The Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay offers up contemporary rooms and All Inclusive dining. There's a large pool, too, and a shuttle bus that'll run you down to the hotel's private beach.
This hotel opened its doors in 2009, so it has a modern, fresh feel. The bedrooms are a case in point – they’re cool and contemporary, decorated in stylish light pastel colours. Slick touches include air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars.
Outside, this low-level hotel fans out around a good-sized swimming pool. If you’re coming in the winter months, it’s worth pointing out the pool’s heated at this time of year. The surrounding sun terrace is decked out with cushioned loungers and the fledgling palms are beginning to take shape. If you prefer the beach, the hotel runs a shuttle service down to Naama Bay and private beach.
On the food front, it’s an All Inclusive affair – with breakfast, lunch and dinner taken care of, buffet-style. If you like a lie-in, you’ll be pleased to know the hotel lays on breakfasts up until 11.00 in the morning. Plus, afternoon tea is part of the package. And if you fancy a seafood supper under the stars, there’s also an outdoor à la carte restaurant here - it’s worth paying that little bit extra for.

We spent a week in December here and had a very mixed experience.I would firstly like to say on a positive note we had a lovely sunny warm week and all the staff are friendly, hard working and offer very good service in all areas from the animation team, bar, restaurant, cleaner etc.I would say this is what is getting the very high ratings on trip advisor. The guests are English mostly and you get to know most people as its a small friendly hotel. My experience was very spoiled by extreme mosquito bites which started whist sleeping in the room on my very first night.I had applied the local OFF mosquito spray that usually works a treat when i visit Egypt and this being the 5th time in Egypt but this didn't work here. Our wonderful cleaner Shady sprayed the room daily when he seen that i was suffering extreme bites but i kept on being bitten day and night and had to visit the doctor in the hotel clinic everyday for treatment, thank god i was well insured,he was very good.By the end of the week i had around 80 bites. The food was well below average for a 4 star hotel and i would say i have had much better in a 3 star hotel but the snacks by the pool was quite good and drinks we very nice although because of medication with the bites i was only able to drink alcohol for the first day.Obviously the bites spoiled my holiday but that aside i wouldn't return to the hotel as there are much better hotels in Sharm where you get free bottles of water in the room which are in my opinion essential when a lot of people end up with poorly tummies.More
Best Hotel In Sharm By Far!!!!
Having been to Sharm El Sheikh 7 times before, Sol Y Mar is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Me and my friend decided to go to Egypt for my birthday, we got a fairly cheap deal and we were happy to stay anywhere really. When we got there the staff made us instantly feel at home and were helpful in everything they did. We read only a little on the hotel before our arrival and weren't really sure on what to expect- what we didn't expect was for the hotel to be as amazing as it was!!! Everything was a 10/10. The staff all spoke incredible English and were always so happy to help with anything. The animation team were always speaking to people and making everyone laugh throughout the day and they organised the shows every night which were always different and interesting to watch. They always made a real effort with the night time events e.g. Pacha, Hard Rock Café:- they were always looking after everyone and making sure everyone was having a good time and they'd always be up and about early the next morning getting everyone up to dance and get involved with playing the water sports and dart games. The hotel itself was beautiful. It wasn't massive yet it wasn't tiny, it was just the perfect size. There was always someone cleaning something and someone always checking you were okay and that you were having a good time. The restaurant was so nice. There was always something to eat- you could never go hungry because there was so much choice. People tend to complain that the hotel was too far out of they way but everywhere we wanted to go e.g. Naama Bay, Soho Square, Nabq Bay, the water park and the beach were only a short taxi away, the furthest one was only 20 minutes away. Both me and my friend found 0 faults with out holiday and this hotel and we also found that people who have a minor complaint are often looking for one because it was perfect! I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone, whether you've been to sharm before or want to experience something new- Sol Y Mar ticks all the boxes, its a perfect 10/10.More
A little late with review but thought I would do this as I am surfing the internet to book again in March. Stayed at this Gem of a hotel from 28th November 2014 for 8 nights(not long enough). Every member of the staff in this hotel couldn't do enough for you, the bar staff kept the drinks coming, fruit kebabs and ice lolly's presented to you whilst by the pool catching the rays. The fantastic entertainment staff encouraged you to take part in activities but respected the word No if you didn't want too. The food was good and Omar was prompt to serve us our wine with every course!! Went to the beach and although the hotel and beach were nice I felt our hotel was smaller and more friendly. Looking forward to our return in March and have recommended to some friends who are visiting in 2 weeks time............Marie and NigelMore

Best relaxing holiday
Just returned from a fantastic relaxing week my mum is in a wheelchair but nothing was to much a problem for the staff and her , continually opening doors and ensuring she had everything she needed, but saying that they were like that with everyone ensuring that your glass was always full whether at breakfast table or around the pool. Brought around ice creams in the afternoon. Rooms kept lovely and clean by Mohammad . The restaurant staff were an absolute credit to the hotel . The entertainment team were excellent did not force you do to the activities if you did not want to them . I have booked up to go back in September but this time I bringing the girls as I have raved on so much they want to go there .More

Sad to leave .. An amazing time, Without doubt we will return next year
On returning to 1 degree and snow, it made us feel even more sad after leaving Sol Y Mar, We spent 12 days at the resort, a little cold to start after the snow in Cairo, although the amazing staff, food and clean accommodation, the weather didnât really matter. Ive visited Sharm 4 times over 10 years, and by far this is the best hotel ive had the pleasure of visiting in Sharm. Above other 5 star rated hotels, Sol Y Mar defiantly attracts the right type of clientele, (Mainly English) so a great atmosphere around the pool in the day, along with Babosh and Akhmed, (Hope you have stayed dry Babosh...) Food wise - I suffer with a very temperamental stomach - neither me of my partner suffered from the 'Egyptian Delly Belly' The restaurant was spotless, and food was amazing catering for all taste's, with a waiter on hand to explain exactly what was in all the food's, and amazing deserts.(Both of us gained a few pounds.....) 5 Star - for food, Osama - Made every meal a pleasure, we are both going to miss you, Wish Osama and family well with your imminent new born, Local wine and Beer â was the best Iâve experienced at an all inclusive hotel All in All, A special thanks to all he staff at Sol Y Mar for an amazing experience, I spent my 30th Birthday here, and the staff couldnât do enough to make it special, Animation Team - Keep up the hard work, your brill ! ! See you all next January ! Jamie and Monika,More
