Jingle all the way to Lapland with Thomson this winter…

This winter, for the first time, Thomson is launching its own Lapland programme offering both day and stay trips to three different resorts. With Christmas fast approaching, what better time to plan a trip to Lapland and go and see Santa for yourself?

To celebrate the launch, we will be hosting a live webchat this Friday on 18th November at 1PM, where our team of experts will be online to answer any questions you may have. Whether you’re going to Lapland this winter, have always wanted to go, or would just like a bit more information, our team will be able to point you in the right direction.

Best of all we will be giving away a £250 Thomson Foreign Exchange card to one lucky contributor to the webchat.

We’ve just launched our new Facebook page, so come and take a look and tell us what you think. And don’t forget, Like us for all the latest news, offers, competitions and more.

Hiya I’ve booked for Levi in December and was wondering it says you supply thermal clothing?? Could you let me know if that is sallopettes and jacket or do I still have to buy them? Also staying at the white reindeer 1&2 Levi, my friend is gulten and dairy intolerant will they be able to cook chicken and rice etc for her?? Also sorry so many questions? Can we book things like Santa park when out there rather than before we go, as the dates we go Thomson have nothing left for the trip To see Santa? (4th dec 2013for 4 nights) Many thank sue

Hi Susan, Thanks for your message. it’s great to hear you’re visiting Lapland! Yes as part of your trip to Lapland we’ll lend you thermal clothing, this includes an all-in-one thermal suit, as well as boots, gloves, socks and a hat. However you may want to bring extra layers as it can get quite cold in the month of December. A great suggestion would be to bring your own sallopette and Jacket.

In regards to your meal requests, you’re able to contact the resort and ask them to ensure that they’re able to cook those foods for you as your friend is gluten and dairy intolerant.

The good news is that if you don’t want to book any activities before you go, you’re able to chose whilst you’re there, but please bear in mind that sometimes they do fill up pretty quick as we only fly there for a limited amount of time. You’ll be able to see one of your holiday advisors in Lapland who’ll be happy to help you arrange the Santa trip.

Hi. Did you find out the information I asked for (as below)? Also was wondering if we need to take out normal travel insurance or winter sports insurance?

    • Dan @Thomson says: 17/02/2013 at 10:00

Hi Rebeca, Sorry we’ve not heard back at the moment, but I’ve chased this for you. As insurance policies differ from different companies you’d need to check your cover with your insurance company.

Hi. We are thinking of staying at the Yllas Saaga Hotel in December 2013. The intinerary for stays in this area I believe it’s the Lapland Explorer experience. It says you visit the Santa activity area to visit Santa. Can you explain exactly what this is. Also does the hotel or Thompson provide sledges for the children to play on?

Hi Rebecca, I’ve e-mail my colleague who deals with Lapland. I will get this information back to you when I find out the answers.

Hi,we are thinking about booking a holiday to Lapland for dec this year.it is for me,my wife and our 2 boys aged 6 & 4.we are not sure wether to book half board or b&b.we are worried the food may be expensive in restaurants in Lapland.is this the case? Please could you advise?

    • Adam @Thomson says: 23/01/2013 at 09:24

Hi Luke, It depends where you are going. Rovaniemi is a city so you’ll have a choice of restaurants at different prices. However, choices will be more limited in Levi, Yllas and Saariselka so if you are considering these resorts, we would recommend Half Board.

just wondering if the delfin azul has kitchen facilities?

    • Rebecca @Thomson says: 14/01/2013 at 12:41

      Hi Moira,

I’ve just checked this for you and the rooms at the Delfin Azul don’t come with kitchen facilities.

I am seeing that lots of customers have booked hotels, that I don’t seem to see on your web page, I am only getting the choice of 3 hotels to stay at. Also, travelling as a big family, could you recommend accommodation that sleeps 6, 4 adults and 2 children.. Thank you

    • karen says: 12/01/2013 at 23:26

Ooops, sorry I found more! Was looking via First Choice.. :0)

Hi Karen, Have you managed to find some more hotels to look at now? Was there a particular one you were interested in?

We are due to arrive in Yllas on 26th Dec, staying at the Snow Princess. Could you tell me if vegetarian options are provided as part of the standard buffet or if we will need to request this on arrival.

    Thanks

    • Dan @Thomson says: 24/12/2012 at 11:27

Hi Janine, There’ll be vegetarian options available on the buffet, you can also speak to the chefs to request other food as well.

Note to Thomson this time, it would be a nice idea if perhaps a drink/snack could be provided at the welcome meeting. The kids were tired and hungry by this point and didnt really listen to your meeting as it had been such a long day already.
Also our elf, as lovely as she was, didnt really know enough information, for example we started off at the wrong hotel for the welcome meeting.
The santa resort was lovely but there was lots of waiting, we ended up missing one activity due to time, perhaps more staff needed on the actual activity and not just wandering around.
We did have a lovely time these are just a few helpful suggestions for the future.

    • Lauren K @Thomson says: 21/12/2012 at 17:27

Hi Iz, Thank you for all your feedback. I’ll pass this on to the resort team. It’s great to hear you had a lovely time whilst in Lapland.
