Resta Grand Resort

Made up of two storey, low-level terracotta-coloured buildings, this place has quite a village feel to it. The grounds are dotted with palms, little wooden bridges and clusters of sage-green tables and chairs.

But it’s the two swimming pools that attract the most attention. The main one is a big curvy number that snakes through the grounds. As for the other one, it is smaller but just as inviting - you’ll find them round by the rooms that come with a pool view.

Speaking of rooms, they’ve been styled with a contemporary eye. They come in two colour schemes - blue and terracotta - but whichever one you get it’ll be kitted out with extras like tea-and-coffee kits, mini-fridge and large flatscreen TVs. What’s more, decent-sized balconies or terraces come as standard, set to either pool, sea or garden views.

Elsewhere, there are four restaurants to tempt you. The main restaurant is a buffet affair with a live cooking station, so you can see the dishes being rustled up in front of you. You’ll also find three à la carte eateries here: the Plateau outdoor grill and seafood restaurant, the Zeit Zatoon for Mediterranean dishes and the Marsa Club House with fusion cuisine.

Great Holiday

We recently stayed at the Resta Grand for the 4th time, we usually stay for the new year when they can not do enough for you. But our stay in March was just as good. We had a warm welcome from check in to check out. Sam in the bar looked after us daily along with all the Staff who all remembered us from our previous visits, if you you are looking for a relaxing holiday and beautiful wether look no furtherMore

Grand Rest at Resta Grand

We stayed at this hotel for 14 nights during March 2014. We had booked the holiday with Thomson Holidays. The flight was very good and departed practically on time. On arrival at the hotel, the check - in was very easy and relaxed. We were speedily taken to our rooms 5202 / 5203. The rooms are large and very well presented, with table lamps etc. tea and coffee making facilities are available The bathroom also is well presented. Some shower gels and shampoo was provided. The patio area has table chairs and sunbed. Most rooms have some sea-view / pool view. I would not suggest paying to upgrade the room. There are two swimming pools one of which is heated. However, the cold pool is often refreshing when the sun is too much. Waleed the pool bar man always brought us drinks. If you wanted ice cream this was available mid afternoon for an hour or two. We really did not get involved with the entertainments team, however were often seen doing aqua aerobics and organizing games etc. The food in the hotel is very good in quality and quantity. The pasta chef does an amazing hot and spicy pasta dish. I believe there is something for everyone. We did book our boat trips through Emporer Divers, thier office / shop is in the hotel Resta Reef (just next door). There was free wifi available in the reception area. However, was very slow at times. Note, there is nothing immediately outside the hotel. There are 4 hotels within 5 minutes walk along the beach. Which is worth a walk to, to see what other hotels were offering. Would return to this hotel? possibly, but only based on food and the comfy sun beds.More

Great relaxing holiday

It was the first time we visited Marsa Alam and cannot fault it. The hotel was great very clean and the staff were great especially Samy in the restaurant and Sam in the bar, all the staff were helpful and friendly. The transfer was only 10 minutes away from the airport but did not notice any noise from the planes not that many planes fly there. The food was great and a good selection no tummy upsets from any of the holiday makers. Although it is a large hotel it was not crowded and had plenty of space. I will go back again as it was lovely.More

Perfect relaxing week !!

Where to start! Looked for a weeks all inclusive guaranteed sun and relaxation. Found this through Thomsons. Just a 10 min coach transfer from the airport, which may make you think it'll be noisy but as only 2 airlines use this airport I think we only heard 1 plane go over head per day. Reception area, which is the first thing you see on arrival, is absolutely stunning! This is the only place you can pick up a Wifi connection, and it's not quick, but sitting there once a day with a drink is all part of the relaxation process. Our room was gorgeous and huge, see below. Pool area .... WOW! Just perfect, 2 pools intertwined, one heated to 27 and one to 21 degrees, and a kids pool. Load of sun beds available, clean towels everyday. 2 other pools (which weren't filled during our stay as the end of the winter) make the choice so difficult. Staff from the swim up pool bar come around to see if you need a refill! Entertainments ranged from the usual Pilates/ stretching and aqua aerobics to dance lessons , staff were knowledgable and great fun to spend time with. Staff throughout the complex are some of the best I've come across; waiting staff, cleaning staff, bar staff, entertainers never stop smiling and checking that you don't need anything, they really do genuinely seem delighted that you are there. And you'll find that they can remember your personal requirements after just 1 day, from your drink to what you like for breakfast! Food, buffet style in the main restaurant, was fantastic at each meal. Great choice, local and what you'd expect to find. We personally had no issues eating salads or having ice in our drinks, I think this hotel is of such a good standard that the hygiene and food safety issues you are warned about are just not a problem. There are other restaurants which you can pay to use but we didn't take advantage of this. Beach area has loads more sun beds and a bar. Coral, rocky at the waters edge, was very windy when we were there, swimming was black flagged every day we were there but is just meant that you had to stay in the shallows, if you could find room for all the beautiful fish!! Do not forget your snorkel!! Water is warm and so clear, beautiful! There is a sister hotel which has a water park and is more aimed at families next door but apart form that not a lot else within walking distance, so if it's shops and restaurants you want this may not be the best place for you, if you want perfect relaxation in the sun then THIS IS thE ONE! Overall .... I really cannot recommend this hotel enough. If the rumours that I read on here before we went about Thomsons ditching this hotel are true, then I think they are making a huge mistake, I would definitely make the effort to get there again independently! I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.More

Nice Hotel

Visited hotel for 1 week in March 2014. Have been to a number of different hotels in Marsa Alam previously. Hotel very close to the airport so a quick transfer and did not notice the planes during the holiday. Hotel and room kept in reasonable condition. Beds are very hard. When visiting, the hotel was only about a third full. Even with so few people it was difficult to get a drink in the restaurant. Most of the Egyptian hotels let guests serve themselves to wine. Here the waiters bring half a small glass each time which means they have to spend much of their time getting refills. Their time would be much better spent making sure that the tables etc. were laid properly as we found there was often cutlery etc. missing. As with most all inclusive hotels the fruit juice and other drinks are watered down. Here the food was often cold. Most of the meat apart from the chicken I found inedible as it was so tough. I have had better food at other hotels in Marsa Alam. I mainly visit the red sea area for snorkelling. It was unfortunate that the jetty was closed the whole week due to the wind. It appears from past reviews that this if a frequent occurrence. If this happened we had intended to walk round to the Coraya Bay. Which we did. However, there was a man on the edge of the hotel grounds trying to stop people from going. If you are going to the red sea for snorkelling then I would not go to this resort there are better in the area which are not so affected by the weather conditions. If you want to just go to relax and sit around the pool then this resort is very good. The pools are excellent. The best I have had in an Egyptian hotel. The smaller one was heated which is welcome at this time of year. I cannot fault the staff. The gardeners, room guys, barmen and restaurant guys and reception staff are all very friendly and all having a laugh and a joke even though they all work very long hours. The animation team were not good and even some of the acts they brought in for the cultural shows were quite poor. However, I suppose this is a sign of the lack of tourists in Egypt at the moment which is a shame because there has not been any trouble in this part of Egypt. Wifi in the hotel was only available in the reception area and although it was free it was very very slow.More
