
We stoped at the Tainos hotel all-inclusive. The beach 10/10 food 10/10. Rooms cleaned every day, clean towels every day. Plenty to do every day. Staff... more on this review
