The Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay offers up contemporary rooms and All Inclusive dining. There's a large pool, too, and a shuttle bus that'll run you down to the hotel's private beach.
This hotel opened its doors in 2009, so it has a modern, fresh feel. The bedrooms are a case in point – they’re cool and contemporary, decorated in stylish light pastel colours. Slick touches include air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars.
Outside, this low-level hotel fans out around a good-sized swimming pool. If you’re coming in the winter months, it’s worth pointing out the pool’s heated at this time of year. The surrounding sun terrace is decked out with cushioned loungers and the fledgling palms are beginning to take shape. If you prefer the beach, the hotel runs a shuttle service down to Naama Bay and private beach.
On the food front, it’s an All Inclusive affair – with breakfast, lunch and dinner taken care of, buffet-style. If you like a lie-in, you’ll be pleased to know the hotel lays on breakfasts up until 11.00 in the morning. Plus, afternoon tea is part of the package. And if you fancy a seafood supper under the stars, there’s also an outdoor à la carte restaurant here - it’s worth paying that little bit extra for.
Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Late breakfast 10.30-11.30.
Afternoon tea and coffee 16.00-17.00. Selected local-brand alcohol and soft drinks until 24.00.
Snacks 12.00-17.00 and pastries 16.00-17.00.
Offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner with themed buffets ranging from Asian, Italian and Mediterranean to Oriental, French and international cuisine. Gluten free menu available on request. Dress code applies, long trousers for men and no vest tops.
Twin room with pool view sleeps up to 2 adults and a child with a double or twin beds and an extra bed, suitable for a child up to 12 years. Please be aware there is a charge for the minibar and internet.

Some improvements needed
Okay so i will write this review in as much detail as possible from arriving at sharm airport to the hotel rite the way through to leaving, so without further ado, lets start with the arrival.
Arrival into Sharm.
We flew out with Easyjet and landed into Terminal 1, fantastic flight fantastic crew we arrived pretty much on time. the busses are quick to pick you up off the aircraft and take you to the terminal, once inside the terminal you go to a little booth, not too sure what happens here but i know they try to sell you the visa which is what you need if you are going on trips outside of the resort of sharm I.E into the desert or on the boats, its something like £12 english, anyhow the bags came out quick and we found our transport.
we booked this through Resorthoppa, we found the resorthoppa rep very easily we then waited in a group for about 5 mins, and then were taken off to the coach, all in all very quick and easy
The hotel Check in
This is where i could see things were not going to go quite right, as me and my fiance are both male when we checked in we were asked if we would like 2 single beds or a double, we requested a double but then as if by magic there were no double beds... hmmmm. however we were then taken to our room and then left to settle down
The rooms arnt too bad, but this is one of the letdowns to this hotel, usually we are not to bothered about the rooms because they are only really for sleeping and getting ready in, however on the first night we discovered that in the bathroom there was a screw / nail acting as a door stop, you could tell this had been put in as a side job because it was right where you would step out of the shower, and we found out it was there by stepping on it!!, and the floor does get very wet from the shower, the floor in the room is rather dirty if you walk around bare foot after a shower your feet become very dirty quickly. on the second night it started to get abit worse, first the shower would not drain and then the toilet wouldnt flush properly and when we opened the front door it looked like something out of Titanic, the drains had blocked and flooded and the water was about an inch off the door step, eventually that was fixed, However the next day, the same problem, we did asked to be moved rooms but were told that it would be fixed and when they came to fix it we were then told not to put toilet paper down the toilet and to put it in the bin, however everyone else we spoke to put theres down the toilet and didnt have a problem, but when we looked our room was next to a grid and what looked like the junction between the drains of that block, however on the brighter side the beds were comfy and the towel art was fantastic!!
if you have been reading the other reviews on this hotel you will find that the staff are perfect, i speak about the restaurant and bar staff here, i will get onto management later on, but the staff were fantastic, they took the time to get to know you and by the end of the holiday you didnt need to get up for drinks as the bar staff would walk round taking orders, our favourite was michael!, and the restaurant staff were the same they got to know you, this of course all up until our last day when there was a staff changeover some staff went home and new ones came in and they didnt know you you didnt know them, but all in all the staff were fab!!
This is what makes the hotel great, i have no complaint about these guys at all!!, they work so dam hard in what they do and if you say no they just leave you alone so this is a 5 star entertainment team so a massive thankyou to Samir (Sam), Achmed, and the others for keeping us entertained during our stay!!
For a hotel in sharm el sheikh the food is amazing, im sure you know when ever you go to egypt you get bad bowls to put it politely, however in this hotel we didnt this is another area which cannot be improved on because the food is second to none!!, the beef wellington was amazing and all the other foods they did were great!!
The Sales people
How annoying are these people, these are the people that come to sell you the trips, the spar, and yesterdays news paper, which if you dont plan on doing any of these they can get quite annoying but after day 2 they just leave you alone
We used these a few times, first time to Nabq Bay to the Hard rock cafe, even through we got dropped off about 5 mins walk away it was worth it, you know who your driver is and you arrange what time to be picked up, it cots 220 LE which is about £22 and thats for between 2-4 people, but if you are planning on going out do go to the hardrock!! the food is great and cheap!!, we also used the taxi to go to Soho Square, and because there was 6 of us it worked out at £2.50 return each which isnt bad.
Mc Donalds Delivery
I had to slip this one in, how amazing we had 2 double quarter pounder meals and 9 nuggets delivered for about £14, its a must do, it gets delivered right to the hotel!!
There are none!! :D if you have been to egypt before you will know sharm is like the benidorm for russians and if you pick the wrong hotel you feel like an outcase however in the sol y mar it was 80 percent english so fantastic, however the sister hotel the Jaz Belverder or what ever its called was about 90 percent russian so i would advise not going there!!
What a fun time this was, the checkout its self was easy went up handed in the keys and towel cards and left our bags in the lobby and waited for our transport, however about an hour before pickup the hotel management asked us if we had taken anything from the mini bar, which we hadnt because were in an all inclusive hotel, which eventually we were being accused of stealing out of the mini bar, this put my expectations of the hotel right down and i blame this entirely on the hotel management, the quickest way to loose guests and get bad reviews is to accuse your customers of doing something they didnt do, we did move the minibar about so we could get our own things in the fridge but we most certainly did not use anything from it!!, the management handled it awfully they were crowded around us on our chairs as if to keep us sat down and as if they wouldnt allow us to get up, what an awful experience that was so when the transport arrived to pick us up, the hotel management had gone off probably to accuse us some more, so we quickly grabbed our bags got on the bus and only felt safe when the bus had left the hotel, this is not a way to remember your holiday by, so this needs sorting out!!
sharm airport is abit different to other airports, before you get to checkin you have to lift your cases onto a scanner then get it off again, then proceed to check in, then you head off through customs, and then security again, we accidently left a full bottle of water in our hand luggage however it went through undetected, saved us buying water in the terminal.
So all in all a mixed review some good points some bad points, we wont be returning to this hotel because of being accused however if the management was better and the rooms abit cleaner this would be a wonderful hotel, i hope this review helps you in making the right choice :)More

We first visited in May 2014 and liked it so much, we returned September 2014. Have only just got round to writing this review. We were emailed a few days before we arrived asking what room we would like and arrival time as they were picking us up in their limo. We asked for the same as before and we were not disappointed. Unfortunately, our flight was 5 hours delayed and we had to transfer using the mini bus. Last time we suggested a kettle in the room, this time, there was one. Our holiday lived up to our expectations and it was lovely to see some old faces again and they did remember us. This hotel and staff go out of their way to make sure you have a great holiday. My son and his partner, were in Egypt at the same time as us but at a different hotel. We were to meet up for a day, before they went home. We asked if Sol Y Mar could accomodate them for one night so we could spend longer with them. They booked them into the room next to ours!!! A big thank you to Sol Y Mar. We have been to Egypt 15 times and this is only the second hotel we have returned too!!! We have just booked to return in May 2015More

Small, Quiet, Friendly Hotel
I stayed at the Sol y Mar as a solo female guest from 7th-21st November.
The hotel is small, quiet and very friendly, mainly english guests of all ages.
The receptionists are friendly and generally have a smile on their faces and always happy to help. The lobby is big and you are able to sit in the lobby, if you wish to.
The restaurant is always clean and tidy, there is a variety of food dishes to try, I am vegetarian and never felt hungry. The waiters are very efficent and friendly. Osama and Said work very hard to ensure you have drinks and have all you require, always smiling and friendly...Said- I have not forgot...Live for today!
Khalid is such a quiet shy person but kept me supplied with endless cups of tea through out the day, such a nice guy when you get talking to him- Khalid - follow your dream!
Michael (my brother) the bar person is great, always smiling, working hard and can dance, always remembers the drink you have, again great guy when you get to know him.
All the other bar guys and waiters are friendly and work so hard.
There is a pool bar area with tables and chairs if you want to sit in the shade. The waiters also made sure guets aroung the pool were kept topped up with drinks, they came round every day with icecream lollys and fruit skewers.
The pool guys are always smiling and friendly, the pool was always kept clean and tidy.
The rooms are a decent size, nicely decorated and didnt look tired or show much sign of wear or tear. Bathroom has a shower cubicle instead of a shower over a bath...which was better.
Shady (housekeeping) always said hello and checked to see if I needed anything. Shady kept the room clean and I had clean fresh towels everyday.
The Head of security would always be wondering around the hotel and checking all was ok. Always said hello to me, and asked if I had a good day.
The animation team - Sam- Ahmed and Nikola were the best animation team I have seen ( I have seen many animation teams). Always on the go through out the day and evening, if you didnt want to join in with the day activities around the pool, you say no and they would except that but they would but still come and talk to you through out the day. The evening entertainment was very good, different every night.
The General Manger would walk around the hotel ensuring that all was OK. He is a shy person and can come across as ignorant but this is far from the truth, such a pleasent friendly man when you get to talk to him.
This is such a nice hotel, and i had a pleasent stay.More
