A lot of thought has gone into the Cleopatra Luxury Resort – the hi-tech rooms, spa, and a long list of restaurants are a case in point.
The luxury mentioned in the Cleopatra Luxury Resort’s name starts with its setting. It’s on a 200 metre-long stretch of private beach, on the shores of the Red Sea.

The hotel bedrooms are modern. There’s art on the walls, feature rugs on the floors, and double-headed showers in the bathrooms. The mod-cons include flatscreen TVs and internet access.

The facilities list embodies luxury, too. There are 3 swimming pools – one of which is an infinity pool overlooking the sea. There’s also a spa, where the treatment list combines European and Asian therapies.

The hotel has more bars and restaurants than you can count on one hand. The collection includes the lobby bar, which serves late breakfasts to people who like to lie in, the Red Sea Wharf, which dishes up seafood on the beach, and the Sunset Lounge, where the name speaks for itself.

Your guide to Nabq Bay, Egypt - Red Sea

A peaceful beach and undisturbed coral reefs are giving holidays to Nabq Bay a massive boost. And its stay-out-late night scene is hot on the heels of Sharm’s established party spots.

Nabq Bay is a one street kind of place, sandwiched between the upmarket Montazah district and the National Park of Nabq. It’s small, certainly, but it’s making quite a name for itself, thanks to its 1,500-metre-long belt of sand and pop-up nightlife. And it’s no fuss to get around. Lining the main strip, the sea-facing hotels are mostly wedded to private beaches, and they’re all within walking distance of restaurants and shopping malls, which double as entertainment hubs.

Although most of the shoreline is now the property of one hotel or another, Pataya Beach is open to anyone. An entrance fee grants you the use of its bar, sunloungers, restaurant and pool – and it’s rarely crowded. There’s a coral reef you can wade out to straight from the beach, while snorkellers can nose around the ghost-like Maria Schroeder shipwreck – she’s still jammed in the reef that sunk her.

Nabq Bay has a rural feel to it, but the further north you head, the wilder it gets. The far end of the bay gives way to sand dunes and 4-kilometre-long mangrove forests – the largest in Sinai. It’s been a protected area since 1992, which makes it easy for hermit and mud crabs to roam freely on the beaches. The shallow waters also provide shelter for the likes of storks and herons.

Nabq Bay’s well-placed to catch a cross-section of life in Sharm El Sheikh. It’s a 10-minute drive to Sharks Bay and the designer boutiques and restaurants at SOHO Square – home also to Egypt’s only ice bar. A further 15 minutes by car gets you to all-singing-all-dancing Naama Bay, where a crowd of clubs and casinos party full-throttle in to the night.
