This hotel has a VIP feel – it’s only accessible by boat, and its other-worldly surroundings look like a set from Leonardo Di Caprio’s The Beach.
The Centara Grand Beach Resort And Villas Krabi sidles up to a secluded beach, where the bone-white sands are lapped by bright-turquoise waters. The limestone karsts dotted offshore add to the postcard-worthy vistas.
Rooms combine traditional Thai style with modern features. You can choose between ocean-view rooms, couples’ suites and private villas. Some of the rooms have their own plunge pool, too.

Beautiful Place, Odd Atmosphere
This is a difficult one. On the one hand, you have the most beautiful location, and absolutely lovely hotel, and on the other, for us, there was something missing about this place. I think perhaps that because we had come to expect a certain level of service from other places in Thailand, we were a little surprised to feel a little less welcomed at Centara. The location really is dramatically beautiful. We spent hour after hour marvelling at the stunning scenery. Our room was absolutely gorgeous and immaculately clean - we stayed in a Deluxe Ocean Facing with jacuzzi, and it didn't disappoint. The bed faced the balcony with the ocean view beyond, and was really quite special. The resort itself is lovely and of course the monkeys are a real highlight! They amused and amazed us every time they paid us a visit. I would say that if you're not comfortable being that close to nature, then this certainly isn't the place for you - they really do get up close & personal - and often drank from our hot tub! But we loved that, and enjoyed being a part of what has become their natural habitat. Sadly though, this is where the positives end. The service at this resort really lets it down. Not everyone though - some staff were lovely - particularly the housekeepers and some of the reception staff - but generally speaking, we felt uncomfortable around the staff. They just seem unhappy and not at all focussed on making guests feel welcomed. At times they were quite rude, and there were several occasions where we felt they were almost mocking us when our backs were turned (and I'm not a paranoid person!). As a result we spent most of our stay holed up on the balcony of our room which was not necessarily a bad thing with the wine on room service, jacuzzi, facilities & view! But it certainly did deter us from using the facilities in the resort wherever possible. Such a shame. I don't want to give it less than 4/5 because it really is fabulous in every other way (do try the Thai restaurant - best food on resort - ignore bad service), but for us, the service is an important part of the experience and I'm afraid it didn't live up to expectations, so we won't be returning.More
Very nice resort
I spent 2 nights in the resort in Krabi. It's really out of my expectations. The resort is located in the marine park which is very worth to go there. Room is big and nice. Also free boat service is provided till late night. Staff were professional and kind. I will go there again for sure.More
Just come back from Centara Grand, if your looking for a chilled out relaxing place then this is it, food was lovely but expensive, gorgeous settings and surrounding. Very hot in march, and a lot of the tourist beaches etc were rammed, which was very disappointing. The Hotel is situated away from it all, but be warned there are only 2 ways on and off, either by boat, which you have to book in advance or the monkey trail, which is only for the young and fit !!!! The monkey's are lovely but they can get into your rooms to eat your fridge contents !!!!!!!!!! The staff were all lovely, the breakfast was plenty and a good selection, the piano player was lovely to listen too. Overall a gorgeous hotel.More
Not what we expected
This is our third trip to Thailand as we have always loved the culture but it seems that the lovely charm has disappeared. The hotel was not what I expected for five star rating. Our sink leaked. We told them about it and all they did was put a towel under the sink to get soggy every day. The sink got blocked. Twice we had to ask them to unblock it. We went one evening to the Japanese restaurant and the air conditioning broke. I think the chef through a fit and we had to wait an hour for the starter which was dreadful when it turned up. To be fair the hotel didn't charge for the food or drink that evening. For me the saddest thing is that the staff seem to have lost that genuine friendliness apart from a handful such as the lovely Peaw. Most were functional and indifferent. However the weather was fabulous so if you just want unbroken sunshine and not too bothered about the details stay here. However i won't be back and won't recommend it at allMore

Centara @ Ao Nang, Krabi
We were a little unsure about the hotel and its location for the 1st couple of days; but slowly we started to really like and enjoy it! What were fun were the beach and the hotel's secluded location, with 2 pools - 1 being a tranquil one with no children. Of course the Thai food was superb - particularly in Ao Nang, which was a 15 minute speedboat ride or 700 step Monkey Trail walk away - phew! Also, the Japanese meals we had in the hotel were excellent. You did need to watch out for the wild feral monkeys, so don't feed them. The management team were very welcoming, so thanks to Andrew, Ines & Maareke (apologies if my name spelling is incorrect). The PADI dive centre was great and run by the always enthusuastic Swede - Leif. We had 2 long but great days diving and an excellent 1 say trip into the jungle area nearby. Oh and by the way, you must try and succeed in climbing the 1260 step Tiger Temple Trail - also phew in 36 Degree Heat! So, all in all a great place to go on holiday too and we are considering returning next year - which is unusual with us.More
