Rising from the shoreline a couple of kilometres from Hammamet, this hotel does ‘beachside’ with aplomb. A skip past the pool, a hop across the palm-planted lawns and you’re on the sands.

The pool has a grandstand spot as well. Surrounded by terraces dotted with sunloungers and tent-shaped parasols, it seems to almost dissolve into the sea itself. And rustling eucalyptus trees complete the picture.

Otherwise, it’s all low Moorish archways, wall lanterns and gleaming marble centred round an extravagant gold sculpture of palms.

In terms of food, there’s plenty of choice. The buffets feature everything from local flavours to international favourites, with many dishes cooked for you on-the-spot. Or reserve a table at the à la carte Granada, where the spotlight falls entirely on Tunisian cooking.

Rounding off everything, you’ve got an indoor pool and thalassotherapy-themed spa. This blue-tiled oasis has massage and body treatments and even a saltwater pool for when you want some preening and pampering.
