This hotel has a VIP feel – it’s only accessible by boat, and its other-worldly surroundings look like a set from Leonardo Di Caprio’s The Beach.
The Centara Grand Beach Resort And Villas Krabi sidles up to a secluded beach, where the bone-white sands are lapped by bright-turquoise waters. The limestone karsts dotted offshore add to the postcard-worthy vistas.
Rooms combine traditional Thai style with modern features. You can choose between ocean-view rooms, couples’ suites and private villas. Some of the rooms have their own plunge pool, too.

2nd visit and not disappointed!
This was our second visit to this lovely hotel in beautiful au nang! Last visit was 5 years ago for our honeymoon. We had a club room with jacuzzi. Club rooms give fantastic value open 7am-10pm for breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea, cocktails and early evening drinks and snacks and coffee and chocolates. Ran by Pooh and her great team who are a credit to the hotel. The rooms were starting to show signs of wear since our last visit but it seemed a renovation/update programme was just starting. Entertained daily by the monkeys which completed for us a perfect holiday. Thank you to all the team 😄More
A very 'Decent Proposal' !
We have just left this unforgettable hotel after the best 5 nights of our 19 day tour of Thailand. After a long 3 hour transfer from Karong, we ended up at the ferry terminal in the National Park. The natural white sandy beaches are some to behold! We had our luggage transferred on to the speedboat and we took off for the Centara. It takes 10-15 minutes to get to the pier at the beach. Be warned....the hotel pier is made of empty plastic drums and uneasy on the foot so no high heels ladies! The scenery is breathtaking. A smooth check in as usual in Thailand and we were shown to our room. We had read the reviews about the monkeys but here is my opinion... Yes there are monkeys in abundance. They travel around in packs and keep themselves to themselves. They don't go round actively looking to steal your underwear or your passports like others have suggested! They will leave you alone. Just don't leave any food or belongings on your balcony, because that will attract them. The Centara is in a national park and the monkeys have been residents far longer than the resort - this is their home so respect them. Watching them on the days I saw them was fascinating. They are a joy to watch. The food? Well....you are spoilt for choice on food. There are several restaurants including the main restaurant (Lotus), a Thai restaurant, Japanese restaurant and the beach restaurant (On the Rocks). Please note that the Japanese is only open for dinner, where as the others open for lunch and dinner. You can book at any restaurant and there is no limit as to how many times you can eat in one. Prices are substantially higher than those in the local town. But the quality is excellent. The resort has its own beach which is simply beautiful and visited by non-guests with free kayaks and sailing offered to guests. The restaurant also offers intimate private dining. Now this is where the proposal came in. I had planned to ask my girlfriend to marry me at a private dinner on the beach. It costs 4,800 bhaat and you must book at least a day ahead as they only do one couple per night. We had our own waiter and served an unforgettable 4 course meal and a free glass of wine. Luckily she said yes but when you see my photo attached, she couldn't say no could she?!?! The resort has a decent gym with machines, weights and offers Muay Thai and Thai boxing lessons for guests (500 bh). The Deep Blue bar was a great place to have cocktails and play pool. They had decent music being played and we enjoyed happy hour every night (8-10pm). Cocktails were all approx 250 bh. So I will sign off by saying a big thank you to the wonderful and friendly staff at the resort. It now has a very special place in our hearts and we WILL return soon!More

Smells of urine - discusting - No electric
This hotel is definatly not worth the money.. We checked in after 30 mins of waiting round, we were took to our rooms, we opened the door to our room and then it hit us.... strong smell of urine and after inspection there was stained bathroom floor with hairs all over the WC and in the shower !! it was disgusting. We complained and they sent up maids after 4 hours to clean however it still was really grubby not what we expected from a "luxury resort" Anyways we only had 2 more days of this before we were meant to leave.. so we sunbathe on the beach. was fine as they were so many drunken people (wedding party) and children jumping in the pool and running around so if your wanting to relax this is NOT for you! we went back to the room to get dressed for dinner and discovered the doors didnt work (electric shutters).. No electric was available at all.. including wifi/ phone and lights... We told reception on our way out for dinner and she told us she would get someone to look at it before we got back.. After 5 hours in ao nang we arrived back to NO ELECTRIC again!! my husband went down to reception to tell them again and she said someone would be around in the morning to fix the issue.. No one came!! We ended up checking out this hotel a day early as it was just a really unpleasant place to stay I cannot comment on the food as we did not eat in the hotel apart from breakfast which was included and still had to wait round for eggs as the que for them was really long.More
Amazing stay in paradise, but next time not in low season
This is the second time we have been to this resort, something we’ve never done before, but after our visit 2 years ago, we just had to come back! Just before we were due to travel we received an email explaining that the main pool would be receiving maintenance and not fully open while we were there. This news I was really not happy with as we used the pool quite a lot last time we were there. The initial response from the resort was I could change the dates of our stay to after the work was finished! This would have been impossible as it was only a few days before we were due to travel and everything, flights, car hire etc., was booked and paid for months previously. They did come back and offer us a room upgrade at a high position with a very good view, which we accepted. On arrival we were greeted at the floating pier and escorted to The Club lounge to be checked in. On entering The Club lounge we were greeted by Cha, who instantly recognised us from our previous visit 2 years ago, wow, that did make us feel very special and glad to say she had not changed one bit, just as friendly and helpful as ever, always had a smile on her face. We were escorted to our room, what a disappointment! The room was on the second floor, had trees and other buildings between us and the sea, so although listed as Ocean Facing, you could only see the ocean at one tiny point on the balcony. The same as the room next door for our Sister in Law and her husband. This was not what we had been promised. We contacted Pooh in The Club who said she would look at moving our rooms. After about 1 hour nothing had happened so we walked back to The Club for a chat. Unfortunately nothing acceptable was available for us to move to that day, but a few options were available for the next day. We had a walk to see the rooms on offer and agreed that while on a tour the next day, all our belongings would be moved. True to her word everything was moved while we were away the following afternoon. What a difference, uninterrupted view of the sea on the top floor, a similar position but on the opposite side of the resort we had last time we came. Unfortunately, I do have an issue with the resorts boat transfer service, not the staff operating the boat as they did try their very best. They had a lot of guests, arriving and departing, in very large family groups, in some cases the groups were so large that they had booked enough people to fill 2 or 3 boats, leaving no room for other guests to use the boat or have very a long wait. We had been on a boat tour all day and the sea was too rough for our longtail boat to drop us at the resort, so for safety’s sake we were dropped back at the pier only to find there was no room on the hotel boat for some time. We could not book the boat in advance as we did not know this was going to happen. Fortunately, for us, some of the very large groups were so rude and impatient that they decided to hire their own longtail boat to go to the resort and the hotel staff managed to let us have their vacated seats on the resort’s boat. My issue is the hotel knowing in advance that their boat would be fully booked for multiple trips as guest check in or out should have organised more transportation to cover the busy time. Now for my last negative. We decided to visit this time in the low season, we now know that this is when the hotel does their maintenance, swimming pool etc. The weather can be let us say unpredictable, no one can do anything about that and after the first two days the weather was fantastic. My biggest gripe by far was there seems to be at this time of year a very large number of guests from a certain geographic location, see boat transfer section above and also most of the very negative reviews left on Trip Advisor. A large proportion of these big family groups were very rude to staff and other guests, quite aggressive, zero manners and the kids and some of the adults completely out of control. Breakfast time on a few days and had to be seen to be believed. We witnessed what only can be called total greed and I would consider theft by some. We watched one family go multiple times to the buffet and come back with piled up plates, only to transfer the food to containers at their table and then into their bags, hats, pockets etc. Later see the same people waiting for the boat take one bite from some of the food and throw the rest away and get mugged by the monkeys when carrying some of the food around in transparent carrier bags! The pool area was almost off limits at times due to these very large groups and while waiting for a boat transfer to Ao Nang and elderly gentleman from one of the groups was very aggressive and held up the boat for over ½ hour because one of his suit cases was missing, turns out he had left it under the sheets of the bed in his room, so it could not be seen by the staff. We will not be visiting you again at this time of year. All the above being said, we did not let this spoil our holiday and had an amazing time. The weather cleared on day 2 and remained good for the rest of the week. The building work around the pool was not that bad. The staff you have are all fantastic. Our room cleaner Bie did a great job and was very friendly. All the staff in The Club, Pooh, James, Sa and especially Cha went way above what was expected to make our time spent in The Club as pleasant as possible. In Lotus Court Bo and Yoyo deserve a very big thank you for looking after us and all the staff at The Rock were all very nice and friendly. I don’t think I met any of your staff, even the ones coming or going from work that did not smile and greet us. This resort is about as close to paradise as is possible and although there were some noisy groups at times the location in very quiet and laid back and yes, we would visit again, just not at this time of year.More
Meant to write weeks ago but time flies when you're back at work. We stayed May this year. It was our second stay ( in the same room) and was even better than the first time. Thank you for enabling us to stay in the room we requested and for a great 2 weeks. Everyone tried hard and succeeded in making it a relaxing and enjoyable holiday . Particular thanks to Patrick and his team that made breakfasts such an enjoyable part of the day.... And to the Spa team, specially Eiw, Ju, Toey and Pui... And to our room maids particularly Kai who made it a home from home... And Rac who tried to teach me Muay Thai. And to all the folk whose names I don't know in the Thai restaurant and the garden and the back room who contributed to our happy two weeks. ....and yourself, of course!More
