We have recentley returned from a two week stay at the Dunas Resort and were in the Sol Dunas. Even though it was our honeymoon we took our 10 month old with us too. Once we checked in we were taken by golf buggy to our room. Which is lucky as the place is massive. We were located near the Sal bar and right next to to the pool there. As the Dunas Resort is made up of two hotels my All Inclusive entitlment was for the the Sol Dunas bars which there was 3 of them, the Grille and Il Terrazo resturants also the Odyssey Piano bar, Spices resturant in the Melia Dunas and the beach bar. We could use the Melia Dunas bars and resturants with a 25% off. This was clearly explained at check in. Where we were located we had no need to use the Melia bars etc and would only go up to go to the buffet resturant spices. We never encountered any them and us attitudes whilst up there. The staff were amazing. Faultless. They always said hello as you walked past them. Having my son helped as they all wanted to see him. I read on here about picking children up without permission but everytime someone wanted to hold him they asked first. He loved the attention. Verdice in Spices and Nuno in the Sal bar became his favouites but he loved them all. The entertainement was really good. They had mini disco for the kids, then the kids could go to teens club for a film. Then at 9pm the main show would start. We seen a Brazilian dancing show, cape verde show, magic, african show, Chigaco and the Lion King.. The Lion King was really good. The only downside would be some rotation as we seen the same shows twice over the two weeks. The only small downside would be the flies but i wouldn't let them spoil an amazing holiday.More

Hotel complex opened in 2014. We have visited on three occasions, first visit was during December 2016, Second visit to March 2017 currently here now during May 2017 for two weeks. Exceptional family orientated complex. Staff amazing group of people, always have a smile and a welcoming greeting. Accommodation of an excellent standard. A great deal of attention is paid to hygiene, on entering every restaurant there is hand sanitising available/offered. In the mean I can't speak highly enough about this resource as a holiday destination. The variety of swimming pools, child orientated activities and overall cleanliness of the complex is superb. My only criticism at this point is a deterioration in food been offered especially since our first visit during 2016 when the food offered was totally amazing. Whilst there are plenty of choices and amazing presentation the quality and cooking (tenderness) of meats is poor i.e. Tough. The choices offered tend to be much the same on a daily basis. I appreciate there are several restaurants and I'm mainly referring to Spices , the main restaurant. I have noticed a major change in senior management, there appear to be more European managers and I wonder if they are influencing cost versus quality. I hope they revert this influence because previously the food offered was 3 star standard. The entertainment you cannot fault especially at the Piano bar in the evenings, and there are always shows on for families with children. Definitely recommend the complex, staff and facilities, just hope they improve the food.More
