July is Make Holidays Greener month, a campaign run by the Travel Foundation – the UK’s sustainable tourism charity. Through the World Care Fund we’ve remained their largest contributor donating over £3 million to date. In July we’ve continued supporting them with a range of activity overseas, a pack lightly challenge at head office, and today with volunteers from head office visiting our retail shops as part of our Project Discovery scheme.
Volunteers have been handing out top tips to holidaymakers – helping them make their next break away – greener and fairer, and water-pebbles to help them save water at home and on holiday.
How Water Pebbles Work
The Waterpebble has a timer which helps you reduce the time of your shower in order to save water. The first time you use it, you need to activate it for it to time and remember the length of your shower. From the 2nd shower onwards, it reduces the time of each shower by 7 seconds by flashing a red light when it is time to get out. This helps you avoid time-wasting in the shower. After a number of showers, you can re-set the pebble by pushing on the reverse and the programme starts all over again.
