With its Moorish touches, this beachfront hotel certainly makes a good first impression. Step into the lobby and you’ll be greeted by a big round room edged with white lattice-work walls and arches. Look upwards, and a huge domed ceiling, complete with an epic chandelier, stands above you.

The bedrooms are a little less grand, but they’re comfy nonetheless. They’ve been decorated in a simple cream-and-peach colour scheme, and come with pale-wood furniture and satellite TVs. The patterned blue and terracotta tiles in the bathrooms, meanwhile, give a nod to tradition.

Mature palms tower above landscaped lawns dotted with straw parasols and over on the terrace there’s the pool. It’s a spacious rectangular affair with sunbeds scattered around it.

There’s plenty going on in the way of activities, too. There’s basketball, tennis and archery, plus, a daily programme of sports by the pool. Come evening time, attentions turn towards cabarets and discos.

Lastly there’s the dining scene. It’s a big buffet set-up with a menu of well-known favourites like pizza, pasta and salad. Themed evenings and barbecues are also on the menu, to keep things interesting.
