Hotel Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay

The Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay offers up contemporary rooms and All Inclusive dining. There's a large pool, too, and a shuttle bus that'll run you down to the hotel's private beach.

This hotel opened its doors in 2009, so it has a modern, fresh feel. The bedrooms are a case in point – they’re cool and contemporary, decorated in stylish light pastel colours. Slick touches include air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars.

Outside, this low-level hotel fans out around a good-sized swimming pool. If you’re coming in the winter months, it’s worth pointing out the pool’s heated at this time of year. The surrounding sun terrace is decked out with cushioned loungers and the fledgling palms are beginning to take shape. If you prefer the beach, the hotel runs a shuttle service down to Naama Bay and private beach.

On the food front, it’s an All Inclusive affair – with breakfast, lunch and dinner taken care of, buffet-style. If you like a lie-in, you’ll be pleased to know the hotel lays on breakfasts up until 10.00 in the morning. Plus, afternoon tea is part of the package. And if you fancy a seafood supper under the stars, there’s also an outdoor à la carte restaurant here - it’s worth paying that little bit extra for.

animation team made our holiday

The food isn't great especially if you are a fussy eater and the rooms are okay but the animation team and staff are definitely the best part of this hotel. They are all very kind, funny and helpful and encourage you to make the best of your holiday. Ali and Ahmed are the best dancers in Egypt and Mohammed was always involved in activities around the pool and evening entertainment. Fanta and marina were very helpful :) . All staff at the hotel are friendly and very helpful, especially the bar staff around the pool and of an evening. the hotel is quite close to soho square and there is a free bus that stops outside the hotel every evening and brings you back later on. Soho square is good for shopping and bars without any hassle. Would Definitely go again.More

Quick June Break

Just returned from a wonderful week away at this resort. Plus points:- Food Good Hotel Clean Drinks plentiful Staff Great Near the Airport Small & Friendly Not really minus points Near the Airport A bit out in the wilderness away from the main resort There are no lifts only 3 levels so if you are not good with stairs not really for you The staff sometimes blanked my partner and spoke over her to me.(That is their culture) All in all the stay was wonderful would recommend, We were on the 3rd floor a little quieter on this level.More

Only fault is food and location

Just returned from 10 days at sol y mar, some members of staff are a credit to the hotel and go above and beyond for guests and really go out of there way to make your holiday great! The only two faults I have with this hotel is the food and location, the food was not cooked enough e.g. The pasta was hard and eggs were too runny, the restaurant staff however were very helpful and friendly. we ordered McDonald's to be delivered to the hotel a couple of times which was amaze but I basically lived on rice and pasta, food at the pool bar wasn't the best either. My other negative point is the location it's literally in the middle of nowhere and you have to get a bus/taxi if you want to go anywhere taxi prices weren't too bad but apparently if you use the blue and white ones not the ones through the hotel they are much cheaper, we stuck with the hotels taxi service to be on the safe side. The beach was okay but nothing special the sea is very far out and you have to wear shoes to get to it cause there's lots of rocks etc on the floor but good that you can get drinks and snacks for free overall the hotel is very clean although the cleaner forgot to clean the room twice meaning we had to use towels that had been on the floor (didn't really bother us but I prefer clean towels each day) I recommend you don't book any trips through Thompson as the other excursion guys offer the same trips for much less. I wouldn't return to this hotel purely because of the location and food but other than that it was good value for money and we felt very welcome by all members of staff More

Charlie L,

Hobn,

Worth the money

We stayed for 10 nights at the hotel and it is exactly as described on the tour operator website and the other trip advisor reviews are very accurate. The hotel is a bit out of the way and shabby but the pool is big enough to accommodate everyone and there is a free bus to the sister hotel that has a beach and there are loungers on the second level if you don't want to be right by the pool. We came away for a hassle free break and so had to sit up on the second level on the loungers outside our room because there are people trying to sell you trips and massages however you are left alone entirely up there which we preferred. You have to be everyone's best friend in order to get anything done, this includes having your room cleaned. Leaving the sign on the door doesn't mean it will get done. We had to ask Maria the guest relations lady for towels 3 days on the bounce but they always arrived promptly after we spoke to her so a big thanks for that! Nobody brings you drinks at dinner, round the pool or at the bar in the evening unless you become their best friend. The food is ok, nothing special, it's pretty much the same each day and if you want something 'hot' that's not been sat under a hot lamp you have to wait a good 10 minutes for it to be cooked while you wait. Don't expect anyone to go above and beyond for you unless you brown nose. Not something we're keen on doing. The animation team are great, although it's cringe worthy it is hilarious and they are always very pleasant and chatty and a great laugh. There's a few little things that could be improved (dated, bit shabby) but nothing worth complaining about. As with everything you get what you pay for and we got a good deal on this holiday and it was definitely worth the money. Would recommend to people who want to stay on the resort and aren't fussed about having a beach! More
