If you're looking for somewhere that's brimming with nature, the Turtle Bay Beach Club will be right up your street. Sitting in the heart of a National Marine Park in ten acres of gorgeous gardens, this attractive hotel will have your jaw dropping faster than you can say paradise.
Here at Turtle Bay, conservation's high up on the agenda. They have a 'Save the Turtle' campaign, which aims to preserve the rapidly dying species. And every Saturday there's a 'beach clean up', where guests are encouraged to pick up seaweed and debris, with a prize for the person who collects the most. A lot of the items are chopped up and recycled, or turned into something useful. Around the hotel you'll see plenty of original art made from things washed up on the shore, like trendy mosaics made from small squares of discarded flip flops. And if you look closely, you'll see that the cupboards, furniture and cabinets are made from broken-down dhow canoes.
Although many Kenyan hotels are on set on the beach, this place has managed to nab the best one of all. Recently voted the fifth best beach in the world, the private stretch of coastline is beautiful to say the least. It's uncrowded, unspoilt and totally irresistible. From the powder white sands to the sun-splashed waters, it's definitely got the wow factor – and then some.
Of course, it's not all about the scenery. The hotel's got plenty in the way of bars, restaurants and evening entertainment. The Weaver's Bar offers cocktails by a tropical pond, while the Canoe Bar has sea views galore. When it comes to dinner time, there's a buffet restaurant by the large pool, where the menu takes you around the world every night of the week. There's also an a la carte restaurant and pizzeria overlooking tropical waters and brightly coloured flowers. And if you're looking for after dinner entertainment, you'll find a disco, live music and traditional dancing by the large, impressive pool.
The beauty of the Turtle Bay Beach Club is that you can do you bit for the environment as you sunbathe, swim and generally have a good time. Who could ask for more?
