March Break Getaway
Loved my stay at Southern Palms. Excellent location. Beach amazing. Front desk staff and security friendly. Room was clean, but a little dated. I arrived prior to check-in and my room wasn't ready. I sat by the pool and within 30 minutes the desk clerk found me to inform me my room was ready. My only complaint would be the lack of information about the hotel (wifi password, restaurant hours ....) communicated at check-in. I would definitely return.More
Wonderful, but may be in need of a refresh?
Stayed here as part of an England Cricket Tour. Wonderful position on the long beach!! Spacious ground floor room with sliding door to patio, seven paces to the beautifully maintained pool and 20 paces to the beach.... Two double beds, great shower, in room safe they wanted US $3 a day for, which is a mistake on their part. Making the safe free avoids endless hassle with things going missing, ridiculous to charge an irritating fee! What i mean by in need of a refresh is probably the management. For example, the hotel next door Infinity On the Beach Hotel seemed to have all its sun beds and sun shades set up first thing in the morning, whereas at Southern Palms the beds were all stacked up and guests helped themselves and sun shades seemed like hens teeth. Also the bar seemed to close very early. I had a snack at the Infinity and the whole place seemed more modern, lively and well run. Just feels like it needs a good shake up.More
On arrival at the Southern Palms we were told we had been upgraded to a sea view room, which was totally unexpected!!The view from our balcony was breathtaking!!!The room was immaculately clean with a huge six foot wide bed, which ws very comfortable. The bathroom was adequate but could do with an update. We opted for half board and was very glad we did.Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.Evening meal was good although rather limited in choice, and rather repetitive. The staff are all lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The pools and grounds are very well maintained and constantly being tended. The beach is beautiful and I would say the best we saw.Location is good with bars, restaurants and a convenience store on your doorstep. Most of the guests were in the older age bracket,we are in our 50`s and were some of the younger ones!!!There is evening entertainment 3 times a week and a steel orchestra on Sunday lunch times. We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay and had no complaints.Eating out can be pricey,so half board was a good move!!!More
Best beach on the island.
Friendly, professional staff, good food, and most convenient location. No car required for most things. Loved the smaller, more secluded pool too. Fell asleep listening to the surf rushing up the beach outside my window. This hotel stays consistently at the top of the list. More
We were upgraded to an executive suite, which had its advantages, but meant an awful lot of stairs every day. Everything is very laid back and Bejan pace, and the hotel sits directly on the beach.. Dinner was a mixture of a la cartè and buffet throughout the week, and I feel there is room for improvement here.. Breakfast was fabulous, with an egg chef on duty throughout. Entertainment was very enjoyable and varied. It's not the place to stay if you're on a less than generous budget, but it certainly lived up to its recommendation....More
