On Location – Mauritius Day 15

For the past 2 weeks, our blogger has been giving us daily updates from Mauritius. But now it’s time to say au revoir to the tropical isle and return home…

It’s been a great couple of weeks. I’ve done so many things – everything from swimming with dolphins to learning how to cook a Mauritian curry. In between, I’ve also managed to squeeze in a fair amount of time on the beach. Plus, I think I’ve gained a pound or two thanks to the too-tasty-by-far all inclusive grub at the Ambre Resort & Spa. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. And so I’m penning my final post to you from the airport.

However, I’m not too down in the mouth about going home. Not because I’m desperate to head back to Blighty, mind you. In fact the thought of returning to skies the colour of concrete and single-digit temperatures aren’t really doing it for me. No, the reason I’m excited is because I’m a bit of a plane geek, truth be told, and I’m rather excited about taking to the skies on a Thomson 787 Dreamliner. I mean this super-jet can do this for starters…

A look inside Premium

I’ve only been upgraded once before on my travels but I’ve struck gold again today. So, before I take to the skies, here’s a look inside the Premium Class cabin. There’s loads – and boy do I mean loads of legroom…

…plus there are funky flip-out touchscreen TVs with more films on offer than most cinema listings. Not only that, but the complimentary drinks are already flowing. Ice and a slice? Oh, go on then…

…and look who I spotted in the inflight magazine – it’s only yours truly!

PS The windows you can see over my shoulder are 30% bigger than the windows you get on a standard jet so, in effect, everyone gets a window seat. You’ll notice there are no window blinds, too. That’s because the windows can be dimmed at the touch of a button. Clever stuff, eh?

Right, the cabin crew are ‘preparing doors for departure’ so I’d better log off now. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my travels around Mauritius. If you like the sound of it, you can find out more about the island here. Bon voyage!
