My family of 12 came down from Toronto to celebrate my sisters 15th wedding anniversary. We havent been back in 15 years. The hotel is a bit dated but overall it was just right for our famjam vacation and relaxation. Prices were a bit high in the restaurants but we expected that. The beach is absolutely beautiful but the tide was too rough. More
Fortunate Upgrade But Still Nice Hotel
Superb 2 story penthouse room (was given 331, but 333 & 335 should also be) overlooking the pool and beach. A tad worn, but so spacious it makes up for it. Friendly enough staff and good facilities. Fantastic beach and really good pool too. Only two minors really: I had room service once and the burger was average at best, damp fries and average slaw. And although check in is from 3, I couldn't get a room till 4.30 as they were so busy. In fairness I got complimentary drinks and I think that's why I got the fortunate upgrade. The restaurants always seemed busy so I assume the food is usually good. But the Tikki Bar is 5 minutes down the beach anyway, and that is a great place to dine, wine and lime. Would definitely stay again. More
Back to the Accra after a couple of years
We have stayed at the Accra several times. We love the location with transportation outside the door and the many restaurants and shops nearby. Love the beach. We love waves and this beach is ideal. The staff have always been pleasant with us. Debbie in the restaurant always takes time to chat in the common areas of the hotel. Damien is friendly, resourceful and helpful. The reception staff are efficient and helpful as were other staff. We would have liked to see the sea weed raked. There was very little seaweed and it could have been raked very easily. Other guests mentioned this to me as well. We were at another resort in the Caribbean and the beach was raked very early in the morning and they had far more seaweed to deal with. I agree with some other reviewers in that the rooms are looking tired. The common areas look fantastic and if the rooms were made to look more modern and bright this resort would be perfect.More
I found the staff at Accra to be downright rude! Whilst I can't compare Accra to other hotels in Barbados, and therefore caregorize their contempt towards their customers as being cultural, in the week that I spent on this island I found a gracious and welcoming people at all other service providers. I repeatedly had to go to Reception to renew faulty room keycards. I was told to not sit on some items of furniture that appeared to be public seating (planter box with overhanging edge of the sort you would often see in Malls for seating). I was told not to stand in a particular area of the foyer (which I was doing whilst waiting for my group to arrive). On one morning, after a quick swim and a dry off, I and my 12 yo daughter saw other members of our party in the breakfast room and decided to call in to say hello. We were shouted down from across the room by a staff member telling us , very publicly, to get out and dress more appropriately. Accra is a beach side resort with a swimming pool beside the breakfast room!!!! We were clothed! On my next visit to reset the room keycard I complained about the treatment and asked whether I could speak to someone about or would it be better to vent my displeasure publicly ( I intended that as a veiled threat). I was told that everyone is busy and was advised to submit my thoughts on TripAdvisor. So, here I am...at their suggestion. I'm sick of typing now but could give you many more examples of the staff's indifference to us. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Don't let me dissuade you from visiting Barbados but stay well clear of Accra Beach.More
One of the Best Hotels in Barbados
The Accra Beach Hotel is perfectly situated by one of the most beautiful beaches on the island and easily accesible to nearby stores and local transportation. It is a gorgeous and well maintained property that has a fun yet relaxed island vibe. You may have to wait a while to check in or wait for your room to be ready but they will hold your luggage if you want to peruse around the hotel or area and they offer complimentary drinks for you upon arrival. I think I got the best deal here. The next time I come to Barbados for Carnival I will not hesitate to stay here.More
