In May 2015, we rolled out the red carpet for the brand new Aqua Mirage Club. This big hotel matches traditional-style courtyards and good-looking gardens with a waterpark-crowned pool scene.
We rolled out the red carpet for the brand new Aqua Mirage Club, in May 2015. The waterpark is the hotel’s crowning glory, but it’s also got a great choice of family-friendly activities.
This place is on the outskirts of Marrakech, so the Red City’s souks and mosques are just a 20-minute shuttle bus ride away.

Fantastic Holiday, we would definitely return
Just arrived home from a fantastic holiday at Aqua Mirage Marrakech. So.... we arrived at 4am and after having to fill out numerous cards with our life stories on we were finally able to go to our rooms. We were welcomed by the some members of the animation team. One of which had clearly had one too many panda pops at the sports bar that evening! As for the rest of the animation team they were amazing. They took an active interest in the children and made everyone feel welcome! Mike was 100% a favourite of ours and also the star of The Michael Jackson Show. Definitely the jewel in the aqua mirage crown. Mike is hands down the best dancer I have seen. His moonwalk particularly impressive. A quick mention for anyone travelling with small children/babies. I took all premade milk in cartons with me which was 10kg of my luggage allowance. This wasn't necessary as hot water is readily available from the drinks machines and taking some in a flask to our for night feeds would be perfectly fine. We were provided with a cot with a proper mattress in. HOWEVER i know this not to be the case for many others! Our friend's cot had a folded up duvet for a mattress and it took some time for this to be rectified. Hotel staff put this down the hotel being full but this was not the case as booking.com showed the hotel had availability! Check out for us was 12pm and we were not flying until 1am. There is apparently an option to extend your check out for a fee of roughly £50. Several guests we made friends with who wanted to do this were either told it wasn't an option due to availability or did so, paid the additional money, but then were unable to access their rooms and spent a lot of time having to sort this with reception staff! We didn't have much dealings with the reception staff, however when we did they spoke very little English so it was difficult to communicate. I find this odd as the animation team, the bar staff, the spa staff and the waiting staff all spoke good English. One would assume this would be necessary for the Reception staff also. Pool area, water park and activities. We travelled with 2 children aged 4 and 3months. I was slightly concerned when on our first day a lifeguard told me my 3 month old daughter was too small to be in the pool... in the safety float... being held by me. However this was not the case for the following 9 days of our stay. There are lots of activities to do around the pool during the day or just to sit and watch while relaxing on the sunbeds. Zumba, aqua zumba, french boules, water polo, pool games, darts to name just a few. There were always sunbeds available and there were 7 of us (2Families) and we were always sat together. BEWARE THE WASPS if you plan on drinking round the pool stick to the beer as they don't seem to like it. If you have small children take a bottle/beaker with a lid to keep their juice sealed in so as not to attract wasps and keep them out their juice! This was also a problem at the water park as this was obviously where most of the children and families would spend their day there were lots of spilt drinks and fizzy pop and it was just a wasp frenzy. The water park is fantastic, clean and well manned with life guards. Meal times/feeding time at the zoo. The food was fantastic, it was hot and well prepared. Mostly cooked in front of you and everywhere looked clean. Afew tips. GET THERE EARLY. as we had small children we usually were down for breakfast at 8 and it was fairly quiet, however leave it any later and the crowds will decend! There will be anarchy! The biggest problem was certain nationalities and their inability to be able to queue. I know this is typically a very english thing to do however its just polite. Also some individuals like to pile 3/4 plates each with food.... take it too their table and leave the majority of it, which is just wasteful. We even witnessed one woman cutting a large dessert in half and taking it away in a tuppaware container! There is plenty of food, no one will go hungry but some people behaved like it was the last supper! Icecream.... this is the cause of most controversy again due to people pushing in and demanding to be served. I did witness a full scale fight in which security were called over ice cream.... yep ice cream. A woman literally got in my face and screamed because I asked her not to shout and swear as there were children including mine and her own present, who were all in tears and clearly shaken by the event. Fortunately I couldn't understand the language... me and my son got our icecream and she ended up out on her bottom :) The icecream issue could be easily resolved by moving it to its own area rather than at the end of the desserts so people not wanting icecream can get what else they want more easily. Snacks are also served at the pool bar. Paninis, pizza, chips, nuggets and other moroccan dishes. Again all hot and well prepared. Evening entertainment. As already mentioned The Michael Jackson show was amazing! People filming and taking photos, and Mike is such a great guy willing to take pictures with people and kids after the show. Comedy night could do with a bit of work... I was a little disappointed in the Children's disco. 90% of it was in French (The only song i recognised was gangnam style) so although the children could follow the actions they had no idea what the words were.... or what they were singing about so my Son was reluctant to join in and never went to the kids club as again he doesn't speak French. For me the animation team and the people I travelled with made our holiday. It was some other guests that spoilled it for me. The fighting over icecream, sheer rudeness of the adults and some of the children who clearly shared the same attitude. I was shocked to witness one parent allow their child to exit the swimming pool, proceed to urinate by the steps leaving a wee river travelling along the floor and then get back in the pool. There are toilets right by the pool..... However none of this would stop me returning. Great weather, great entertainment, great staff, great facilities.... what more can you ask for? Apart from more icecream ð More
We will be visiting again!
We recently stayed at The Aqua Mirage Hotel, Marrakesh which is a lovely hotel and reasonably priced. Issues we had during the stay - Mattress in the room was uncomfortable and we took our 5 month old with us who was given a duvet for a mattress in his travel cot. This took 3 days to sort out and he was sleeping on bed sheets within the cot until then. This was due vastly due to the language barrier from the reception team resulting in me visiting reception around 5 times within a 24hr period and finally refusing to leave (Thompson staff were not at the hotel when this happened) Information re taking newborns... You do not have a kettle in your room (even if you request one prior to attending or speak to reception this is not an option) however there are numerous coffee machines which distribute hot water (available between 07:00-00:00) and I also used their bottled water for my powdered milk. We took our own steriliser bags for the bottles. Their are no baths so be prepared to take your child in the shower with you as the sinks are very small. The Animation Team Initial impressions were poor due to one member greeting us at the hotel very drunk at 4am. This was rapidly turned around the following morning by the rest of the team who for our 10 day stay made our time fun and entertaining!!! Our favourite was Mike who loved to take our son visiting other guests around the pool side. He is very approachable and chatty and all round nice guy!!!! Activities in the day include Zumba, gymnastics, belly fancying, Bowles, water polo and aqua aerobics to name a few. Music around the pool was the same most days and those songs are drilled into our minds now even though we did not understand some of the songs. Entertainment The entertainment is average except for the Michael Jackson show which is exceptional and a must see!!!! It's a shame it's only 45 minutes long! We did raise this with Mike (star of the show) but his body couldn't withstand dancing much longer :-) Dining Have you ever seen gladiators the tv show? Contenders ready..... it's a free for all as a lot of the guests don't like to queue. Get in early to get the best puddings. If your late, then you get the left overs. There are plenty of food options each night and the waiting staff were exceptional throughout our stay. Apart from a few hiccups along the way the hotel is good value for money and the staff (apart from reception) make your stay memorable! We will be visiting again in the near future. Ok, but not really for an older single traveller.
On the good side, the room was nice, with a good shower, a balcony overlooking the gardens between the buildings and loads of space. The food was fine - personally, I mostly stuck with the Moroccan corner for dinner, but there was a good range including pizza, burgers and lots of more interesting things. There were separate rooms off the main buffet area for salads and for desserts. The adult swimming pool was quiet and pleasant, with plenty of sunbeds and other seating, and a drinks bar. Bottles of water were available all over the place for the asking. Service at the bars was generally very good. The beer was cold and fizzy,so probably fine for lagre drinkers; the red wine was better than I had expected! The restaurant was primarily self-service buffet, with waiter service for drinks and table-clearing - I would suggest tipping a waiter at your first meal and trying to sit in his area for the rest of your stay! The downside: very much French language dominated - the staff do make an effort with English, but it often seems to be an afterthought. The main pool area was very noisy, and the piped music was very repetitive. The location is not very good - there didn't seem to be anything in walking distance apart from one small row of roadside shops. There was a shuttle bus into Marrakech about 5 times a day each way, with one free service a day - but apparently you had to book it in advance. I think the fare was 20 dirhan (about £1.60) each way - I never actually used it, because the one time I decided to go on the spur of the moment, the bus had just gone and it was nearly 3 hours until the next one! I took one excursion - a full day into Marrakech, which was good - but the prices seemed a bit high to me (having paid well under £300 for 6 nights all-inclusive, about £75-80 for a day in the High Atlas seemed a lot relatively!). I think the hotel must have been under-occupied the first few days I was there, because it became noticeably busier at the weekend, and meals became a bit of a scrum in some areas. There was always a queue for breakfast eggs and pancakes, which didn't bother me particularly. Check-in was fairly shambolic - a coach-load of us were sent into a large conference room, leaving luggage with a member of staff, asked to fill in registration forms and then dealt with in random order with one of the staff vanishing after taking my form without doing anything useful like giving me a key. When I did get a key, the directions to the room were very vague, and I had some trouble finding it in the dark. When I did find it, my luggage was not there as had been promised, so I had to trek back to look for it, and eventually found it had been taken back to reception, because the check-in had not been done properly by the staff. If you have children and can cope with some basic French, I would recommend the Aqua Mirage highly; personally, I don't think I will return, since I only qualify on one of those criteria! (I was pleasantly surprised that my French hadn't totally gone!)More
Definitely recommended hotel
What can i say about this hotel, apart from perfection! Staff on arrival were courteous, funny and prompt. Luggage was taken to the room by the porter which was a nice touch. Rooms, were laid out neatly, and immaculate. The rooms were cleaned every day, with fresh bedding and towels. On arrival we were just in time to catch the remaining half hour of evening meal, expecting the dribs and drabs of the menu. We were pleasantly impressed by the vast array of freshly cooked food and loads to choose from. The rep, Adil, was polite and helpful. There were alot of trips to take, all of which were reasonably priced. We chose the Discover Marrakech and the Camel rides. Both of which i would highly recommend. The entertainment staff were amazing, if you ever wanted a group (16 i think) of people who were funny, worked tirelessly every day, were always happy and cheerful then these were for you. From 10am until 11pm they were about, wanting and encouraging you to join in the activities. If you said no, they accepted that and moved on, no constant hassling. Activities included, water aerobics, stretching, water polo, volleyball, darts, the list goes on. Oh and dont forget about the evenings activities. 8:30 kids mini disco. I couldn't tell you what the girls were like on this but have heard nothing bad, so must be brill. 9:45 was a show or some sort of entertainment, performances of dance, gymnastics and Marrakech authentic evenings. When the staff had time to rehearse all the moves, i do not know. But it paid off, they were amazing. Best night is the Michael Jackson show by far. We were lucky to have arrived over the weekend of the Aqua Mirage's 2nd Anniversary (30th April) they had a white party to celebrate along with cocktails, large cake and a semi famous DJ. This followed a day of Olympic Sports, where the entertainment teams split and had a team each to compete in different games. Some of these staff stood out. i must single out Teeto, Mike and Jimmy, they were all fantastic though. The staff in the bars were all courteous and friendly but i must point out Mustapha. He went above and beyond, making sure i didnt leave my table at all for the whole time i was there. This man (along with many others) make the holiday what it is. As relaxing and enjoyable as it could be. On leaving the hotel we found it a nice touch that some of the entertainment staff came out and said goodbye. My thanks goes out to all the 400+ staff who worked tirelessly and made my holiday amazing. I would definitely recommend going there againMore
