Hotel Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay

The Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay offers up contemporary rooms and All Inclusive dining. There's a large pool, too, and a shuttle bus that'll run you down to the hotel's private beach.

This hotel opened its doors in 2009, so it has a modern, fresh feel. The bedrooms are a case in point – they’re cool and contemporary, decorated in stylish light pastel colours. Slick touches include air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars.

Outside, this low-level hotel fans out around a good-sized swimming pool. If you’re coming in the winter months, it’s worth pointing out the pool’s heated at this time of year. The surrounding sun terrace is decked out with cushioned loungers and the fledgling palms are beginning to take shape. If you prefer the beach, the hotel runs a shuttle service down to Naama Bay and private beach.

On the food front, it’s an All Inclusive affair – with breakfast, lunch and dinner taken care of, buffet-style. If you like a lie-in, you’ll be pleased to know the hotel lays on breakfasts up until 11.00 in the morning. Plus, afternoon tea is part of the package. And if you fancy a seafood supper under the stars, there’s also an outdoor à la carte restaurant here - it’s worth paying that little bit extra for.

18-30 hotel

This is a 18-30 hotel. If you want loud music, lots of pool games, not fussed on the cleanliness of the room, pool or facilities, like high fiving everyone and you just want to go away and have a laugh then this is for you! Oh and you get woken up by planes as you're on the flight path! We read all the reviews and it sounds amazing but we were disappointed as we just wanted to relax and rest. Staff were VERY friendly, however the restaurant manager is Very Sleazy. Food quality is excellent, but is spoilt by the evening entertainment starting at 8.30-9pm each night and going on until 12pm. Coupled with a pool party on Wednesday meant the young alcoholics kept going until 3am! Towels and sheets were ripped and in poor condition, rooms varied by block and by room number, we got moved to one with a high balcony and the condition of the room greatly improved. The ground ones by the pools were awful.....couldn't even swing a cat! I went to the beach each day in the end and on the free shuttle bus you meet everyone that hates the hotel/pool and want to move! Oh and there is no exclusive fancy restaurant on site as advertised......don't know where they got that info from! Oh and no free bus to naama bay either, though the paperwork says there is. All in all, the food and the staff keep this place going.More

Great First Trip To Egypt

Just got back from Egypt for the very first time and oh my did me and my girlfriend have a quality time. Before we booked up the hotel we done a lot of research on trip adviser because we wanted to make sure we chose the right hotel and Sol Y Mar was perfect for us and I cant fault it one bit. The hotel is close to the airport which is good after a long flight, it may put some people off but this never affected the hotel, couple of odd planes flying near by but they were never noisy. When we drive towards the hotel myself and the girlfriend had looked at eachother like what have we booked up because it is a bit of in the middle of nowhere with a few broken down/ half built buildings around the area, but they do say don't judge a book by a cover and that is right because once we entered the driveway of the Sol Y Mar hotel, it was like paradise. The gardens were well maintained and everything looked very new. There was a lot of security around the hotel which made you feel safe which was another good thing as you didn't have to worry about things. The hotel itself is at a good size, not too small not too big and the rooms itself had everything you needed to have. The pool was big and there were plenty of sun loungers so there was room for everyone. Now I am a fussy eater and the main reason we chose this hotel was because a lot of people said the food was at an decent level and they were right. The food was always nice and always had something different to choose from, even if they didn't have it you could ask and it would more and likely be sorted for you. What makes this hotel special is the staff, everyone of them were so friendly and did all they could for you so here are a few special mentions. The Animation Team Ahmed - What a guy, was basically the main man and pulled the strings. Always made sure you was having fun and entertained even when he had his hand bandaged up he still done his famous dance moves and didn't let it affect him. Bobosh- My Chelsea man, funny guy and another one with some wicked dance moves. Nikola- Didn't really get her and found her a bit too much in your face, always looked off her head on alcohol or something lol, weren't really for me Hotel Staff Mohamed (Night Reception) - What a gentleman, always had a smile on his face and was so helpful, sorted out any problems or queries . One night we came back from a night out and were really hungry so we fancied a Mcdonalds so Mohamed ordered it for us no problem even though it was engaged for a long time. Osama - Another gentleman, would always pull out my girlfriends chair for her. He would always have a drink on a table for us while we were up getting our dinner and you would never need to get up for a refill because he would always have a new glass for you. It was a pleasure to of met him and a credit to the hotel. Sayed - Another gentleman just like Osama but we did not really see him much as he wasn't working every day I believe, but was very polite and always chatting to us making sure everything was alright. The restaurant manager Abd El Salaam I believe his name is?? But I know him as the "Alright Son, Alright Geez", man. A character I wont forget due to the fact he was very unique. Would always put himself out the way to come and talk to you, making sure everything was ok. Would joke around a lot with you but if you had any problems or wanted something specific from the restaurant then he would be sort it. Michael - Top geezer from fast drink service to going round throwing ice over people and causing mischief in a good way, always making people laugh and smile by entertaining them. Leaving the best to last and that is Hussein Sayed (Mr Foxy Roxy) - This guy probably made my holiday, had me laughing non stop from the time I met him until the time I left him. First night we arrived the upstairs bar was full up and he managed to grab two chairs for us, carried them outside and made us feel at home. Each day he would always bring drinks to us meaning we would not even have to leave our chairs or sun loungers. Constantly smiling and trying to interact with guests, taking part in some of the dances and just being a pleasure to be around. Its people like Foxy who make it all worthwhile and I will never forget him, cheers for everything Fox. There were many more staff who were a pleasure to meet but the ones above are the ones who are stuck in my head. So overall great hotel, great food and drink and great staff, will look forward to returning very soon because I love this hotel.More

SHARM 2014

Stayed here for two weeks in a group of four, last week in august first week in september. I must say it was just as I read in the reviews. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much they really go the extra mile, but most of all very trustworthy. The entertainment team are fantastic, really know how to make you feel welcome. Good range of food and drinks, the rooms are clean and well looked after and quite modern with flat screens tv's and nice decor. The pool is massive!! Plenty of sunbeds to choose from and no need to reserve. Definatley a must if your looking for somewhere nice to stay and you are on a budget. J.More
