The Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay offers up contemporary rooms and All Inclusive dining. There's a large pool, too, and a shuttle bus that'll run you down to the hotel's private beach.
This hotel opened its doors in 2009, so it has a modern, fresh feel. The bedrooms are a case in point – they’re cool and contemporary, decorated in stylish light pastel colours. Slick touches include air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars.
Outside, this low-level hotel fans out around a good-sized swimming pool. If you’re coming in the winter months, it’s worth pointing out the pool’s heated at this time of year. The surrounding sun terrace is decked out with cushioned loungers and the fledgling palms are beginning to take shape. If you prefer the beach, the hotel runs a shuttle service down to Naama Bay and private beach.
On the food front, it’s an All Inclusive affair – with breakfast, lunch and dinner taken care of, buffet-style. If you like a lie-in, you’ll be pleased to know the hotel lays on breakfasts up until 11.00 in the morning. Plus, afternoon tea and late-night snacks are all part of the package. And if you fancy a seafood supper under the stars, there’s also an outdoor à la carte restaurant here - it’s worth paying that little bit extra for.

Bomba Time - fantastic holiday!
First time to Egypt and we loved it - want to go back NOW and only left Sunday night. Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff very friendly and always happy to help. We were welcomed with a cool face towel and fruit cocktail to cool us after our long trip which was very welcome :-) Food was very good and we always had lots to choose from. Karemme Hammer, Fasih and Kenzi of the Entertainment Team were great but were let down by outside entertainers. Karemme's DJ set on Saturday 23rd Aug was fantastic â¨. All in all a great holidayMore

I spent 2 weeks at the Sol Y Mar hotel with my cousin and had an amazing time! The staff are very friendly and attentive, always happy to sort out any problem. The rooms are a decent size and always cleaned daily by the lovely cleaning staff. The pool area is spacious and clean and there is a bar nearby in the shade which is handy if you need a break from the sun! Even though it's summertime, it wasn't over crowded and there were always free sun loungers. The only downside was the food, i found it quite bland and i did feel unwell after a few days but my cousin loved it! The location isn't ideal as it's kind of in the middle of nowhere but there are always taxis outside the hotel to take you anywhere you need to go. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!More

Just returned from two fantastic weeks at Sol Y Mar - Sharks Bay. All the staff were fantastic and couldn't help you enough. Lot's of lovely food and plenty of choice throughout the day. Great swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers. Great edition is the free shuttle bus to their sister hotel to use their private beach. Great entertainment for adults and kids during the day and evening from Kenzie and his team. Thank you to all the staff at Sol Y Mar especially Ibrahim for looking after us when we arrived, Nabil and all the waiters, the housekeeping staff for the fantastic towel art and of course Kenzie and the animation team. We will definitely be returning!More

Another happy camper!!
My partner and I have just returned from a 2 week stay at Sol y Mar and having read all the reviews both good and bad I was very open minded with what to expect. Transfer took only 10 minutes from the airport, check in was swift and easy. Staff took our bags and within 10 minutes of arriving we were supping our first lovely cocktail in the upper bar. Room: clean with plenty of storage. Bathroom was okay, however the floor was soaked every time you showered so additional towels were needed for the floor. Pool: HEAVEN! Staff worked endlessly keeping the area clean and tidy, continuously bringing drinks and fruit skewers. My one negative comment would be the plastic cups used around the pool area - not clean most of the time and could use a good scrub or invest in more of them to allow time to put the dirty ones through the dish washer. Entertainment: Booomba! You could set your watch... Water polo, aqua aerobics and killer darts. Evening entertainment wasn't our cup of tea so we spent most evenings in the top bar playing cards and chilling out Food: plenty of variety - pasta station was our favourite stop, along with beef! Plenty of fresh fruit and salad. I was very weary of getting poorly however, I ate so many different types of things and not a rumble! The hotel provide a shuttle bus to their sister hotel to access the beach. Definitely worth it! The beach is beautiful, ideal for snorkelling and swimming. You can use the beach bar for drinks and the pool area for snacks etc. the staff there make you feel very welcome. Excursions: we booked with the rep Joseph who pops to see you while relaxing at the pool. We did the scuba diving and the desert safari! For the best value for money go with the desert safari - this consists of quad biking, camel riding, mountain climbing, dinner, dance and star gazing! It was amazing. Non stop action from the moment you are picked up from the hotel. Ibrahim the guide was a gem! Funny, entertaining and worth his weight in gold. Naama Bay: a must! I was dreading it- getting harassed etc but I have to say I loved it. Great atmosphere, good fun and bargains to be had - but don't buy the cigarettes! Well dodgy! Buy from the proper shops and not the stalls.... (Or hotel for the real ones) All in all we had a brilliant holiday. The staff make this hotel. I wouldn't say its a 4* - more a 3* with 5* staff and customer service. Location is a bit naff but if you want the peace and quiet to relax then you won't be disappointed. Would I return? Yes.More
