“With a lazy river and a house reef to complement its sleek interiors, this hotel is a cut above”.
This hotel looks out over Gardens Bay, one of Sharm El Sheikh’s best dive spots. Plus it’s got a fantastic house reef where you can snorkel among shoals of fish. There are beaches nearby – orange sands gliding into the sea, as well as sunbathing rocks perched above. And last but not least, the hotel is close to Naama Bay – the centre is three kilometres away.

Top billing though has to go to the gardens. Studded with balustraded terraces and green-topped pavilions, they’ve got a hint of the English seaside promenade about them. Down by the pools though, you enter fairytale territory. A lazy river glides through trailing bougainvillea and grottoes. The main pool, meanwhile, comes complete with rocky edges and water cascades. And children are well catered for, with a corkscrew waterslide.

The hotel interiors are rather special, too – think understated regal. Cue elegant marble and indoor palms running through the public areas. Similarly, the rooms are refined and tasteful, with sleek wooden headboards, neutral colour schemes and extras like tea and coffee kits.

On the culinary front you’re spoilt for choice. You can watch your meat and fish being fried or grilled by chefs at Café Fresco, the main buffet restaurant. Show cooking is a feature at the gourmet Thai eatery, too. The most popular spot though is The Souk. Spilling out onto a palm-dotted patio, it offers up a lavish array of Arabian, Western and Oriental cuisine for lunch and dinner – with evenings spiced up by authentic Bedouin drummers and musicians.

Your guide to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt - Red Sea

"Top diving. Great nightlife. And near-endless sunshine. Sparkling Sharm El Sheikh hits the spot for scuba fans, beach lovers and party-goers.”

Sun, sea and fun by the bucket-load. That’s pretty much Sharm El Sheikh in a nutshell. Perched on the southernmost tip of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, it’s drenched in hot, hot sunshine. No wonder it’s become the place to holiday in recent years. Everything that Sharm – as everyone calls it - has to offer comes down to its location. Once a sleepy fishing village, this resort now spreads between Nabq Bay in the north, down through the tourist heart of Naama Bay, to Maya Bay in the south. Wherever you are, look one way and you’ll see the rocky landscapes of the Sinai Desert. Look the other, and you’ll clock what most people come here for – the Red Sea. With incredible coral reefs, shipwrecks and marine life all basking in its warm waters, this is one of the world’s blockbuster scuba spots. Add the endless beaches that line it into the mix and there’s only one possible conclusion. Whichever way you look at it, Sharm has drawn itself one of the best location straws in the world. And that’s not all. There’s still its luxury hotels, fabulous shopping malls and endless supply of restaurants to think about. Not to mention the camel treks and thrilling desert excursions. All topped with a large helping of electrifying nightlife. Looking for sun, sea and fun? Take it away Sharm El Sheikh.
