Wonderful relaxing stay but hotel could do better on its beach and transfers to village
Pluses: + nestled at the foot of the hill, by the sea, in well-maintained grounds + spacious rooms to high specification, large balcony, good standard of housekeeping, lots of bottled water provided, scented candle left after turndown service (after requested) + very good breakfast and food. If you would like a break from eating Thai cuisine all holiday, try the burger and beer offer at the Lounge + swimming pool with view across beach + generally helpful and friendly staff, especially Jurairat Boonlarp (Front office manager), Goy at the Big Fish restaurant, and Boom at Andaman restaurant + high standard spa + kayak and paddleboarding available for short periods during daytime high tide + buggy (golf buggy) provided to take you around the hotel premises + security staff helpful and professional in investigating lost/stolen pair of sunglasses Minuses: - The beach is the weakest aspect of the hotel facilities: The beach is often left untidied and the sunloungers and tables on the beach are never swept or wiped. The staff on hand in the cabin by the beach have plenty of spare time to clean sand off sunloungers and wipe the tables a few times per day, but they donât seem to bother. - The location of the hotel is both an advantage (as a remote get-away) and a disadvantage. When you want to go to the nearby Nai-Yang village to the beach, bars and restaurants, it is a short 15 minute walk along the beach when the tide is low. However, you still need to cross a stream of yellow (dirty?) water which makes wearing shoes or trousers impossible. When the tide is high or at night, you need to take a taxi. The hotel only provides a shuttle service from the hotel at 9.30am and 1.30pm and from the village at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. We never used this as these times were not useful for us. There is nothing in the evening. The hotel suggest a taxi service costing 400 bahts (£9) one way. The taxis which you can get using the Grab App usually cost around 200-250 bahts (£5) in the evenings. Considering the taxis in Bangkok cost around £6 for 25km from the airport to city centre, these prices are much higher for a 5km journey. It is a real shame the hotel cannot provide a much more frequent shuttle service. It would also be extremely helpful to connect the hotel to the neighbouring park along the way to the Nai-Yang village by building a small bridge crossing the stream, but obviously itâs not in anyoneâs commercial interest to do that! - The staff at the breakfast donât have the training to replace used cutlery. For example, one waitress removed my knife and fork used to eat fried egg and put them back on the table, but this happened again and again; they just donât know that they need to remove dirty cutlery together with used plates.More
Hotel and beach was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Had some trouble with room when we first arrived at 5am. We wanted a room near the beach or pool but got a room on 3rd floor. The check in processes it self was unorganized and confusing. The confusion at the hotel is the language barrier. So be patient!! This hotel is not for the handicap!! I dont do a lot of steps, this property has a lot of steps and a lot of dim spots with small steps WATCH YOUR STEP!! I did take a fall and the staff was helpful. Over all it was 3 star vacation.More
If first time in Phuket you may like it, otherwise you are better of with other options
wanted to give it a try as we learnt the hotel has been refurbished and became a Marriott. However quite disappointing. Dirty beach, swimming not to mention. Food so so, ..., in a nutshell: there are much better places in PhuketMore
Relaxing short holiday with kids
Very pleasant stay. Modern, clean and tasteful hotel, not too big but well equipped. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially May at the front desk (very helpful for planning trips around the island!) and Collin (great bicycle excursion!) Only disappointment was the beach, which is tidy and not crowded, but far too "flat" for any swimming. Also, a little stream runs into the sea right next to the hotel and as a consequence the water in front of the hotel can be brownish and a bit uninviting. The hotel provides for standup paddling and kayaking at the beach and that is nice, maybe additional activities (a shuttle to another beach?) should be offered.More
Another great stay with Marriott
Overall was a great stay and experience. Lovely staff and service. Make sure you go for their buffet and breakfast service. The big fish resturant needs serious attention and I have sent a feedback to the manager about this. I hope they take this seriously, as this is Marriott I think it will only get better. Thanks for making our visit a memorable stay...More
