The Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay offers up contemporary rooms and All Inclusive dining. There's a large pool, too, and a shuttle bus that'll run you down to the hotel's private beach.
This hotel opened its doors in 2009, so it has a modern, fresh feel. The bedrooms are a case in point – they’re cool and contemporary, decorated in stylish light pastel colours. Slick touches include air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars.
Outside, this low-level hotel fans out around a good-sized swimming pool. If you’re coming in the winter months, it’s worth pointing out the pool’s heated at this time of year. The surrounding sun terrace is decked out with cushioned loungers and the fledgling palms are beginning to take shape. If you prefer the beach, the hotel runs a shuttle service down to Naama Bay and private beach.
On the food front, it’s an All Inclusive affair – with breakfast, lunch and dinner taken care of, buffet-style. If you like a lie-in, you’ll be pleased to know the hotel lays on breakfasts up until 11.00 in the morning. Plus, afternoon tea is part of the package. And if you fancy a seafood supper under the stars, there’s also an outdoor à la carte restaurant here - it’s worth paying that little bit extra for.
Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Late breakfast 10.30-11.30.
Afternoon tea and coffee 16.00-17.00. Selected local-brand alcohol and soft drinks until 24.00.

Recently spent a week at this very friendly and welcoming hotel. All staff were lovely, with a smiling face from everyone. This is a smaller resort, giving more of a 'community' feeling. The entertainment crew work hard and do not pressure you into taking part. The chefs make a real effort to explain what the food is, a credit to the hotel. I did find the trip to the beach a little intimidating as we loaded out of the mini bus at the sister hotel and stood out like a sore thumb with different coloured wristbands. The shops at some resorts are renowned for hard sell......Not these, the guys are super friendly, we even sat in the shop and drank tea with them. All in all a 'Mega friendly' resort which i would reccomend to all. Well done to all at Sol Y Mar.More

super sol y mar
Had a great week. A fun friendly hotel. Lots of laughter every day. Room clean and comfortable and nice view of the pool. Lots of towel art, loved the monkey. Food good choice some of the meals could have been hotter. Would definitely recommend a visit.More

10 days of sun
My wife and I attended the Sol Y Mar between 11/10/14 and 21/10/14.
Short transfer from the airport to the location about 10 mins.
On arrival at the hotel we checked in at the reception. Initially the gentleman dealing with us was helpful. However he then took a call on his mobile phone. He attempted to deal with us at the same time as talking on his phone which we found to be frustrating and rude, resulting in him forgetting to give us our all inclusive wrist band and paperwork relating to restaurant/pool bar eating times and general hotel information.
Due to our arrival time we went to the restaurant where we met one of the waiters called Saied. He welcomed us to the hotel and was genuinely pleased to see us. He fully explained the outlay of the hotel eating times, where to get pool towels from and how to get to the beach. He basically did the job of the receptionist. This professionalism continued throughout the ten nights by Saied and his colleague Osama. Both were eager to look after us and even though they looked short staffed at times they always refilled your glass and always took the time to ask how your day was. Both are a credit to the hotel. Our room was cleaned to a high standard and we were greeted with excellent towel art on a daily basis.
The music around the pool was noisy and could do with being a bit quieter. The pool waiters and the animation team worked tirelessly and never stopped smiling and engaging with the guests, again all a credit to the hotel.
Having been on all inclusive holidays previously I have found the food to be repetitive, but not at the Sol Y Mar. The food was cooked to an excellent standard. Fantastic omelettes in the morning too. An obvious effort was made to vary the evening food.
On checking out on 21/10 the receptionist failed to thank us for stopping at the Hotel or asking us if we would be returning. Just a bit of fine tuning in the reception area is required to pick the expected standard of the hotel up to the purported star that they advertise. Look forward to returning again at some point in the future.
Best holiday I could have wished for!
Me and my girlfriend booked this and we were quite happy with the reviews before coming. After being back a day, looking back, I can honestly say this was the best hotel me and my girlfriend have been to!
We arrived and got given cocktails, the guys on reception, especially Ibrahim, because we dealt with him more, was a delight. You can always have a joke with him and if you give him a bag of sweets, he will look after you for the whole holiday. He could not have done more, everything he asked, he did with a smile and a joke.
Rooms are nice, kind of small, especially the bathroom but that doesnt bother me at all. Bed is comfy and I wanted to take the pillows home they were that comfy. It was always cleaned, had a few days where we had towel art too but the cleaners are very very friendly and will always chat with you.
The food was my main concern and my girlfriends because the last two times we have been away, the food was awful. There was absolutely no need to be worried because there is always something for you to eat. My girlfriend is a slightly fussy eater, if it doesnt look good, she wont eat it. Everything was presented so nicely and the food was spot on. Always cooked, hot all the way through and my girlfriend has a nut allergy and the first day we spoke to Chef Sayed who was just out by the food, I asked him what had nuts in and what hadn't and he took her round showing her all the food and desserts that she was allowed. Every single time we were in the restaurant from the first day to the last, he would look out for her, go over to her while shes having a look around and tell her what she can have. He made it much easier for her as she worries a lot about it and we couldnt thank him enough for it. The staff in the restaurant are brilliant, from the one that cooks the eggs in the morning, to the one that cooks the pasta in the evening, they did everything with a smile and again, could always have a laugh with you. I cannot forget to mention Sayed and Osama too. Osama would have two drinks on the table before we sat down and would never ever let us get up to get one. Even when we had left the restaurant and facetiming my girlfriends family, Osama seen us without drinks and brought them over to us in the lobby, he was amazing, he was very funny too, had us laughing from day one! Him an Sayed are just a joy to be with and they made breakfast, dinner an tea very entertaining. Pool restaurant was pretty nice, just the usual food you can expect but the Chicken Shawerma was lovely and so was the pizza and Khalid who seems to be in charge down there, did a wonderful job, always told you to sit down and he will come and take our order for us. The chef who im surprised didnt collapse in the heat outside, always joked and smiled, and he may not have had the best english, he always tried speaking about football, just a young lad to, but he was so nice.
The pool is cold, but its lovely when it is the weather is so hot. Animation were brilliant, I personally dont get up and do much but I played water polo a few times and my girlfriend always did Bomba! It helped when the two guys off animation, Achmed and Bobosh, were fantastic, and i really mean that. They werent too pushy but always encouraged you to do water polo or morning stretching. The entertainment at night isnt bad either, its not amazing but its not bad and we always went up there to watch it every night.
The drinks here are pretty good too, beer is nice and cold and they still dont know what proper measures are over there for spirits but if you ask for a small, they only put a small amount in.
Around the pool there are a few people who try and sell stuff. First there is the man who runs the beauty salon upstairs, he was really nice and polite and we had a few things done up there, the foot scrub and massage is definitely worth it and he gave me a free one before the end of our holiday. There is another guy who sells excursions but he never actually spoke to us, not that I can remember anyway, surprising with it being such a small hotel. The spa guy who sells stuff, is stuck up, rude, inpolite and actually insulted my girlfriend and never apologised at all. I would really recommend staying clear of him because a lot of people who he sold the massage to, hated it, and one woman said she could barely walk after it, it hurt her that much. Then, there is Mido, the guy who sells professional photos, and genuinely one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Every morning he would come to our sunbeds for a chat and he is so nice, his english is really really good, but the way he says the word no made us all laugh.
Security is excellent there and the pitbull lookalike is the best. He actually shouted at the spa guy for insulting my girlfriend and again, laughed and joked with us.
I think the big part of the reason we loved this hotel is the bar staff. There was Michael before he left on his holiday to see his family, reda, whos english wasnt good, but he did everything with a smile, and there are a lot of others that I really cannot remember there names. However,I know a lot of people have already mentioned his name but this guy really madr our holiday. Had us all in stitches from the moment we got there, right until we got our transfer to the airport, and that is Hussien Sayed, or Foxy. He was AMAZING. The funniest guy in the hotel, and a proper wind up. We had water fights with him, he was thrown in the pool 3 times when we were there, but he would always bring us drinks too, not just mess around. I would bring him home with me in a heartbeat.
We met some lovely people here, not just staff either and it seems like I have half of the staff on my facebook now. All in all, me and my girlfriend and the guys we have met, all want to go back next year. Everyone we spoke to in the hotel just said, we have no complaints. This is a perfect hotel and I cannot wait to go back next year!!More
The staff were second to none :) the hotel was fantastic could not fault the service. The towel characters in the room were amazing. Food was fantastic. The only constructive advice that I can think that may have made it slightly better was if the twin beds had a zip link on them. I will definitely return soon.More
