Iberotel Luxor  

Right on the Nile, this luxurious hotel has secured one of the most impressive locations in Luxor. River views come as standard pretty much anywhere in the grounds, and the Theben hills can also be seen in the distance.

The hotel’s designers have certainly gone all out to make the most of the setting. Take the swimming pool, for instance. Set into a wooden terrace, it actually floats on the Nile and is connected to the mainland by a bridge. It’s a good size, and is lined with sunloungers on either side.

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy your surroundings while having a bite to eat, too. For light snacks, pull up a seat at the pool bar. As for main meals, the hotel’s main restaurant offers up huge buffets which can be eaten outside on the Nile-facing terrace. Nothing compares to the hotel’s sailing restaurant, though – you’re treated to gourmet cuisine while cruising down the river.

Views aside, this place has plenty more going for it. The bedrooms are modern and spacious, decked out in a palette of crimson and gold. In terms of mod-cons, there’s air-conditioning and satellite TVs.

Lastly, the hotel is well-placed for exploring Luxor. It’s just a five-minute walk to the centre of town, where you’ll find shops, restaurants and bars.
