Skanes Family Resort

This hotel is right on the beach. It has a Thomson Kids’ Club, and 3 pools to pick from, too.

This huge hotel has nabbed a secluded spot, on the edge of a sandy beach. It’s geared around families – there’s a pool with colourful waterslides, and a pool just for kids. A Thomson Kids’ Club is the icing on the cake.

If you fancy exploring, it’s less than 10 minutes’ drive to Sousse’s medina and souk, and around the same distance to buzzing Monastir.

skanes family resort

Had fantastic two weeks at skanes family resort October 2014. The hotel was kept spotless, the maids cleaned the rooms every day left them spotless also with fresh flowers and scented candles, The food was fantastic with various choices to suit all. The staff were fabulous, could not have done anymore for us, from waiter service around the pool and on the beach, putting our fresh beach towels on sun loungers even brushing sand away from your feet after a dip in the sea. couldn't fault it, we will definitely return. Thank you skanes for a fabulous holiday. would like to thank Ralph, Alli, & Lokas samaras.More

Great Family Holiday

I stayed at Skanes Family Resort with my husband and three year old son for one week between 9-16 October. Flying from Gatwick to Enfidha we were given the immigration forms on the flight to be filled in prior to arrival. Admittedly it took us almost an hour to pass through immigration but at least the arrivals hall was clean, there was access to clean toilet facilities and by the time we got through we didn't have long to wait on the coach before it set off for the approx 45 minute transfer. On arrival at the hotel we were given forms to fill in, directed to dinner where we completed them and were checked in and shown to our rooms after dinner. We had room 3029 on the ground floor which was a double with bunk beds (partitioned off from the main part of the room) and a terrace with a small garden area to the front of it and a view of the pool set slightly in the distance. It was perfect for us, never too noisy but close enough to the poolside. Be aware that not all rooms have a terrace or balcony so be sure to book one specifically! The room was modern and comfy, the only drawback for me was that the toilet, which was separate from the bathroom, was tiny. We noticed that the seal was broken on the shower screen but reported it and it was fixed in the first 24 hours. Other than that the room was perfect. There is a safe in the room for valuables which you pay for but I can't remember how much. We had a lovely cleaner who we tipped daily and always had a lovely smile and a hello for us. She even gave my son some beach toys to play with and sweets at every opportunity! Although none of us had tummy upsets or the dreaded ear infections during our stay my son was unfortunately sick in our room after our first full day which I am sure was down to the heat. I only mention it as we called to reception who sent someone to clean up our room within minutes, he did a great job and definitely deserved the tip we gave him. Our cleaner changed all the bedding for us the next day and towels with no complaints. The hotel facilities are ideal, we didn't use the quiet pool as there was no shade around it so we stuck to the kids splash pool and the slide pool. It's true that it can get very slippery but there were always cleaners trying to keep the pool area as clear as possible and sweeping any excess water away. We also spent quite a lot of time on the beach which was lovely. The sea was so warm and shallow. My only gripe with the beach was the amount of cigarette butts in the sand which seemed to get worse as the week went on. It's a shame as there are pots dotted all around to put them in but clearly some people don't bother. We were never pestered by beach sellers, they seem to accept a firm no first time. Moving on to the food I have to say that Skanes Family Resort has the best all inclusive food I've come across. The sheer variety is astounding, there was a different buffet theme each night offering many different options including freshly grilled meats as well as soups, salads, cheeses, a delicious Tunisian corner every night, a pasta station, pizzas and a kids corner. How anybody could fault it or not find something they liked is beyond me! The Tunisian themed night in particular was wonderful. I have to say that the desserts were also fantastic, I don't normally eat dessert on holiday but I did here! Breakfast was very varied with cooked option, omelettes cooked to order, cereals, toast, fruit, pastries...basically everything you might want. The waiter service for drinks could admittedly be slow (or non existent) during busy periods in the main restaurant which is my only complaint. The service at all other times was pretty good whether you tipped or not. We found it particularly good in the lobby bar (great mojitos) and the beach bar. I have to mention the Thomson staff who really do work so hard. We took our little boy to the kids club a few times from 10am to midday. I was dubious about leaving him there but the girls (and guys) are fantastic. They remembered my sons name whenever they saw him around the complex and would come and say hello. All of the Thomson staff would stop to say hi and made time to chat to us while we were waiting for our transfer back to the airport. They work such long days but always seemed so positive and full of energy. Check out the spa if you can. I had a 50 minute massage for 60 dinar which was a lovely way to end the holiday. We checked out at midday but unlike resorts I've been to in the past we were still able to use our all inclusive bands for lunch, drinks etc...it was only a couple of hours to our transfer so we has lunch, chilled out in the lobby bar and even picked up some fruit and paninis for the journey home! The transfer back to Enfidha was very smooth. It's actually a pretty good airport, it was very quiet while we were there. We checked in in no time at all and bought our stamp from a kiosk there with no hassle and only a two minute queue. By the time we'd done that, had a look in a couple of the shops to spend the last of our dinar (you can't take it through to departures) we only had about half an hour to kill before boarding. Thomson did tell us about the VIP option you can buy for £30 each for the airport but to be honest I don't see why you'd need it if things go as smoothly as they did for us. This was a fantastic family holiday. I'm sure it might be rather more chaotic during the school holidays but luckily we don't have to worry about that just yet. If you have young children I would definitely recommend this place. It's not five star but it has everything you could want as a family, is clean, welcoming and great value. Finally I have to mention Thomson airways as the flight crew on both flights were friendly and did a great job. We were sat at the front on the way home and even got to have a quick chat with the pilot as we were among the last passengers to leave the air drag. My son was very impressed! Thank you Skanes Family Resort and thank you Thomson for a lovely holiday.More

Great Holiday except the Thomson rip off

Went to the Skanes resort last week and it was brilliant. Its designed for families and it didn't disappoint. Evrything in the resort was top notch and the staff are brillant. We had 2 toddlers so wanted a larger room / privacy to relax as a family and the Swim up [We upgraded before we flew out] room facing the gardens was perfect for us as it was more quiet than the other swim up rooms. The slides for kids and adults are brilliant, the animation team try their best and i cant talk highly enough of the staff except the Manager Dorothy. We had booked the complete package via Thomson website thus the flights, transfers, hotels etc were all Thomson owned. Our transfer to the airport was at 11pm and we were advised the night before we flew out that we should had to vacate the room at 12pm thus leaving us with 2 toddlers and 11 hours to fill. Even the late check out would only extend our stay in the room to 6pm and given the flight home was at 2.30am it was not an option given we had 2 babies with us. The manager told us she couldnt do anything 'special' for us and the hotel could not have a room occupied when it was not paid for. We made her aware of the situation but were told that unless we paid £61 we would have to vacate the room by 12pm She then said that we could do a late check in to 6pm for £55 or £61 for a 11pm check out. We had 2 babies with us and there was no real option than to pay it. Its just a scam. Thomson designed the full package and it should be on them to provide their customers with a room for the full duration of the holiday. We didnt decide to fly home at 2.30am they decided the flight / transfer times. Also for some unknown reason even though Monastir Airport is across the road we flew in to Enfidha which is a hour drive away [with no traffic]. Please dont let Thomson trying to rip you off spoil the location, hotel, and staff they are 5 star. Great place, great people and the food was quality through out [something for everyone] Definitely recommend the resort and also Monastir as a location. Beautiful, exotic and quiet.More

A great all inclusive family resort

We arrived at the Skanes resort on 1st October for 11 nights. We arrived at the hotel just after midnight and was pleasantly surprised that there was food laid on for the new arrivals. This was unexpected and it just got better and better for the rest of the holiday. I could go on about all of the good things at this resort as there are so many. The food choice was more than enough, all of the staff were helpful and polite, plenty of space around the pools and in the room. We could not ask for a better all inclusive resort. So much so, we arrived back home with not a single complaint about the whole holiday. This is a great all inclusive family resort!! Oh and the weather was great as well!More
