The Riu Palace Oceana Hammamet is set in landscaped gardens that sweep down to a section of a sandy beach. The property is less than a 10-minute taxi ride from Hammamet's old quarter, and it's a 20-minute walk along the beach to the marina.

Everything here is set up for relaxation. You'll find a huge swimming pool flanked by gardens dotted with eucalyptus trees. Plus, there's a bar on the beach for when you need a pick-me-up. The spa, meanwhile, houses romantic riad-style courtyards. And you can work your way through a treatment menu that includes things like body massage and water therapy.

The hotel has just had a makeover, so you can look forward to fresh, modern interiors. In the new-look bedrooms, for example, walls are painted in soft neutrals and offset by chocolate-brown furnishings and Arabic-style arches. Plus, extras include satellite TVs, minibars and balconies.

All rooms are spacious Junior Suites that have recently been renovated with a double bed, air-conditioning/heating - according to season, bathroom with a shower cabin and bathrobes, walk-in wardrobe, flatscreen satellite TV, phone, mini-fridge, tea and coffee facilties, balcony or terrace with a table, chairs and sunloungers.
