The hotel-run kids' club provides a great range of kids’ activities to fill their days with fun and adventure. For ages 4 to 12 years.

Great Hotel with a great animation team, they really make you feel welcome and help you to enjoy your holiday. The rooms are exceptional, clean modern and well looked after. The hotel in general is very clean tidy and well presented, you feel very secure and the staff are exceptional really look after you and make you feel valued. The Pool's and water park are again very well kept and provide you with ample entertainment for the days. We did venture out of the hotel, however there is no need to as everything is provided on site. Shops Bar etc. A few things let the hotel down, the food for a start not much variation and very repetitive, although i am fussy when it comes to my food. The evening entertainment is atrocious, if it wasn't for the animation team and there evening trips the knights would have been unbearable. However the holiday is what you make it, and with the people we met, the members of the animation team and the very friendly hotel staff we had an amazing holidayMore

Hotel = Poor - Waterpark = Good

Ok, Where do i start with this Hotel... This is our second visit to this hotel when it was formerly 'Coral Sea Resort' (23/9 - 7/10) we was expecting better things from the last visit a couple of years ago around the same time. Was a bit of a let down if i'm honest. I'll start with the food... Still the same old stuff you find in almost every AI hotel in Egypt. Same meals just worded differently, taste almost identical, Beef Tagine tasted exactly the same as Beef Strogonov as well as all the fish based meals. The Dine around hasn't been updated at all, Poor service for cutlery once a table has been cleaned. Staff seem far to eager to remove your plates whilst others are still eating which i find a little rude. The Ice cream is amazing though and the best tasting food is at lunch time with the BBQ outside. Mermaid restaurant during the day is probably a better tastier option but the menu is the same everyday so you can soon run out of options. Il Capriccio was very nice, the beef steaks i got from there one night was absolutely top draw, tasted nice and full of flavour,. Indian was also superb, during September they had a free drinks and free meal offer which we took advantage of but left a nice tip for their troubles. The Lamb Rogan Josh was lovely. Secondly, The Rooms.. Now this is based solely on my room but i know others have had the same problem. Mosquitos and bugs. This hotel last time i stayed used to treat mosquitos with a smoke gun after sunset all over the complex, that seems to have vanished and with it come the influx of the little biters. We had to buy a couple of RAID plug ins which didn't work has once you remove the keycard from the power slot the sockets turn off. The cleaner then has your door wide open while they clean the rooms letting any of them gatecrash your room for your arrival later in the day. We had flying ants and earwigs in the Bathroom and asked the reception desk to deep clean our room. They got some guy to come round with some stinky spray that smelled vile then cleaned the room as normal. Still no joy. Luckily we only had 4 days left so we decided to just leave it has we was ready for home and moving room was to much hassle so late on, they didn't have any of our room type free and refused to upgrade us for a discount. Cleaning of the room seemed good, until we noticed he wasn't sweeping them up, just mopping them and moving the dust and dirt around, wasn't cleaning into the corners nor behind any doors has there was a few strands of hair which was not any of ours behind our front door. We ended up cleaning it ourselves. Not something you want to do on holiday. Thirdly, Pools The water park is a great addition, really good for kids but the rules have been tightened since a few accidents a couple of year ago its took a little of the fun out. they are to parapmount of safety now. every slide is 1 at a time. They dont tell you that despite being the right height if you are not heavy enough you can go on them. One of the kids from another family who came away with us aged 8, couldnt go on any of the main slides on his own, even though he was old enough and tall enough. the 4 way slide, we asked can 3 of us go down at once like a race, to be told now, H&S rules say 1 at a time. Wheres the fun in that :( Overall though its a great addition and breaks the day up for kids, Lazy river to relax although it seems to shut like 4x a day for no reason. The big slides shut as well over dinner and re-open at 2:30PM The palm pool has been revamped though, Tiles relayed round the pool and the entrance slope redone, although a little rough on the skin its better than last time which was full of holes and sharp edges. Beds had been updated as well, which was nice to see. Activites are still the same as last time. Water polo, Volleyball etc. they do a kids one now though which is quite good. Fourtly, Beach and Jetty Shocking, The sand is rough as anything, infact its not even sand, its more like broken shells. the beds are old and tatty, the beach bar is awful. The jetty is shared with Aurora next door and is still the exact same as last time i came. The owners will not extend it because it is a British based hotel, they are far to H&S conscious. The manager of the diving center was telling us all about it and thats the main reason why. There is nothing to see coral wise, you might see the odd spotted puffer fish but thats about it. Other than that its grey and more grey and dead. Finally, The Animation team... Here is my biggest gripe, last time we was here a lot of people complained about the lacklustre of enthusiasm, it continues 3 years later. They are a aged bewteen 18-22 at best. Kids looking after kids springs to mind. whilst we was there 3 or 4 new recruits came and join the team. 3 of them have no skills or anything at all other than they went out with them whilst holidaying there, got home emailed them and was offered a job straight away !!! They looked lost and so out of place. Yet again though, come night time they rush everything through so to get out partying. One Saturday they had a beach party @ £10 a ticket on the beach which is part of your AI package. The kids mini disco started 30 minutes earlier and the act after it was dreadful which ended about 9:20PM..after that that was it for the night. Quite a lot of people complained to the hotel has one of the team was talking to my missus about it and she looked really hungover. Even the kids mini disco is the same songs as 3 years ago. its the pizza hut song, followed by music man, then some french song and a german song, then the club dance which has changed to Africa and not Chocolattte anymore. Then thats it. The team look like they dont want to be there but because they are getting paid but a face on, i highly doubt any of them have any childcare qualifications whatsoever, a couple of them have dance and performing arts NVQs but thats about it. The girl that walks around who i thinks in charge, has black jelly shows on all the time is one miserable cow. She was the one that took us to the British pub, then when we left reckon she was sat outside the whole time (she wasn't) has we looked and there was 2 people outside. However if you go on a night out buying a ticket somewhere with them, they'll love you. On bingo night the tickets was 2 for 50LE, i then seen one of the girls try selling them for 100LE for 2 to a couple near us, until i said i only paid 50LE for 2 why is it now 100, she stuttered and said actually yea it is, sorry my bad...HMMMMMM sure it was !!! Overall they are very poor and are in the wrong hotel for the work base they do...they should be in Magaluf or Ibiza or somewhere else with that sort of genre, not a family orientated hotel. If you wanna do scuba diving, talk to Moo, one of the Aquarius salemen. really nice guy. i done the discover Scuba along with my mate who is a PADI instructor and had a blast. I paid £80 for 2 dives at 12M, free equipment. My mate paid £45 Dont do the dolphin spotting, Just hire the Speedboat for 2 hours, we got it at £100 for 6 of us on our own with all euipment included, had 2 30 minute snorkeling sessions which i took my 4 year old in and she loved it, a divemaster gets in with a ring if you are not a good swimmer. then on the way back you go Dolphin spotting anyway ;) However some of the staff are friendly, the rest are friendly just for tips. If you use the mini bar be very very careful, they tried charging me twice. short changed me when i paid at reception on the day of check out, tried charging the other family we travelled with for the spa treatments they had which was paid when they had them. The holiday ended with bad vibes. They didn't even put our luggage on the coach until i paid 50LE for a can of beer out of my mini bar which i had already paid for...If i wasn't in such a rush to get home i'd of gone absolutely mental. Overall review... Thought it would of improved vastly but seems the same old same old, the waterpark covers a lot of the drab, plus the fact the hotel really hasn't moved on from the last time we came. Will not be returning EVER !! Far better places out there for the same money.More

5th visit to this hotel

Stayed at the Coral Sea for 2 weeks from the 11th september to the 25th in a 2 bedroomed room. I had emailed the hotel previous and as the email said we were given vip treatment and were given the room requested. It was lovely so many of the staff recognised us from our previous stays. After a few days we noticed how bad the young animation team were at entertaining the guests or the lack of it. We had on previous trips enjoyed the quiz at the endvof the day by the pool but this did not happen. We asked one of the team why they were not doing it and she told us she had been there 2 months and they had not done it in that time. It was clear on watching them at the pool everyday that entertaining the guests was an effort for them. Its the first ever holiday I have been on when the staff were allowed to use the same facilities ie the pool and sun beds as the guests. It was even more alarmingvwhen on a number of occassions the pool staff jumped into the pool fully clothed. The evening entertainment left a lot to be desired a lovely area out on a patio area could be made of more use for evening entertainment. We all felt that the food in the main restuarant had gone down hill from previous stays and at times there was somewhat confusion with the waiters clearing the tables or the lack of the tables being cleared. Our cleaner the first week was excellent but the one we had the second week was just not nearly as dedicated at his job. We were informed that they intend to build over 300 new rooms can I say that before this is done they require to do some upgrading in replacing the furniture in the reception area and making sure the waiters clean the tables. Our room could have done with the bathroom being upgraded. After all this I would still consider going back as the staff on the whole make us feel at home and the water park is an excellent bonus to the holiday.More
