Had a great stay at sol y mar, hotel and staff are brilliant. Staff could not do enough for you, rooms and restaurants are nice and clean. There was a wide selection of food and drink on offer. The only think that I would say is for them to look at the times the snack bar opens and possibly a late night snack on offer would be a good idea (this is not too much of a problem as mc Donald's deliver) overall the hotel staff and full Holliday was great.we would highly recommend this place especially for the price!!!!!More

Great for a 3 star!

This hotel is top notch! Only being classed as a 3-star is wrong!? It's well worth 4!! The STAFF can't help you enough (although they love tips) such as during the day they would have waiters round the pool, which have An amazing memory! They are always smiling and will help with any query! They are so funny, making jokes all day! The reception staff Mohammed and Mohammed they would sort any problem out for you! The ANIMATION team are just fabulous, full of enthusiasm especially in the 40/50 degree heat, mentioning in particular Alex! He was so good at getting our family of 17 included in the events during the day such as water polo, killer darts and water aerobics, not to mention the night time entertainment was fab, the variety from comedy sketches to Egyptian dancers! We had such fun thanks to him! He meshed so well with the kids and so happy to do anything for you. Enough bragging about them we had a LARGE FAMILY so things were difficult in general but not at this hotel, every day they had our table of 17 ready for dinner, lunch whenever we wanted it! They had our 17 sun beds toweled and ready at 8 every morning, special mention to yusef! Thank you! The FOOD was great with a pasta bar, grill, cold salads, breads etc... Pool bar was available from 10 to get drunk and food; like pizza, chips etc... however after a week I Suppose the food would get samey however hop on a bus (that they will arrange) and 10 mins later your in SOHO square which is booming with restaurants, shops, clubs etc...! The DRINK (alcoholic) were served pretty much all day, there is a bar on top of the lobby which is lovely chill out space, plus a pool table! ROOM SIZE is an issue, promo is only suitable for 2 people plus if needed room for a cot (Mis advertised) and the other rooms are 2 people plus an extra bed they will give you! The CLEANERS are so friendly especially Mohammed, he worked on the 1st floor as one day I had to much to drink and vomited all over the bed but Mohammed came changed everything including the mattress and gave me tablets and water! NOW WATER... On arrival you get given one litre bottle, which throughout your stay, you are meant to fill up and re use, bit inconvenient but hey! The mini bar is chargeable! DAY TRIPS are all sorted by the hotel and can be bargains! I mean we went on a private boat with our own crew and went snorkelling for £55 per adult and free for kids!!! Plus we went quad biking through the desert to see the sunrise at 4 am and the staff were all ready and up to greet us! Also the sister hotel is a 10 minute drive with a bus that goes like every hour, to the beach! So easy! I had such a lovely stay that I cried a little leaving! I wanted to stay longer and the heat never let us down! More

Lizzy M,

Amazing place

I have recently returned from a holiday in Eygpt ,where I went with my 14 year old daughter , never traveled just us two before so bit unsure where to go , but I must say this hotel sol y mar was so friendly and made us feel at ease, full of English prob 90 percent, the staff were excellent , both Mohamed's on reception all the bar staff and sihad ( can't spell ) from the resterant was spot on with every thing, Michael from the bar was just a sweetie regarding my daughter always put a smile on our faces , it's very hard going a way as one parent people tend not to speak to you but the staff were brill and we were made very welcome , small but friendly .More

Amazing staff, good hotel - not so great location...

My partner and I really enjoyed our two week stay at Sol Y Mar. The staff were just amazing from start to finish. The whole animation team made our holiday getting everyone involved with their antics! (Fanta was so lovely!!) Ali the leader of the animation team was particularly a highlight of the holiday :) The hotel was ideal for couples like ourselves but wouldn't take a large group as it is quite small compared to others we have stayed at. The location of the hotel isn't great.. You need to get a taxi anywhere as there is NO shops outside the hotel that you can 'just walk to' which is a shame... The food was OK with little variety though we did find that we were having the same meals frequently... However, the staff did go out of their way to make chips or any other requested meal for dinner if you didn't fancy anything (as I am a very fussy eater). Chef Ayman was one of the ones who would help you if you didn't like anything - breakfast and lunch on the other hand were excellent. As for the excursions you could go on, they were all quite far away from the hotel which meant constant travelling as the hotel is very remote. We done the boat trip and quad biking which we do every year and it was the best we have done by far. We booked these trips when we went down to the beach one day. Management was really helpful, we didn't get our room cleaned for 3 days, which wasn't a huge problem, however we did speak to reception about it as our towels were not replaced. This was sorted quickly which was great. When we left the hotel, the management stated that we had drank from the mini bar which is located in our room. (You have to pay for drinks in your fridge even though its all inclusive and you could just walk down to the bar and grab some drinks...?) Turns out they didn't fill up our fridge in the first place, so we didn't have to pay. We would go back to this hotel purely based on the staff. Thanks again!! Meg & Jay :) X xMore

Holiday (Big Baby)

We've just got back from here, mine and my girlfriends first holiday together. It wasn't our first choice as originally we were going Tunisia. But wow, what a substitute. The staff are all very friendly and will do anything for you. On arrival we were shown to our room by ibrahim, who carried our suitcases with no problems. And then showed us how work everything, and where everything was. Once we had settled in and on our first proper day we were welcomed by the amazing animation team, (Ahmed, Rhonda, marina, and Alex) who would do absolutely anything to make the holiday that much better, they came around everyday to make sure everything is ok, Ahmed and the team definitely made us feel very welcomed and put us at ease that first day. Even to the point of my partner having a dodgy travellers tummy, Ahmed went out of his way to try and help her. They were always coming around the pool asking, and encouraging us to join in with the activities. We'll never forget boomba! :) and Ahmed with his comedy sketch (hahaha. Big baby) We will definitely be back. Absolutely loved this holiday. Thanks to all the staff, especially Ahmed and saied for making this one to remember. More
